    Glad to hear this!! But I desperately need this awesome Animate from Audio feature to be included in the pro version so that we can use it on our custom designed puppets, I can't wait!!🙏

      We did add a head movement from audio feature a while back, but it got bugged at some point and can be jittery between poses (this is a bug in some Animate from Audio characters as well), so I don't recommend it. I am planning to do a future video on how to set up a character for faster Animate from Audio like animations in the desktop app that hopefully works fast but also gives you additional flexibility to edit and customize more. And yes, hopefully one day we can fix the bug and make AFA work on the desktop!

    Any upcoming updates for character animator? Feels like feature growth/refinement has been very slow.

      Much of our team's efforts recently have been on the Animate From Audio side, which we have seen bring in a new audience to the desktop app. This includes some boring but necessary stuff like mobile optimization and backend work for faster renders. So nothing new to announce, but we are still supporting the desktop version - I just wouldn't expect new features at the pace we've had in the past.

      @@okaysamurai the AFA feature is cool, but it really sounds like you’re going to be focusing only on the web version for the foreseeable future, which is a massive shame.

      @@okaysamuraiI would hope that loyal, paying users would be able to upload custom characters and have no limit on clip time. It’s a cool step forward for character animator, but a bit of a kick in the face for everyone that’s been paying for the app for so long.

      The next video I'm planning is going to show how to replicate the AFA process in the desktop app. We haven't been very clear about the background process, so I don't think users quite understand that it's not all really magical and automatic behind the scenes - each of those puppets is pre-rigged with a swap set of trigger/replay poses that we switch between, including silent and talking gestures. So while we use the audio to determine head/pupil/lip sync and when to switch to different poses, ultimately the bulk of the process is the same thing as making a swap set of poses and switching between them. So there's actually a lot of rigging work involved to get things ready for automation. In reality, if you have a correctly rigged puppet, you could replicate the AFA process in the app in less than 5 minutes...hopefully the video will illuminate this!

    I love the Animate From Audio in Adobe Express,
    I hope it will appear in Character, so I can use it with my custom character,
    I also hope that it can have text to speech, so I don't need to do it else where.

    Always loved your videos but this one is just fantastic. Constantly blown away by the quality of animation in these. I'm a product designer now learning a lot more animation and this video has inspired me to do more user testing. It also sounds like Character animator is heading in a really interesting direction, I do wish this new version had the ability to import your own characters, then it would be perfect. If you need tests reach out!

    Hi Okey Samurai is it possible to group puppets in adobe character animator to avoid confusions the same way we do group layers in adobe photoshop. Sometimes the puppets in the timeline are too much and very annoying

    • @okaysamurai
      @okaysamurai  3 місяці тому

      You could do nested timelines, where you record a character performance in one timeline and then put that timeline into another. That's the only setup I can think of that could potentially clean stuff up.

    • @okaysamurai

      Yes, this is how I would do it - ua-cam.com/video/ZJXzjq3nZV4/v-deo.htmlsi=Be5bG2cUwdtt5Wau. Basically you need to do the audio separately, figure out all the gaps, and then upload a track for each character.

    Lovely animation, as you can see I have created my own character out of the curiosity sparked by your video and worked to educate people on how the European Union works in my native language (Czech).
    Now, after few years, I would like to start a new project and I am interested in how you've created this video. Especially the hand drawn effects and the movement, as if you were drawing that all in real time. That is just lovely! Could you provide me with any detail on how you made this video from the scratch? :-) What programs and processes you used? I assume AE, Illustrator, but how did you make those drawing effects, that's something else.
    Thank you in advance.

    • @okaysamurai
      @okaysamurai  18 днів тому +1

      Yep, I made the illustrations in Adobe Fresco on the iPad Pro. It's an excellent drawing app and one of the benefits is it automatically can make timelapses of your drawings! So that's what I did and then I just brought them into After Effects, applied a multiply blend mode, and made them slowly grow/shrink/move to add some more motion.

    You guys are awesome and love all the work you guys are doing :)
    This is awesome, we were playing an online ZOOM games called Spyfall, one of them players didn't have a webcam. So I just fired up the character animator, spend 5 mins making a characters that resembled him. draged the audio, set it to compute and had lip sync and head movement in 30 Mins.
    The browser version doesn't do over 2 mins so its good for shorts and reels.
    The one where you showed dragging action on a timeline would love a version of that integrated on the desktop version. I know right now its turn on recording press the number to do the gesture, which works. But if I want to animate my guest on the podcast, would love it if I can just place emotes and animations on the time line and done with it faster without performance capture.

    I wish adobe would have put the same energy in further developing the desktop app. It feels like there has been no progress in key features that would only need a bit more love to make the app be a go-to powerhouse for all rigging and character animation needs. I really hate still rely on after effects and go through the nightmare of rigging a character and almost break my machine trying to playback anything just because Character Animator is only 90% there yet.

      @@okaysamurai Some (not in order) are: Little more love to the rigging possibilties for turns and 2.5d rigs (feels like there could be smarter or more streamlined ways to do it), To make the physics (like wind) work on top of keyframed animations (last time i checked it wasnt possible and this would have been awesome), making the wind work through adjustable noise, mesh rigging features like weighting, native support for other body types than humanoids, facial expression tracking (thats probably too crazy), an FFD functionality, vector implementation (as i remember its not possible to manipulate vector data to create alternations), asset management etc.

    I'll also say, I just used CA for a project and was a bit frustrated by not being able to drill down into the animations to be able to tweak timing (yeah, I mean key frames!) I love the performance capture capabilities, but making it "right" was a PITA.

    • @okaysamurai
      @okaysamurai  3 місяці тому +1

      If you do keep reaching those limits, you may want to limit the performance capture elements and move more towards triggers and cycle layers - that's how the Disneys and Nickelodeons of the world tend to use CH the most.
