The vulture droid is imo the most underrated star fighter. Like it has an unmatched acceleration it can be carried by any ship and you have millions just laying around. As a pirate get yourself a repair droid fly into any clone wars battle field and get yourself a squared of star fighter you can carry around on your light freighter
Droid Starfighters are such an underused concept in Star Wars. There’s the Vulture, Hyena, Tri-Fighter, and HMP used by the Separatists, and the TIE/d and a couple others in Legends, but that’s about it. And they are rarely, if ever, depicted doing anything a manned fighter can’t. They fly in arcing airplane-like paths just like every other fighter. I’d love to see them doing more impossible maneuvers, like stopping on a dime or flipping backwards to shoot behind them while staying in the same trajectory. Stuff like the Vipers and Cylon Raiders do in Battlestar Galactica. Funnily enough, we got something kind of like that in the prison break episode of The Mandalorian when the droid was flying the Razor Crest. He accelerated, decelerated, and turned so much harder than Mando does. It was a really cool way to show the differences between droid piloting and human piloting, and I wish droid starfighters did that too!
I think the umbaran starfighter is an amazing showcase of unique technology in a diverse but standardized galaxy. It's fast, and incredibly agile with good shields and better firepower
Interesting, as my droid bounty hunter had no problem making full use of the Geonosian fighter, but It was also capable of “speaking” Geonosian as well.
If you had to rename these to being letter-wing starfighters, what would you choose? Mine are as follows: Belbullab-22: M-Wing ARC-170: W-Wing Porax-38: H-Wing Nantex: I-Wing N-1: T-Wing
7:50 clearly this starfighter would be a good ship to use as an unmanned drone fighter. If it is set up for un-piloted flight by a Geonosians, then it stands to reason that it could be remotely piloted with a more conventional system of remote piloting. I am guessing that military-grade electronic countermeasures wouldn’t allow for the starfighter to send and receive weak signals that might be utilized by a pirate organization looking to use these starfighters, (but possibly something with the signal-boosting power, like a Lucrehulk droid-control ship might be able to overcome military-grade countermeasures). That said this fighter, used as an unmanned drone, might be good for use by pirates or mercenaries who might be fighting less-powerful foes.
I agree with these choices as the top five ships of this category. For a larger starfighter top-list of the category would the Z-95 headhunter, The Droid Tri-fighter, the Vulture Droid Starfighter, Delta-7B Aethersprite-Class Light Interceptor (or the Eta-2 Actis-Class Light Interceptor), The V-19 Torrent, the RP82 Fiend fighter (as seen in the Ahsoka series) seems to be pretty formidable as an interceptor, The Mandalorian Fang-class Fighter, if his still counts as a fighter the smallest version (the 26-meter-long version) of the Kom'rk-class fighter/transport (in canon there are three distinct sizes of this starship, the larger two are so large they clearly fall outside of the starfighter class, and would probably be a gunship or possible even in the Corvette category).
Some of my favourite "Civilian accessible" Starfighters would have to be Z-95, an excellent basic fighter that was modifiable, easily upgraded and able to stay relevant from well before the Clone wars, to well after. Toscan 8-Q. A strange craft. Designed as an "open frame" starfighter that could be bought and modified to a really extensive degree to suit a customers needs. Unfortunately it never saw it's full potential unlocked. The AD-1S gets an honorable mention for taking this idea even further. Both would excellent fighters that could be tailored to the needs of a wide variety of customers. The Skipray Blastboat stretches the definition of a "fighter" a bit. But if a long range heavy escort is needed then it is an excellent. It's heavily armed and tough enough to scare off lighter opponents. Plus has the range to reach targets far away, or keep up with a convoy. MandalMotors made the Scyk, Dunelizard and Kimogila fighters. An excellent series of fighters from a quality manufacturer.
All great options, especially the Z-95. I love how nobody can agree on what the Z-95 should look like. I’m pretty sure every book, comic, show, and game it’s appeared in has looked a little bit different!
The one ship I wish you'd included was the Z-95 Headhunter which was created in Legends, I believe the first place it was seen was Han Solo at Star's End, where Solo used one to defend an outlaw tech base where the Millennium Falcon was being modified. There have been several versions of this ship from an early swing wing fighter that was optimized for atmospheric flight to the common proto X-Wing version with four engines, which Mara Jade favored, to a twin engine version used in the Clone Wars.
If I had the choice, I would use a Porax-38. I don’t know what the Jedi were thinking, not using a fighter with its own hyperdrive. I would never want a ship without one. The P-38 checks all of the boxes I would want checked for any fighter. Speaking of, what is wrong with the Vector fighter?
Oh, I knew I was forgetting a good one! The Vector would have been great for this. Although being designed so that only Force users can fly it properly is a pretty big drawback... Then again, the Nantex physically cannot be flown by any species other than Geonosians, so the Vector is very accommodating in comparison!
Sad reality is that all of these ships are in fact slower than most Combat Jets on Earth... ARC 170 Top Speed is 652.4 Mph which is just a hair faster than an F-86 Sabre which is a very old Jet at this point in time. IE 1st Generation... We have Birds in the sky now that are Double that Speed... KPH hides just how slow they are.
Most stats like that come from reference books, or worse, RPG sourcebooks, and don’t really make much sense or reflect what we see on screen. Although on the other hand, the speed is in-atmosphere and Star Wars ships are not usually as aerodynamic as they could be, so I could see them being slower than fighter jets.
@@RadioFreeCoruscant Yeah it's pretty unfortunate... In space it would not really Matter but in atmosphere I don't see them matching even the Venerable Phantom of Vietnam... Only the Shield would be a Counter but not for long...

4:32 when I saw the Rogue-class starfighter on that episode of The Mandalorian, I was very excited. It’s an awesome fighter!

I’m more of a Starviper fan myself.
Very cool vid! Thank you :)

I did not know Durge had one of them P-38s. I will now , attempt to squeeze his action figure into my magnaguard fighter
Great Video yeah still a Huge fan of Dins N1 still also can I make A Video suggestion can you make a video examining each vehicles control console
Ooh, that’s a really good idea. I’ll have to think about that!
I feel like the Fiend fighters from the Ahsoka series would fall into this category. Maybe not among the best, but an honorable mention.
I actually thought about using those, but I would have had to make up all the stats for them, so I went with the Belbullab-22 instead!

It was named after a letter, the letter Z.
@Tora-no-shi I mean, to be fair, that’s not any worse than the N-1 that I included…
Fang/Gauntlet
Z-95
Vulture/tri-fighter
Zenuas 33
Delta-7/Eta-2
Various Uglies
Ah, I knew there was something from Rebels that I was forgetting! I’ll have to use the Fang in a part two sometime. The others are great as well!
What about the Ginivex starfigter

mandalorian fang fighter
The N-1 is named after a letter. It's literally named the N-1. Maybe you meant starfighters not named "[something]-wing"???
alpha class xg1 starwing .... but well the good stuff was thrown away by those disney morons but well legends is the true canon
