Good thing those that have become wealthy have invested in across the world. ...speaking of, do you pay rent to a company owned by a Chinese conglomerate or Arab? Asking for a friend.
I lived there for almost two years. As a first-world expat, I was treated and paid really well. At first it all seems wonderful. But it is the Kardashian of cities: It's rich, it looks great from the outside, it is shiny and slick and new. But you scratch the shiny surface and realize quickly that it's rotting from the inside due to the fact that the Emiratis care nothing about human life. In fact, they consider the third-world workers (Bangladeshis, Sri Lankans, Indians, Pakistanis, Philippinas) to be less than human and treat them as such. They tolerate and coddle the Europeans, Americans and Aussies because they have to, but treat the others as slaves. It's a despicable culture and I realized my soul was shriveling by living there and perpetuating the lifestyle.
@@khaledmaher6602 I said “treated as” slaves. It’s not a lie. They are paid almost nothing, work long hours under inhumane conditions, and subjected to horrible treatment.
City without Soul; someone, stated, what I felt in my soul about Dubai. No thanks, keep it all, I will enjoy my little pleasures of life, camp ground, Little coal BBQ, lily of the Valley flowers, Tulips, boat rides....green trees, live with the snow...and the ability to walk or drive down the street to Church, to worship whenever, in Peace. No Artificialness for me. To God be the Glory.
@ur4me100 I am a Retired Black Naval Veteran born in Flatbush Brooklyn New York in the 1950s who has vacationed in Dubai many times on my VETERANS PENSION. I always have a great time vacationing there. No problems whatsoever regarding my racial background, identity, history and heritage. I flew in to the Hotel where they have an Immigration Office to check my Passport. Of course there is the fantastic Rolls Royce that comes with your suite. My advice is for everyone to go out and explore the world and more importantly have a good time exploring it.
Labours/Workers are treated worse than animals in dubai. Countries like India can defend/protect their citizens at least but what about countries like Nepal/bangladesh who give deaf ears to the cries of their citizens. They even don't claim their citizen's dead bodies if tnahey die due to natural/unnatural causes. I request human rights commission to work with the government of UAE & assist citizens of nepal/bangladesh. Wages are paid on the basis of nationality. People are dying.
@@11kwright then the ppl of india hv to put pressure on the govt -- culture has been created by human beings then it can be changed -- a change for the better life!!
You are obviously male. Try thinking like a female and see how safe you feel in a place like India - or indeed in many places in the world. Citizen culturally means men and women are considered very unimportant.
I've been in Dubai Downtown where Burj Khalifa is located.I saw those workers working on their sites. They worked for almost 12 hours/day six days a week with very little salary of about 800-1000 AED e.i Dirham (less than $1 a day) this is fact almost 6-8 workers used to live in a single room. Many companies don't offer their workers proper food,no proper transportation,no laundry,no health insurance and no salary increment.Companies in UAE bound their labor/workers for at least 2 years with holding their passports, workers can't even resign and change jobs. So, I saw workers were in very situation in UAE.I'd like to recommend people not to go to middle east for jobs specially in UAE & SAUDIA.Better stay in your country with your family.Earn less but lead a happy life.
800dhs is 217$ which sums up to (7$ a day) 800 is more than those workers can make in a year in there respective countries .. Nice try to give us a bad name but i feel sorry for u ..
You don't need to feel sorry for me or anyone else.Deduct the transportation, food, medical and others daily expensive. What a worker can save? It's almost less than $1.If I agree with ($7 a day) as you're calculating. You mean $7 pay for 12 hours duty. What a crazy joke.
RockCity009 It is illegal to transport workers unless they are in properly air conditioned buses. They are transported to and from work. Also, during the summer days, they are not allowed to be working from 1 o'clock to 3 o'clock in the afternoon.
Tala Nahhas Yes absolutely you're right and I agree with you.But what about 6-8 workers living in a single room without any laundry? What about no health and life insurance? All workers in middle east including Dubai work for 12 hours. If a man is working for 12 hours then how can he enjoy his social/personal life? They are working in a condition that they can't resign/change their jobs because their passports are held by the company.I think Sheikh's dogs are in better condition than their workers.
Bro if u no so much about UAE u should also no .. its only been around 40 years :) & further more name 1 county in this region or any that u can compare UAE with
All those buildings and skyscrapers were built by slave labor. Poor people who had to pay their way in, had their passports seized, and paid Slave wages. They are so wealthy and stay wealthy for that reason. Money is no object according to the Sheik Mo, if you say so then pay your workers properly and treat them like humans.
I have never been impressed with Dubai. There is a wicked energy there among the seemingly gross display of wealth. I see with spiritual eyes. And what I see is hedious.
@@myme8208- I agree and its getting worse, they take you're children at the border put them in cages like animals some die from neglect and abuse and nothing is done they just blame others.
@@alicem1133 lol culturally poor. You couldn't be more wrong. The difference between us and the west is that we are never distance from our culture and heritage no matter how advanced the country is.
Not the culture, but the choices men make. Anyone can do it! They want to be part of the world and voila the best way is to get into the awareness of people is WHAT? Human beings have an equal capacity for good or evil. Imho. Define it and choose. Any culture can do it. Ever walked Rodeo Drive in Hollywood? Extreme wealth and absolute monarchy breeds this sort of thing. Look who comes to visit and enjoy. They build it and look who comes. Culture? Pshaw. It's Disney World on steroids.
@ Jodie Foster Actually no. It is only when the general populace, all people have a chance honestly prosper that the nation prospers. Slavery actuallybholfs back the greater prosperity & technology.
Not entirely. Just a fraction and just for a comparatively much shorter time. All cultures have had slavery, but islam is the only ideology that encourages it on a massive scale, indefinitely, abd tells muslims they are the best of people and deserve to have slaves. Dubai is not the only one. There are 20-30 million slaves in islamic countries.
most of the Europe countries atleast gives u citizen ship.. where u can buy atleast a house and live after u retire. UAE will kick u out once u r old and cannot work even if u r born there and lived all your life there. this is the truth and everyone knows that

Ridiculous "reporting"... Yes there is racism in Dubai, but nobody forces you to go there. Don't tell me racism is any less in Texas
Lived in dubai from 1978 to 2005. Saw dubai from desert where I used to as a child to a new dubai with sky scrapers but one thing that I have noted about the country there is so much of disrespect for foreign workers and yet dubai is nothing without them.
Since 2010 - 6,750 deaths of migrant workers in Qatar and this relates to the migrants working there for the FIFA World Cup. Imagine the deaths if you include migrants who have died outside the World Cup.

What is the news? I worked back in the Middle East from the 1980's and it was always a case of 'slave labour" whereby the people from Asia desperate to support their families back home would work all hours under virtual slave conditions, working under the full day sun and it gets really HOT. Exploitation is nothing new and has been going on for a long time so what is the news. In some of these Middle Eastern states they nick your passport so you are under bondage and servitude for many years and often do not get the money you are promised. Always felt very sorry for these people but it is all down to money and power.
WHY DO YOU KEEP SAYING 'WHAT IS THE NEWS?'' DUMBSHIT........even if this is known by many people (what goes on in shittsville Dubai)......SOME IDIOTS DO NOT KNOW! THERES THE NEWS DIPSHIT!

Hamad. No they are not free to leave whenever they want. They have to pay to get to Dubai, and pay to return to their countries. Many go into debt to get those jobs, and/or cannot afford to return to their countries. Having the legal right to return is not the same as the practical right.

I'm not condoning slave labor, but just stating the facts. The fact is..anytime you shop at places like walmart, or buy Fruit Of The Loom, and numerous other name brands..you are supporting slave labor. You may even be watching this video on a product that was made in China with slave labor. Where did a huge percent of the US factories go? CHINA, and WHY? To hire slave labor. It's not just Dubai. It is EVERYWHERE.
I completely agree with you and I hate that I'm not in a position to shop elsewhere, at present I just don't have enough money to make better shopping choices. It's time to keep the dialogue flowing constantly until we have the answers and have fixed/nixed the problem of slave labor EVERYWHERE.
A friend of mine's family owns a tea company in India. One picking day, they hire about 100 workers to work from sunup to sundown picking tea leaves and buds, and pay approximately $100 total for the work. Sound like the guys in Dubai are making good money to me at $1 an hour, speaking relatively.

When the former princess of Jordan, the wife of the ruler of Dubai, who at one time was so famous for her independence and rode her horse for competition, driving her own truck and trailer, a professional set up requiring a professional license, which she was the first woman in Jordan to get, showing that women could prove do things that men could do would later on in life, allow her own daughter to be imprisoned, captured and ripped from a boat as she tried to escape the oppressive, sadistic, horrific lifestyle that she is a force to live under the Dubai rulership, why would anybody any woman who has any self respect go there for a vacation, and yet I hear all the time I'm even shocked that women of even modest means have gone to Dubai they can't afford to go to London or Paris, but they can go to Dubai. I had a friend who went there. She said, it was beautiful, it was wonderful and when she wanted to give the person who was her beautician for the day a tip a young woman blanched looked around and said don't even ever try to give anyone a tip that works at any of these facilities, anything that you go to, if they are found with extra money, they will be beaten if they try to give the extra money to their boss, their boss will think that they were hiding other money and they will be beaten you only pay what you have been charged, it will save our lives. You people go to these countries as tourists, you know, nothing of the laws and rules that these Middle Eastern countries have. Don't be surprised when some day you walk into your mom, Minnesota town, just to go shopping and find out that you accidentally broke a Sharia law, and you are now in jail, because you are allowing this to happen in your country, in your cities, in your towns, because you don't want to offend anybody, the world used to not be this extremist. But. When you become afraid of the extremists, instead of stopping them and telling them it is not acceptable here, those ways don't go in this country and you allow them to terrorize you. Then you have given up your freedom.

@ur4me100 More civilized and tolerant of other nations?? Sharia law prevails in the UAE. And, whenever Sharia law prevails..there is no such thing as civilized or tolerant. UAE is not an exception in the Arab world; they are exactly the same as other Arab nations. Their only exception is..they hide it better. But.I can tell you this: Break one of UAE's Sharia laws..and you will find yourself in the same amount of trouble as in any other Arab nation..and the penalty will be just as severe. Hugging a friend in public can land you in jail for many months in the UAE. And, if you buy or sell any kind of drugs..even marijuana..you could face the firing squad in the UAE. So, civilized and tolerant.. the UAE is not..nor are they an exception. Under the UAE's Sharia law..you run the same risks as in any other Arab country..so BE VERY CAUTIOUS when visiting the UAE!!
I wouldn't even do a plane stop over there, their human rights violations disgust me. Going there as a tourist you might as well be 'employing' the staff aka slaves yourself.
@ur4me100 Of course they treated you right because I'm sure you did nothing wrong. But, if you had broken Sharia law..you would be telling a completely different tale. And..yes women do not have to cover their heads. That is a part of what I mentioned before..how they hide things by appearing to be more tolerant. They despise terrorist groups, and yet they terrorize women who have been beaten, assaulted and raped..by throwing them into jail right along with the rapists..for the crime of unlawful unmarried sex acts. What a wonderfully civilized society the UAE is for abused women.

India won't defend anybody. Didn't you see how the majority of people live there ? The workers in Dubai live a lot better.
even in europe -- it doesnt matter what european passport one has -- theyre more interested in the country where one was born
To be honest workers are better paid in India
Tala Nahhas
Yes absolutely you're right and I agree with you.But what about 6-8 workers living in a single room without any laundry?

Not entirely. Just a fraction and just for a comparatively much shorter time. Now I know how those places are run / ruled, and the misery of the migrant workers, (basically bonded labour which is just another form of slavery) I will never, ever go there again. I will never again willingly put money into the pockets of those despicable people. You Sir are complicit in all of this just by living there. You disgust me.
i disgust you for being born and raised in dubai? which i had no control of? im proud of being born here, dubai isnt just buildings and shit, thats what people who have no knowledge of the country think,. Yes i agree that the workers should be treated better but if you compare now from before there has been a major improvement in that, and i run a construction company here and have given the workers what they want, they get a lot of amounts of food, better wage than most countries and much more. Im guessing u visited more than 3 years ago because obviously you have no knowledge of this amazing country that is run by generous leaders
+PS4 XBox1 - I couldn't disagree with you more. The very fact that I am a Yorkshireman born and bred (of ancient Dutch descent), confirms to me that you are just an ignorant fool who makes wild and incorrect assumptions.
keeturbo , LOL.You're such a hypocrite. I could say the same thing about much of the USA. Before we fucked it up, it looked like another rain forest here. How do you think Las Vegas got its name? Do you even know what it means? Now you see skyscrapers and cars and roads everywhere, all artificial
This should be revisited today in the run up to 2020 to actually see what's changed, if anything
Still same. You can imagine how they treated their slaves in lockdown.
when I was there I remembered the old Sunday school song about /the foolish man built his house upon the sand...
A good earthquake needed in that area.
Gabriel Monson . Those who do evil open there house open to a curse that will never leave.
Gabriel Monson I used to sing that too
There is a good chance that the palm shaped island will wash away in 20 or 30 years.
@@e.theresebradley5966 Yeh I heard that Jimmy savile used to sing that song in bleu Peter, and prince of England take his position at the moment you guys have really a brass neck and a memory of a sparrow just look at the comment section lots off surnames are familiar with Zionism😠
All those buildings will be devoured by the sea due to their wickedness.
I would never set foot in that place.
Almighty GOD is going to punished them soon and very soon.
I was thinking all that lavishness can be destroyed in one swift judgment by The All Mighty..
I feel bad for the king of dubai. He can only afford to spend 70 million on horses in two days, so he doesn't have enough to pay his slaves to live a decent life. He has it so hard, thank God our politicians support him!
codemonkeybrains he offered us everything . he build the biggest mosque in UAE for all muslims all muslim all over the world to cme and pray . we also go to him and tell him we want money he gives us . hah Obama he is nothing really nothing he does not give people money he saves it for himself
Good for you.
codemonkeybrains PLEASE DONT SAY BAD WORDS TO OUR COUNTRY
But it's ok for you to say what you did about Obama??? Why??? Are you better than us?
+Noura Alshamisi Fuck off you delusional idiot. Take a look at how your hero Sheik treats the people who built your worthless shit pile of a city that will return to the desert as soon as the oil runs out. It's a fucking travesty.
No thanks. I'll go to Dublin.
Jon Jones yes good choice keep it real much more heart and soul no good craic in Dubai
I was thinking about going but all I see is bad things every one talks about in Dubai and the king and as well as his family
Good call, I have been there once.
You know what though, the US was like this not too long ago. I do understand what the minister is saying about "growing pains" we sit back in our developed country and judge other countries having their civil wars and their labor issues when we went through the same sorts of things when we were developing our nation. I mean we have issues now even, so I wish we wouldn't be so high and mighty about it. I do hope those workers get better conditions, but this is not a problem unique to Dubai
Rebekah Lorraine i love ur comment and its soo true every nation and religion does go through a dark age in its cultural progress
Wait until it all crumbles. Sheik will be riding a bike to work.
Cali Fornia I hope so n soon enough f bastard
Or better yet, a camel.
No a camel
But he will still be inslaving his daughters
I am a woman. I was born in Lebanon. My father took us to America. I never wore even a scarf to cover my hair. My father threw out every bit of the enslavement. He educated us and said to do whatever we wished professionally. He raised us to be free world citizens. For this I am grateful
Though they employ many poor foriegn workers for many years and pay them unfairly they will never allow dubai citizen to work in one day shit. But the government of india and bangaladesh must be blamed also

And has anything changed in 2019 ?. Took this one of my bucketlist anyway
Yea is WORSE
Love Qatar and Turkey better
Dubai is all about irresponsible spending and no permanent population which can't contribute to economy and make it stable.
Wasted money.
It's 2019 and people have only gotten greedier.
its much worse in Dubai and places like that tho///becuse now they show you that you dont matter...before they atleast pretended...so now they are plundering straight out

This video was shot in 2007 or uploaded I don't know, but the conditions are same in labor camps. I must say worst then that. Why don't human rights have any intervention here in uae??
Why don’t The USA take action against Israel?
Human rights officials can be paid off.

I am pakistani and living in paris without documents, believe me french people and police are 100 time better than the rulers of dubai. They took care of us with respect and medical is free of cost no matter you are legal or illegal. LOVE YOU FRANCE YOU PROVE IT THAT YOU RESPECT THE HUMANITY 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Ok so to all the people who are watching this in 2020 or 2021 this video was made more than 10 years ago and I'm an Indian who's living in the UAE where dubai is an emirate and I'm living freely with nothing to worry about and I know many other indians who are the living the same way as me and now dubai is one of the best city's where u can't be homeless if the government sees you homeless they will give u shelter and employment and for all people who are saying this country people should go to hell ur wrong bcse over here racism is not allowed at all and compare it to some other countries where racism is a big issue if u are being a racist u will have to pay a big fine or go to jail because this country is country of tolerance so don't talk about a country u have never ever been to unless there is more evidence on this right now and literally at the end of the videos they told that when the news people left dubai was improving the methods on how to handle the construction workers better.
Look at the documentary on Vice,
Workers have to work in 50 celcius, got no running water, electricity, walk in shit and piss and sleep into a hut where it's 35-40 celcius at night with no cooling.
Bullshit. This is nothing but propaganda. How many Indians working for the FIFA World Cup have been killed in Qatar since 2010.?
I’ll tell you - about 4700 Indians. 6750 deaths in total and this is just in Qatar over the fifa World Cup period.
@@NoaVanSnick but can you explain me how USA was built ??
True GREED. I'm sure he can allow only 1 million dollars to make apartment building that holds these workers they will be much happier
Mr Guzman - Just like corporate America 😉
Mr Guzman he is not greedy he spend money on ppl living in dubai he even made it the safest place in world ,better than indian ministers ,the thing is u are jealous
ItsInTheDetails Greed is everywhere in this ugly world! Does this Sheik think he will live forever? He can’t take it with him! He has so much money that can do so much good to help so many in need, yet he’s sooooo selfish! On the Day of Judgement he will pay for all his Greed!

New babylon of the middle east. You cannot buy character with money. Good luck.
I was thinking of going there with my wife for our 25th anniverssary. Now I will be going somewhere else. I do not want to be a contrinutor to the misery of fellow humans whom I believe were created in God's image just like me.
I was there from 2007-2010 helping with new hotel developement......not enough words to describe my disgust. This coming from an American

Personally I boycott any artist or business that appears in or invests in Dubai. I find it so weird that slavery and indentured servitude is considered horribly wrong in the US but perfectly fine in many of the countries US citizens vacation in.
have you ever even been to dubai? slavery is non existent over there
GlowingAsteroid If you didn't take from the video that they are slaves building Dubai then you either didn't watch the video or have a severe learning disability.
GlowingAsteroid ask Indian and Pakistanis workers in Dubai . you can check the conditions of workers in Dubai on youtube .
DjDialogic From what I've seen of wages in the US, slavery is alive and kicking!
DjDialogic The USA was/is built upon slavery/indentured servitude too! The problem is the American psyche is hypocritical and practices selective amnesia
The PHARAOHS all over again.

@ur4me100 In a sense....YES!! Every Arabic country has men who patrol specifically to promote or enforce Sharia law or moral Islamic codes..including the UEA.
@ur4me100 You're right..UEA is not as violent as some of the other Arab countries. But..they definitely have some dirty little secrets that they try to keep under wraps. And..you are right about reformation too; it would serve them well.
He is breaking many Islamic rules/ Laws 🤔🤔🤔
