The funny thing about seeming judgmental is that we (or at least me) are some of the LEAST judgmental because we naturally seek and understand all angles of everything. The lack of emotionality appears cold and the deer in headlights stare appears oppositional, when it’s actually just our default look when being attentive and absorbing information.

@@haijin7484 There is a criticism, and there is a straight up condemning of someone with no sense of good discernment. You can rightly look at someone and conclude something bad about them. But that doesn't mean that you should condemn them completely since most wrong is the result of ignorance. I would even say all wrong is a sense of ignorance, but not everyone has the capabilities or even desire to get rid of their ignorance.

I’m an INTP woman married to an INTP fellow. I can say this about my INTP relationship - our love language isn’t verbal. It’s subtle but very deep. We never talk about our feelings but we are constantly aware of each other and make sure to give the other person a slap on the rear end or something. Grand gestures are lost in translation.

Hey fellow INTPs. If there's one thing i've learned over the past 10 years since discovering I was an INTP it's that emotions, yes emotions, are the single most important quality to understand and master if you want to get ahead and be successful in life, feel fulfilled, and have good relationships with others. Emotions are our weakness. If we can learn to accept human emotions and value them with greater importance, it will only make you a better person.

I'm a INTP-T, I spend a lot of time alone researching and learning by myself. Schedules are definitely not something I enjoy. I get really bored of the same schedule over and over again, which was actually the hardest part about college. The school work was easy, showing up to the same classes at the same time everyday was the hard part for me. I do try my best not to be overly domineering in a group setting, but often end up being very involved as I usually end up being the idea guy. I often end up making friends with other INTP people as I can relate to them and have more interesting discussions. The outcast thing is true, I can get along with pretty much anyone in a social setting, but I rarely end up actually being friends with them over time.

INTP-A. Never thought of myself as intimidating at all. I also don't think of myself as judgemental, but I can understand why people feel that way. It just seems impossible for me to keep my mouth shut when I think something is silly or irrational, and oftentimes, I just have a need to over explain things, or a need to just know more. I pretty much love everybody, and I just want to really understand what they're "feeling."
It's been tough for me to relate to people over the years, though. I also suck at reaching out and keeping track of people, which makes it seem like I don't care. I do. I just always have so much on my damn mind. It can be overwhelming.

As an INTP-A and also a sagatarious, I'm brutally honest to people, but whenever I do that people always feel that I'm attacking them, well I don’t, I just try to make them feel good. I'm having a tough time with my friends, they think I don’t care at all. It’s hard sometimes, sometimes I feel something is broken inside of me.
I can't blame people for that too, It's unusual behaviours, I get it. But we are one of the most supportive people that they can get. We are just stuck inside our head and thinking all the time.

I believe this is a surface level of the understanding of ITNP emotionality.
Makes it sound as unfeeling robots.
This is not the case. They (we) do have feelings. We just try to process them through thought to understand them better, and pick the best course of action. This takes time.
So it is understandable why other people might the wrong idea about what is actually going on.

I say exactly the same thing to my wife: it’s not that I don’t feel or am uncaring. I actually do feel emotions very intensely, but I don’t like ceding my brain’s control to the messiness of my emotions. I process and relate to them in a rational way, analyse the reasons for those feelings in order to try and understand them better, and everything is always parsed (and passed) through the rational part of my brain first before I’ll allow myself to indulge that feeling (or not). I’ve a deep distrust of unbridled passion or enthusiasm, whether in myself or in others, as I think one’s emotions need to be guided by critical reason and not the other way round: passion that is not given structure, or isn’t guided by logic, can become a very dangerous thing indeed.

The heat we experience from the sun actually initially takes the form of light. The heat from the surface of the sun does not make it to earth. That heat dissipates into the near unlimited and extremely cold space. The light from the sun which reaches earth, which penetrates to the surface of earth, some will be absorbed and heat will be radiated back outwards into the atmosphere. Then the water moisture and greenhouse gases will absorb and refract back the heat; warming the earth.

One time on a summer camp there was a problem on a gas pump that was meant to heat water for everyone. Story short, the thing caught on fire while the ladies were taking a bath. I was the only who think it logically so I told a friend of mine who is very athletic to put some water on a blanket and cover the thing until the fire went off, I directed ladie out of the dorms and gave instructions to most people in the middle of the chaos. Everything ended well, pump was changed and all that stuff, but a friend of mine who mayor's in psychology at the time said, "wow for a short little guy you took it like a champ" (I am like 5'3 xD) I explained everything to her and see replied "you must be intp" So here I am looking why she said that and figuring this whole Myers Briggs thing out with lots of research, I am still not convinced but it is pretty cool too know that other people can isolate or ignore emotions like intps hehe.

3 tests: 2=INTJ, most recent=INTP, AvPD. I am not sure if they are inseparable. Hindsight is always 20/20. What I did not understand and no one clued me in on are the consequences. Your/my tendencies to rather be alone isolate us. Is that not what we had in mind. The problem (at least for me) is that I did not learn all the social communication rituals most people learn like they learn their 'milk' language. The longer it goes on, intimidating becomes dislike, your social networks are never built which kills your career, you have fewer and fewer friends until you end up like me: no friends, 2 daughters who do not talk to me and I do not talk to them, same for 1 sister. If you are lucky, you/me find a partner who is stubborn enough to put up with your b.s. because, for some unknown reason, she can see how much you want to love someone and how much you want to give. But they are few and far between and they die. One day you/me realize how much loneliness hurts.

He’s athletic, solitary, not afraid to voice his own opinion, extremely intelligent, but yeah doesn’t really care about feelings especially if it’s someone he doesn’t care about. He’s popular though because he’s gorgeous. I remember girls gushing on him not knowing we were related.
But he’s also my best friend and very authentic. I but my gosh he can get very chatty and sometimes he burns my social battery out. He can also be quite sweet and quirky too if he likes you. It’s just a question of opening up to the correct person I think. It’s just difficult to find a partner for INTPs and other sapiosexuals as lowering our standards won’t help us a bit. And some people might think that heated discussions feel like a personal attack, when in reality it’s something enjoyable. It’s quite difficult to find someone who can go toe to toe with you right? 😂 cheers to us all. My new beau is also an INTP gosh now if he could just avoid being off topic that would be perfect. 😊

Guys, this whole video is a generalization, ofc there are different INTPs out there. Each person’s experience molds them so some of the facts stated here are true and false at the same time. True because they apply in general and false vecause they don’t apply to every one. I myself for example I’m very good on the emotional aspect, but it took me years of therapy to learn that, so there are INTPs there with a high emotional intelligence as well.

As being an INTP myself is that we are emotional spunges, we need to detach emotions specially if we are empath INTP. When we use our detachment ability it makes us seem as we are cold and that is because it's our way to survive. I can alter negative energy around people and that is because i happen to be a Heyoka INTP, it's like having a switch off/on button so we can use that switch whenever we choose. This can confuse people so that they aren't able to read through us that easily, so when you see an INTP making a desition it isn't to drive anyone mad it can depend on in what kind of mood the INTP is in. They are very similar to INFJ because they can also tap into others feelings even if they use more logical thinking. For example we are also good at taking emotions as well as we can filter emotions and that is also a huge strength as being a Heyoka empath. Think of a library with tousands of books, there will be very hard to find that book an INTP person didn't already go through. As they go forward their detach and attachment ability to that specific area is very cool because they do it without even trying.

INTP here. No offense, in the workplace I try to make everyone's life as easy as possible and if I see someone making life difficult for me or anyone else I really get mad about it. Why do we get mad? Why does it feel like I'm so invested in it? Because I'm fucking lazy! I created a system that makes everything easy for everyone and all you had to do is listen to me, but no you fucked it all up! You're the asshole not me.
This being said, I rarely get mad at my subordinates or co-workers, I get mad at my boss and my managers. You need a guy to chew out a manager and make him feel like a worthless idiot? Well, that will be me. I'll be the first to stick my neck out on the line in order to make things the way they need to be. Fair for everyone.
About being intimidating. I rarely get this way toward anyone, unless they've pushed every nerve in my body over and over again. At that point, yeah, If I feel like you're trying to manipulate me, gaslight me, or try to treat me less than human, then don't be surprised if the police show up and I'm in handcuffs.

The Lack of compassion angle in this is way overexaggerated. INTP's are great listeners, and have no problem putting someone's needs above our own. There isn't a need to make the conversation more 'interesting' or more about us, like some other types. The problem comes from a tendency for our response to be trying to provide a possible solution, or using a personal experience to describe how we handled it rationally - when some people just want you to be on their side and share their emotions with them - which just isn't natural to INTP's.

    • @dashphonemail
      @dashphonemail Рік тому +1

Well said. INTPs are good listeners because they're genuinely curious about things, and don't feel the need to be the center of attention. All people (unless they're sociopaths) have compassion. Each personality type finds different aspects of compassion that come more and less naturally to them

    • @Ichthyodactyl
      @Ichthyodactyl Рік тому +2

I think that INTPs ARE great listeners and they generally care about how other people feel. I also think that INTPs have a tendency to view those feelings as problems to solve and so can get caught up in the 'solution' side of other people's grievances and it can sometimes be hard for us to JUST listen. We WANT to help and just listening can often feel like we're only helping in a superficial way, rather than actually fixing the problem. I think that's where a lot of that perspective comes from; people wanting INTPs to just listen to their grievances and not try to help them fix the underlying problem and INTPs can often struggle to do that.

i took the myers brigg test twice and got the genius one first and the logician second, from my experience, i have many “friends” but i dont consider them such. Many people are attracted to me for some reason even though i do everything in my power to not be friends with them. For example, while i was in HS (2 years ago) I would always sit alone and just be myself people would be assigned to my table and instantly i could tell they liked my vibe because they were talking a lot. I consider myself an introvert because of the fact that i dont like people, id rather be at home doing nothing than have to go to a social event and interact with people I dont want to be with. Its not the fact that i hate them in particular, i just hate interaction. I would consider myself socially awkward and shy, but people tell me that i seem very friendly and extroverted (its just me playing nice) I harbor no hate for these people. I dont seem to even understand myself sometimes and have been called intimidating, aloof, lethargic, and sometimes even solemn. One thing about me is that i try to follow a set of morally superior rules upon everyone including myself, if someone doesnt meet up to my expectations of being a “morally good” person i immediately start hating being around that person because they are selfish and ignorant. Believe me, i study a lot and know what i am saying. Most peeps can be categorized into 2 groups in my world, selfish n non selfish. A morally good person would be a non selfish person and someone who portrays that in their every day life. I study my surroundings and seeing the same people everyday in HS naturally me curious and i would study them and their behavior too. There are very distinct and clear indicators in the way a person talks, moves, dresses, acts, etc you just have to be observant and open minded as to what youre seeing. Idk thats just a small dive into how i think and would like to see what others have to say ❤❤

You explained INTPS by the 4 letters not the cognitive functions. This is not a good explanation of the type. It really puts and makes it look like INTPs are just robots of intelligence. And saying we don't care about others feelings is sooooo misleading since it's heavily the opposite. The we don't care about emotions, is a huge concern. I feel that any INTP or any type can learn to exept their own emotions and others. This video is basically saying all INTP men don't have emotions which is completely untrue. INTPS "we think emotions hinder us in the world." My experience has showed me how emotions are useful and very important. This is basically saying that we just hate emotion which is untrue. After the "INTP men can come across as one of the most judgemental people in the world" this is basically type slander at this point. I hate this video now. The video is making INTPS seem that we are just super smart and we are nothing else. The last point I just a stereotype. Anyone could have info on a topic. Also all types use all 8 functions and a INTP is never exactly the same as another INTP. Yes they can have similar qualities, but this video is comparing every INTP to Einstein. Not every INTP is an Einstine. Just don't trust bold claims in videos like this.

Introverted means Introspective. As in you think before you act. Unlike Extrospection, which only learns from external sources and engagements.
Introverts have an easier time responding, not because they don't want to, built because they simply have difficulty understanding how to engage. Some introverts give up easily, but the learning and competitive types are always trying.
Introverted does not actually mean they get drained or need alone time. That might be the case for NF/St types, but definitely not NT/SF types.

About the INTP I know...he is a collector of trivial bits of data about thousands of subjects. Google was invented for people like him eg give me a quick brief answer then on to the next subject.
In dating he is a bower bird "oh look at this shiny gum wrapper I found do you know how they get the shiny part to adhere to the paper part? Here's how." " See. this string it looks like the threads they use in Guatemala for huipiles....those are woven on a backstrap loom, first you find some staight tree branches then you whittle..."
That is how he attracted me Im an INTJ psychology professor and my subject is what I know deeply after a lifetime of study, the literature etc. Someone asked me can a person have a personanlity change due to a brain injury. I mentioned the case of a railroad worker whose personality changed after an accident...famous in the literature, but something few laymen would be familiar with as it is historic.
He piped up "Phineas Gage."..I was shocked. I asked if he studied psychology he said a course in college...but that case isnt discussed. He had read about it . THEN he had my attention.
Actually he knows next to nothing about psychology and has no passion for the subject. In fact he has no passion for any subject except briefly then it is on to something else that glitters in the distance or on Google.
He has a masters in computer engineering and had a good career in the field. He is 83
and of high intelligence it is just scattered over multiple thousands of bits of unrelated data . So an in depth disussion in your own field uncovers that quite readily.
Still, his never ending curiosity is charming and endearing amd admirable. On the emotional level he has great difficulty. He has NO vocabulary for feelings...he feels them he says but he cannot describe them even when talking about relationships in his chidhood family. There is no nuance in describing anything related to emotion. And though he has been married twice for long periods of time he is not at home in his own body or expressive with it . He cant feel in tune with or read someone else's if he cant do that with his own!
People do like him because he doesnt seem judgmental....he seems open and curious. He lets others talk being an introvert and has quite a cadre of people who care deeply about him and his welfare.
    INTPs are indeed unique.
