Tone also partialy comes from from the player/fingertips. I talked with Nuno Bettencourt from Extreme. He told me when he finally got to meet Eddie Van Halen and got to sound like Eddie but wound up sounding like himself. He said "Very disappointing"!!!!
J.D. is my favorite guitar player here in Nashville. I recently saw him jam with his band at Dee's for well over an hour straight (talk about stamina). His drummer Adam is ridiculously good too. Besides being a badass on guitar, J.D. works super hard, and deserves every bit of attention. He's the real deal and I'm proud to say I know him.
While I definitely miss JD's Marshall stack (and, I did literally miss them, since he was already playing Fenders, Traynors, etc. by the time I actually got to see him live in my area), as long as he's still got his trusty '62 335, all is still right with the world...
This is gonna be a great rundown. I hope he features the silvertone chris isaak, I picked one of those up in the beginning of lockdown when JD got me hip to them - those are hidden gems, a silvertone with factory bigsby and Gibson made pickups!
I trust he's well. Sensational player. Watched him many times with Don Kelly and the Travis Mann band. There's many guys around that I'd think "wow.. Great technical prowess" but JD had something different and unique to offer. The tone he used to get from his old deluxe reverb was absolutely kickass... Haven't heard another like it since.
I've fitted 2 bigsbys, one on a les paul and one on a old greco 335 copy never had a single issue with tuning stability. Strange some people have problems with them
JD is such a Cat! always dig his playing, his Tone, and his singing. I love the out of Phase tone, especially on a switch. Got to make that happen for one of my guitars?
I wonder why he had to go into the pickup to alter the wiring for out of phase. I did it on one of my guitars by just switching the wires at the volume pot.
Jd changes his story ALL the time lol🤦♂️ he said back in the day when the stop tail piece was on there, and he was asked about the snake bite that the original owner had the bigsby on there and that he took it off because he liked the Clapton look and he says in another video that HE calls it big red. The guy reminds me of john mayer where they both will change story's to go with their change but the ridiculous part is is that they are both so talented that it's like 'shit guys just claim it and except being who u are a d what u like people dont care! We just love what they do and for WHO they are!'✌

It's about time! Love ya J.D.!
Big fan of jds. Jd knows tone, and hes of the school of playing fundemental techniques properly . Killer vibrato too
I love the rig rundown because I feel like I'm there! Just talking and learning about cool guitar s!!!
JD Simo looks vastly different every time I see him
JD aged that 60 year old guitar another 60 years since he bought it! Things gonna be a toothpick by the time he’s 50.
great rig rundown
That out-of-phase pickup switch was awesome and had more quack than a duck.
I've fitted 2 bigsbys, one on a les paul and one on a old greco 335 copy never had a single issue with tuning stability. Strange some people have problems with them
He is such a monster player.
Never forget when JD Simo did the WLH demo for Duncan and he was drunk.
Amazing artist.
Absolutely brilliant thank you

Great lnterview great show. Great.🎸 playing guitar so sound great audio
It’s cool he actually played it, it’s kind of annoying when they just show the gear and don’t play it.
Hope he’s doing okay, JD seems like a cool cat and is a mean player, be well man.

If he doesn't loose some weight he won't be around that much longer for us to enjoy.
Simo is nice rocker blues Man
Joe Glaser is really trying to keep that guitar intact despite JD's awesome savagery hahahahahah. I love this guy!
I have a question.... when did you get the 1962 Gibson ES335
I literally thought this was Marty Schwartz at first😂
Lol me too, JD has unfortunately gained so much weight, why doesn't he play his Telecaster anymore?
Wow he’s become very heavy hopefully he gets control so he can be around longer
Ummm excuse me that’s fat shaming. You sound like an insurrections, terrorisms, science denier huuuwhite supremacist bigot.
Yeah :/

@@premierguitar just watched the whole rundown. My new favourite. Great laid-back interview. 😎👍
JD is turning into BB King
I was going to say, I seem to remember him looking much, MUCH different
@@johnqpublic2718 significantly.
@@hackdog69 eh well, I packed on the pounds when I had kids too...
@@johnqpublic2718 yup, and I don't think all the touring he does helps anyone's diet.
More like JD Semi

HOLY CANNOLI !!!!!!! JD has put some lbs. That bat flu got a buncha people overweight. My daughter put on 80lbs during lockdowns.
Everyone needs to quit body shaming JD. Let’s come together and enjoy viewing his gear and NOT his body and his movement!
Quarantine got us all!
Sweating, breathing heavy. Geez JD, time to lose some weight.
Turn up volume, hear buzz. Ouch.
That's funny he didn't put the pick guard back on because he didn't have a screw. Certainly can't buy one at hardware store, I guess.
It has a grounding issue!
Is that Marty music
Boy, haven't seen JD in a very long time! Looks like he's grown up, and out. LOL --gary
I love JD but its time to change the lifestyle…
Damn JD! Thick, heavy strings for good tone; not arms, shoulders knees and toes and fingers too! 😂But, as usual, great playing!
Looks like he did more than just play guitar during the "pandemic."
Why did you put pandemic in quotes? Also, I'm sure this super successful dude gives a shit what some rube behind a keyboard thinks about him.
@@joebwannabe what? Calm down, lady.
@@johnqpublic2718 I'm perfectly calm, Qanon. I just don't like assholes.
Oh look another Gibson 🥱
