You have to press alt the entire time when you do that step otherwise it wont work well I will make another video about it it’s a super useful feature in photoshop!
Sure! when you press alt in windows or option in Mac + click .it allows you to create that arrow that lets you mask the layers it should be click in between the layers to make it work in that particular way!

@@LolaNixoni3332ok what I was trying to explain is that in between the layers the one on top and the button layer there is a line that devide the layers in the panel in that line you press option and thats when you get the diffrent mouse style that will allow you to create the adjustment that I just showed in the video do you think i explain it good enough ? It just seems like a lot of people posting tutorials fly through things forgetting that not everyone will know shortcuts or certain techniques. I’m starting out new to a lot of things with Adobe and although I’m enjoying learning new ways of using photoshop and other apps in the creative suite, it’s frustrating. Thank you for this. I didn't manage to finish the gradient as I'm new to Photoshop and I'm not fluent enough in using the tools and layers, but I admire your work. I get the idea that explaining every step would increase the length of this video but thanks for posting it anyway.
