I'm 6ft. 80kg. Widish shoulders. I would normally buy a medium size jacket. This was my experience with the Merlin Shenstone. Small: I found the small very tight under the arms. Felt bad even just standing . When seated was ok, but still tightish. Length was good in arms. Body length ok. Medium: Just ok under the arms. Felt comfortable enough when standing and fine when sitting. Length good everywhere. Body too large and arms a bit loose. Felt like an issue for padding moving around in a crash. Overall the quality feels great.
The bottoms pockets are made from heavy plastic material and blocking the airflow. Also I found the sleeves way too long for me. I might get those two things fixed if I decide to keep the jacket otherwise I’ll go with the Eclipse. There was a brown available as well but not the best choice for summer colours as someone already mentioned. Tan, sand or khaki green would have been great.
about to buy my first bike, Triumph Street Twin 900, and I'm currently purchasing gear. My K6s helmet should be in this Wednesday. I'm a big fan of Merlin style and this jacket is on my radar. My question is this - I'm 5' 7" and have roughly a 41inch chest with a 32inch waist. I think a Large is what I register on the sizing chart...should I go for a Medium in this? I would like a bit of room to wear a sweatshirt or something underneath for cooler days but don't want a huge jacket. Thank you for any replies.
Welcome to riding! If you are measuring at 41" for the chest, a size MD would be the safer route to go with from the crash-perspective. If you are wearing a hoodie for more than 50% of your riding, that's when you'd want to consider sizing up. It'll all come down to personal choice but we always recommend sizing for the majority of your riding so you are best protected in a crash - not for the occasional cooler day but that's just us.
How is this jacket for really warm riding? It can get to 45 Celsius during summer. I have a Yoxall jacket currently but it's too hot when it's over 25.
@@drewnader1726 what are your measurements? Height? Weight? Chest? Etc... Looking at getting this jacket but I don't if I should go small or medium. Typically I'm a medium but it's seems this jacket runs a bit large. I'm 5'8, 170, 39.5-40 inch chest. Any info will help. Thanks!
@@GerardoLopez-ki4cu Not sure of my measurements, but I'm 5'8 and 160 and it fits perfectly, but I can't really fit anything other than a t-shirt underneath. I'd say if you like a snug jacket go small, or go large for a looser one that you can fit a sweatshirt or something underneath in case it gets cold.
American fit for Merlin is referring to the chest / shoulders / sleeves. Some American-fit brands do add extra space at the waist, but merlin has an Athletic-American or Tapered-American cut. More so than almost all other Euro brands we offer. Ride safe!
Are you guys going out of business or something? I’ve tried giving you my money several times this year and nothing I’m wanting is in stock. Four different jackets… every size is sold out. You guys gotta sort this out… other sites have stuff in stock so I’m starting to shop elsewhere.

Everything I’ve gotten from Merlin is top quality, stylish and safe
Nice jacket. Since it is supposed to be a summer jacket, It would be nice to see it offered in a cooler color option like a tan or light grey.
They have olive

Good review. Balanced and thorough. I don’t need the rain protection but this still helped me understand the Merlin options. Thx

How strong is the Cotec in the event of a crash? Really like the jacket but hear waxed cotton shreds.
It's AA rated so pretty good I think 🤔. Just got mine today. I love it. If you do get one definitely order a size smaller than usual.
@@drewnader1726 thanks for heads up! Was the same size pretty big for you or did a smaller size fit perfectly?
@@Forteeb0 I usually wear a medium for everything, but I listened to alot of peoples advice, and went for a small. Perfect fit

wHY cant manufacturers just agree on a szing chart this guessing game is quite irritating.
When are you going to get the Merlin Chigwell back in stock?
Just bought a black large. Still out of brown
Merlin says late September
Merlin tends towards an American (beer belly) cut? Wrong. Slimmer, euro shape
