One of my favourite books. So sad that King is dismissed as "that horror writer" when horror is really just the backdrop for what he's actually writing about.
I mainly reread this novel for the fact that I watched a video that talks about the use of yellow throughout horror, how it contrasts as something bright to the darkness and blood that's part of horror and dang there was so much mention of yellow in this book, I used like 4 packs of yellow post it flags to mark the pages the colour is mentioned on. still, it was worth the reread and repurchase. I also just bought a used hardcover edition of it. also I loved joining in with the read-a-long.
As soon as you said that one thing that really got you in part 4, I immediately knew it was Patrick. King did such a good job at making him a disturbing, horrifying villian.
I love how you can form a really good mini reviews as you read - I can only do that when writing not talking, so it's really impressive for me. 💛 And even though I hate horror genre and have no intension of reading Stephen King's books, I really enjoyed your reading vlog ✨😊
Interesting you should say that as I definitely find it easier to vocalise thoughts on books rather than write them down! And aw I’m glad you enjoyed the vlog even though you don’t plan on reading any King!☺️
You are such a perfect example of an English rose ... sweet, pretty, and brimming with enthusiasm. So proud of you and your channel, hun (from a fellow book lover from Manchester). New subbie 💕
My favorite book of all time, but it took me a week to read it the first time while doing almost nothing else. Since, I've read it at a dozen times. Amazing book. I'm always sad when it's over.
I loved loved this reading vlog 🍁 Your energy is contagious and your videos are soo comforting! "It" its one of my favourite books ever, you can reel emphasize with each character and see them growing is lovely! Have a wonderful weekend 🧡
Omg, your bunny and your cat are so cute. 😍 I'm always impressed by people on youtube reading IT so quickly, I read it over one month of summer years ago, and I really loved taking my time with this novel and carrying it with me everywhere. To this day it's one of my all times favourites! Did you read the Green Mile? I think you would love it!
Agreed - they are so cute! I think with IT, it’s a weird one because it’s so big but I think reads a lot quicker - it just goes faster than most books of that length! And I’ve seen the Green Mile movie and definitely want to read the book - that might be my next King!
THE INTRO 🥺💚 here's to always finishing books dangerously close to the deadline hahaha, you did amazing though! we did iiiiiiiit 🎉, can't wait for many more buddy reads in the future 🥰
I really want to start reading IT but I’m scared of clowns lol. It’s on my bucket list to read it but I’m so scared! Also this is my first video of yours that I’ve watched and loved it. The way that you make little reviews throughout the book is so good and not many people do it. Will be subscribing 😁
If it makes you feel any better Pennywise takes other forms too😂 also I personally found reading about a clown a lot less scary than watching it in a movie! So glad you enjoyed the video!☺️
It took me like a year to read this book 🤣 but it's one of my all time favorites! Watching this makes me ready to reread it! I love that you enjoy classics and horror. Those tend to be the two types of things that I love to read!❤
It’s so good! I didn’t think I’d ever plan to reread it because it’s so big but I think I probably will a few years! And yay - classics and horrors are great!
Young teenage boys have girls on their mind all the time. They are a divine mystery, so King is being honest about his boy characters. It’s not so much objectification as curiosity and wonder…and hormones
I loved this reading vlog so much, even though I most likely will not read it in my lifetime as I neither enjoy horror nor really long books. 😅 however I really enjoy long vlogs, especially from you ☺️
Loving the new Intro! Like your 💅🏼‼️ I like your pjs‼️ Coca with marshmallows and whipped cream 😋‼️ Again I love your black 🌻 top‼️Your description of Patrick reminds me of Syd Phillips from Toy Story 1! Yay you finished the book‼️Loving the 🧡 cardigan‼️ Ps: I finished Oliver Twist this week, and while did enjoy Charles Dickens characters and his way with words, I think his opinion of Jewish people is racist and super outdated! Now I’m halfway through Velvet Was The Night; it’s a slow burn noir thriller about this Maite looking for her neighbor Leorna‼️ Last but not least I picked up The Hounds of Baskerville; and So far I’m like how much of a word-smith Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is!
I tried reading this last year but couldn't get into it. After the first 100 pages I wasn't particularly gripped, but I want to try it again now that I've heard you talk about how you had a good experience with it. I think it will be fun to read a long thrilling book in the cold months, huddled up under blankets and jumpers with a hot chocolate mmm.
I hope you enjoy it more second time around! I do think the first part is the least engaging in the sense that it jumps around a few different plots, whereas when you get into part 2 it settles more on the main characters and their story which makes it easier and more interesting to follow!
@@ciarascorner ooh okay. Good to know. It was more that I got to the bit where the guy was dead in the bath and I though is this meant to scare me? It didn't even intrigue me lol. I shall persist though! Hopefully I will get into Stephen King afterwards. Have only read On Writing by him so far.
Ahh I get you! I do think that’s definitely there for a bit of shock factor and doesn’t have as much impact as it could if it was placed elsewhere! In the movie, they show childhood first and then that bit so you’re more emotionally connected to the guy that dies by that point! For other Stephen Kings, I’d recommend Misery or The Shining as ones to start with, they’re much shorter than IT but really good!
That's a great challenge. It took me a month to read It, and tbh I was just lazy . Taking 3 to 5 day breaks here and there. I bet I could read it in a weekend.
aweeee what a precious sweet rabbit! I'm finally reading misery from Steven King & it's SO GOOD. I never read a Steven King book before... what a shaaame :O haha
I havent watched u in ages : D im after 2 operations and i have lymphoma cancer : D so much pain that my brain makes me laugh at it haha im planning to start reading seriously after not doing it for Many years....The book normal people by rooney is what im starting with. Good to see you. ! You and your teas : D
Patrick's chapter was the most horrible part of the book for me. Not that its bad writting. It did it job well, i was actually rooting for Penny in that chapter.
this whole video makes me so happy :) thanks for making us a whole documentary! I read "It" in two weeks over the summer and I thought that was fast LOL
Finished the film on Netflix. Go watch it RIGHT NOW before they remove it!! Also let me know if they bring the movies back, because an Netflix Original left before december. No regrets seeing the film. One spoiler: in the book - haven't read it yet; a week ago I've got 3 weeks with library books and after that, I'm checking out it because on their webpage its available. Ouija origins is leaving too. All but the Netflix version of Texas chainsaw massacre is gone. Never saw the whole of 3D. Sad. Removed it in the MIDDLE of watching it.
Love the book but if the thickness of the book puts you off get audible you can listen to the book you can listen as you do other things if you need to
Hello I also just finished IT because of spooky season and love it! Though was very shocked also in that Beverly scence. It came out of nowhere and did nothing for the story at all. Completely unnecessary and hated every part of it. I'm going to pretend it never happened so I can still view this book as perfection bevause I really loved it otherwise!
Pennywise isn't real?He took one look inside that gym and was gone in a cloud of dust! Very good summary, although I think the fact you're not into action sequences you probably short-change Mr King in that in this department he's excellent. He's also very good in the mother/son dynamic area.Remember how Eddie got the upper hand with his mother from his hospital bed concerning his friends? Lastly let me know if you ever try adult Ben's whiskey and 🍋 snorts😂
Hahah well I hope pennywise isn’t real! You’re probably right, action isn’t for me but I probably appreciate the other parts even more! And you’re so right, there are so many things to discuss this could have been a feature length vlog😂
I'm glad what happened with Beverly didn't ruin IT for you, because for some people I think it does. I guess I can't blame them. I wonder if male authors sometimes think that's the worse they can do with female characters and don't consider how female readers will respond. I wonder how his wife felt about that part, because she would read his work, though I don't know if they were together at the time. Watching this reminds me I need to pick it up again and continue my reread of it. When I'm not worried about timing I'll definitely watch the live show you guys did. Now, you gotta tackle the other big boy, The Stand! haha Unless, you did and I forgot.
I definitely think it’s a case of male author misrepresenting the one female protagonist - definitely didn’t ruin the novel but equally not my fave! Hahaha now The Stand intimidates me - maybe one day I’ll be brave enough!
I really enjoyed joining in this readathon. It is the first one I have ever taken part in. I enjoyed the character development throughout and how much I felt that I knew the characters. The descriptions of IT were terrifying! However, I feel that it should contain trigger warnings. The animal scene made me also feel sick and really sad. 🎈 Are you doing a Christmas readathon???
So glad you enjoyed joining in! Agreed with everything you said about IT! And ooh I hadn’t thought about a Christmas Readathon 👀 I am planning 12 days of vlogmas so that will be a new video every 2 days!
Attention everyone, you heard it here first: if you have anyone being sexist towards or objectifying a female in your novel, that is bad and in turn makes YOU a sexist! Only good characters are aloud!
One of my favourite books. So sad that King is dismissed as "that horror writer" when horror is really just the backdrop for what he's actually writing about.

What!? I couldn't read this in one month let alone one weekend lol
Honestly, most books this length would take me ages but something about Stephen King just makes me want to read it all in one go!
I echo this statement😂😂
Woah, good job on reading so much on a single weekend! Impressive!
Thanks so much!!
In a reading slump after reading they both die in the end…..I needed this and ur positive vibes !!

Aww I’m so glad you enjoyed! Agreed, IT is such a great book!
Your use of audiobooks in tandem has inspired me; I have a book I want to get to but haven't had time to sit and read.
I only really started using audio books this year but they’ve been so great at keeping me reading when I’m busy!

Here for some motivation to finish IT myself (only 156 pages left)... 😍🥰❤
Oooh yay! You can do it!!🥳
Looking forward to watching. I’m currently reading “IT” as well. I’m at 25%. Though it feels like that # should be 50%
