Way too big of a barb other hook and too deep for the pull back, a few cold drinks don't help either. You should have got his finger on ice and then pushed it through right from the start, ice would completely numb the area, so for us, unless at anchor and no more fishing, zero beers people, ice will literally act as a local anesetic.
But you did get it done and hopefully cleaned it as best as possible.
Had to get one out of my own thumb I’m right handed too try cutting line ect on your own not good had to push fully thru cut pet off after Frk not as funny as you think
