Glad to see The Blossoming on here. I didn't see anyone I know talk about that record this year and I've just been totally obsessed with it. Two albums I haven't seen talked much about on year end lists that are gonna likely be my 1 and 2 spots are Perchta - D'Muata and Selbst - Despondency Chord Progressions. Other favorites this year included Hoplites, Suldusk, Veilburner, Firtan, Occulta Veritas, and Grylle.
Dodsrit, Selbst, Hail spirit noir, Gaerea, Vafurlogi, Saidan, LVME, Parfaxitas,Djevel and a lot more i am forgetting rn would my extra additions from me. Good year for BM.
I know you didn't ask 😅, but my list looks like this: -Akhlys : House Of The Black Geminus -Pestilential Shadows : Devil's Hammer -Austere : Beneath The Treshold -Vorga : Beyond The Palest Star -Corpus Diavolis : Elixiria Ekstasis -Wormthrone : Enlightned Through Darkness -ColdCell : Age Of Unreason -Servant : Death Devil Magick -Silhouette : Les Dires de l'Âme -Yoth Iria : Blazing Inferno -Panzerfaust : The Suns Of Perdition - Chapter IV : To Shadow Zion -Deathless Void : The Voluptuous Fire Of Sin -Bythos : Chthonic Gates Unveiled -Other World : Tenebrous -Wormwood : The Star
Some of my favourite black things this year: Aara - Eiger Schammasch - The Maldoror Chants: Old ocean Mork - Syv Djevel - Natt til ende Ungfell - De G'hörnt Sjæleangst - Sjæleangst Horn - Daudswiärk Beenkerver - De rode weduwe Walg - IV Dödsritt - Nocturnal will Solbrud - IIII
Great list and I would add Khors - Letters to the Future Self Spectral Wound - Songs of Blood and Mire Merrimack - Of Grace and Gravity Konigreichssaal - Psalmen'O'Delirium Akhlys - House of the Black Geminus Thy Catafalque - XII: A Gyönyörű Álmok Ezután Jönnek Schammasch - The Maldoror Chants: Old Ocean
I would say that black metal and bands adjacent to that scene was my number one most listened to metal genre of this year! Some of my favourite albums were*: - Nocturnal Will by Dödsrit - Coma by Gaerea - Temples Colliding In Fire by Inconcessus Lux Lucis - Eiger by Aara - Chariot Sun Blazing by Skagos (their first album in 11 years!) - De Ghörnt by Ungfell - Visual Kill by Saidan - Songs of Blood and Mire by Spectral Wound - L’Impôt du Sang by Conifère *NOTE: not all of these records will end up on my award show style video that I am planning for January. It was a stacked year for music; probably one of the most loaded years for music in a long, long time.
My picks would be : Labyrinthus Stellarum - Vortex of the Worlds Kanonenfieber - Die Urkatastrophe Dodsrit - Nocturnal Will Wormwood - The Star Hauntologist - Hollow Kvaen - The Formless Fires The first 3 are in my top 10 of the year. Hauntologist, I am not sure because I don't like as much the second half of the album. The first half is 12/10 though. Wormwood I kinda lose interest the last 2 songs before RO. Kvaen is a good album that I listened a lot to but nothing as great as the best songs of my others picks.
Hi guys, I like your top ten, even if there are other bands I would have put in mine, inlcuding "Houle - Ciel cendre et misere noire" and "Aquilius - Bellum II" And by the way, Oubliette are American but Houle are French ;-)
I'm definitely more of a death metal rather than a black metal fan, but I must give credit to Aara for creating an EXCELLENT release with 'Eiger'; that would be my clear pick for black metal album of the year... 👌 The Panzerfaust album 'The Suns of Perdition - Chapter IV: To Shadow Zion' was also pretty darn good, maybe because they incorporate some death metal elements... 🤗
That Wormwood album is fantastic in my top 5 off the year ,Im surprised no 1 has mentioned Grozas Nadir its a brilliant album in my top 10 off the year .
Besides the Labyrinthus Stellarum album, I think '1349 - The Wolf and the King' is a stellar album (some incredible solo guitar playing. It contained enough creative elements for it to be a very enjoyable listening) . 'Mørk Gryning - Fasornas tid' is another album which took me by surprise. The listener will hear some atmospheric references to their legendary 'Tusen år har gått' album, but this time around they've added some clean vocal choires and some power metal influences, which I'm usually not very fond of. Old 'Forest - Graveside' continues where they left off with some mid paced, groovy black metal.
My Top 15 for 2024 : 1. Ungfell - De Ghörnt 2. Aquilus - Bellum II 3. Sabbat - Sabbaticult 4. Paisaunt / Olde Throne - Cearwylm & Misneachd 5. Darkthrone - It Beckons Us All… 6. Æthĕrĭa Conscĭentĭa - The Blossoming 7. Riitasointu - Pedon leikki 8. Perchta - D’Muata 9. Ink & Fire - Emblazoned Visions Yield Eternity 10. Anges de la Mort - Notre tombeau grand ouvert 11. Vampirska - A Liminal Heart Paints the Deepest Shade of Serenity 12. Bütcher - On Fowl Of Tyrant Wing 13. Inquisition - Veneration of Medieval Mysticism and Cosmological Violence 14. Heraldic Blaze - Blazoned Heraldry 15. Kir - L’appel du vide
iOTUUNs new one is def in Top 5 for me,,, those emotional clean vocals are wonderful... On the traditional side, i think Djevel's Natt til Ende is quite incredible too
Groza - Nadir !!! Really great and emotional Post (Atmospheric) Black Metal. They also have a feature with Harakiri for the Sky in the Album. Definitly my Album of the year, check it out if you dont know them. They evolved from a Mgla Clone to a really really awesome band with their own style.
Brazilian BEASTS of 2024: 1. Divine Pain - Destructive Measures (Death Metal - Bahia) 2. Amen Corner - Written by the Devil (Black Metal - Paraná) 3. Profane Anger - Posthumous Memories (Death Black Metal - Rio Grande do Norte) 6. Spiritual Hate - Malvm Perpetvm (Black Death Metal - São Paulo) 7. I'd go for Akhlys - House of the Black Geminus too, not your trad black metal, and Inherits the Void - Scars of Yesteryears for something more melodic.
I can't understand how people can only pick up 10 albums. This was a magnifying year for black metal, impossible to make a top 10. I have over 130 best albums in my shorts vids.
@forgemastermetal you would be surprised. More and more people joins every day to the black metal world. That's why I make short vids, no matter how much people will watch, it's about all those great bands and albums. That's why I can't just choose 10, that would make us look like novices. I've been collecting black metal albums since 1995, I never had chosen an AOTY It's Impossible! 😂 I said I have over 130 albums for this year, perhaps I could take my favorites but I'm afraid that I have a least 40 personal favorite albums of 2024 😁 I'm a Black Metal Fvcking B1tch You Know 🤘🏻🖤
The exact black metal albums I loved this year were many, and from your list, I only added Amiensus and Wormwood to mine. If I were to include all the bands that I thought were amazing, my list of favorites would easily reach 200 albums! but my final list is 75: ua-cam.com/video/djVj1oVzAcM/v-deo.html

Also really loved Dödsrit - Nocturnal Will Black Birch - S/T Vananidr - In Silence Descent Weltenbrandt - Transzendenz Schatten Romantik Dawn Treader - Bloom & Decay Horn - Daudswiärk Together to the Stars - The Fragile Silence Special shoutout goes to Caelestra - Bastion, an album that was only released mid-December - it's basically blackend Prog that sounds like a combination of Devin Townsend, Kardashev and Astronoid. Absolutely phenomenal.

Dude, how can you miss Aara - Eiger? 😮
It's album of the year for me ❤
Scrumptious atmospheric black metal from Swiss Alps 🏔️🇨🇭
Glad to see The Blossoming on here. I didn't see anyone I know talk about that record this year and I've just been totally obsessed with it. Two albums I haven't seen talked much about on year end lists that are gonna likely be my 1 and 2 spots are Perchta - D'Muata and Selbst - Despondency Chord Progressions. Other favorites this year included Hoplites, Suldusk, Veilburner, Firtan, Occulta Veritas, and Grylle.
It'sa growa forsure. JUST LIKE ME.
Sear Bliss its absolute killer if album from start to finish 🤘🏼
Dodsrit, Selbst, Hail spirit noir, Gaerea, Vafurlogi, Saidan, LVME, Parfaxitas,Djevel and a lot more i am forgetting rn would my extra additions from me. Good year for BM.

That Sear Bliss album is outstanding listened to that so many times.Last time was yesterday 🤘🤘🔥
Gonna check out wormwood and hauntologist for sure
You miss Zørza - Hellven guys
I would say that black metal and bands adjacent to that scene was my number one most listened to metal genre of this year! Some of my favourite albums were*:
- Nocturnal Will by Dödsrit
- Coma by Gaerea
- Temples Colliding In Fire by Inconcessus Lux Lucis
- Eiger by Aara
- Chariot Sun Blazing by Skagos (their first album in 11 years!)
- De Ghörnt by Ungfell
- Visual Kill by Saidan
- Songs of Blood and Mire by Spectral Wound
- L’Impôt du Sang by Conifère
*NOTE: not all of these records will end up on my award show style video that I am planning for January. It was a stacked year for music; probably one of the most loaded years for music in a long, long time.
2024 was a good year.
2023 was better, we got
new SHINING & MARDUK albums.
Saw sear bliss live in a basement playing stuff from the new album. They are great
cistvaen!!! How the fuck did I missed this band! Great shit
Right!!
My picks would be :
Labyrinthus Stellarum - Vortex of the Worlds
Kanonenfieber - Die Urkatastrophe
Dodsrit - Nocturnal Will
Wormwood - The Star
Hauntologist - Hollow
Kvaen - The Formless Fires
The first 3 are in my top 10 of the year. Hauntologist, I am not sure because I don't like as much the second half of the album. The first half is 12/10 though. Wormwood I kinda lose interest the last 2 songs before RO. Kvaen is a good album that I listened a lot to but nothing as great as the best songs of my others picks.
Hard to pass over an extremely hard working band like Hulder with their album “Verses In Oath”
Hi guys, I like your top ten, even if there are other bands I would have put in mine, inlcuding "Houle - Ciel cendre et misere noire" and "Aquilius - Bellum II"
And by the way, Oubliette are American but Houle are French ;-)
Great list. But where is Paysage D’hiver - Die Burge?
Didn’t make the cut for us, but good album worthy of mentioning. Thanks for adding it in the comments
Paysage d'Hiver - Die Berge. Best black metal album of 2024
I'm definitely more of a death metal rather than a black metal fan, but I must give credit to Aara for creating an EXCELLENT release with 'Eiger'; that would be my clear pick for black metal album of the year... 👌
The Panzerfaust album 'The Suns of Perdition - Chapter IV: To Shadow Zion' was also pretty darn good, maybe because they incorporate some death metal elements... 🤗
Just heard SETH and Cistvein for the first time a couple of days ago, but goddamn they are good.
Da fehlt definitiv Panzerfaust mit sons of perdition 4. Labyrinthus Stellarum ist der Hammer, hat mich dies Jahr sehr erfreut.
That Wormwood album is fantastic in my top 5 off the year ,Im surprised no 1 has mentioned Grozas Nadir its a brilliant album in my top 10 off the year .
What style would y'all say Skeletonwitch is? They scratch an itch no other band I know scratches as well
Besides the Labyrinthus Stellarum album, I think '1349 - The Wolf and the King' is a stellar album (some incredible solo guitar playing.
Acathexis - Immerse
An Autumn - Ethereal
Dödsrit - nocturnal will
Krallice - Inorganic Rites
Aara - eiger
My Top 15 for 2024 :
1. Ungfell - De Ghörnt
2. Aquilus - Bellum II
3. Sabbat - Sabbaticult
4. Paisaunt / Olde Throne - Cearwylm & Misneachd
5. Darkthrone - It Beckons Us All…
6. Æthĕrĭa Conscĭentĭa - The Blossoming
7. Riitasointu - Pedon leikki
8. Perchta - D’Muata
9. Ink & Fire - Emblazoned Visions Yield Eternity
10. Anges de la Mort - Notre tombeau grand ouvert
11. Vampirska - A Liminal Heart Paints the Deepest Shade of Serenity
12. Bütcher - On Fowl Of Tyrant Wing
13. Inquisition - Veneration of Medieval Mysticism and Cosmological Violence
14. Heraldic Blaze - Blazoned Heraldry
15. Kir - L’appel du vide
iOTUUNs new one is def in Top 5 for me,,, those emotional clean vocals are wonderful...
On the traditional side, i think Djevel's Natt til Ende is quite incredible too
The new Wormwitch self-titled record deserves a lot more attention
Groza - Nadir !!! Really great and emotional Post (Atmospheric) Black Metal. They also have a feature with Harakiri for the Sky in the Album. Definitly my Album of the year, check it out if you dont know them. They evolved from a Mgla Clone to a really really awesome band with their own style.

I have more than a top 10, people just don’t watch videos these kinds of videos that long.
What’s your favorites of the year?
@forgemastermetal you would be surprised. More and more people joins every day to the black metal world. That's why I make short vids, no matter how much people will watch, it's about all those great bands and albums. That's why I can't just choose 10, that would make us look like novices. I've been collecting black metal albums since 1995, I never had chosen an AOTY It's Impossible! 😂 I said I have over 130 albums for this year, perhaps I could take my favorites but I'm afraid that I have a least 40 personal favorite albums of 2024 😁 I'm a Black Metal Fvcking B1tch You Know 🤘🏻🖤
My AOTY is Whoredom Rife "Den Vrede Makt"
The exact black metal albums I loved this year were many, and from your list, I only added Amiensus and Wormwood to mine. If I were to include all the bands that I thought were amazing, my list of favorites would easily reach 200 albums! but my final list is 75: ua-cam.com/video/djVj1oVzAcM/v-deo.html
Kawir kydoimos is the best for me
🫴🏼🫴🏼 awe Yeahhhh
A lot of death metal bands here 😅
Waiting patiently for DOOM!!!!!
Next week 🤘
Color of 2024 is Black
Severoth und Ondfodt
5:54 i hate it when civilizsation is on albumcovers or in music videos, it just takes away all the atmosphere...
The album itself is urban themed - I think it’s awesome but I get it
@Forgemaster Metal
I think the other albums on the list are way better. Especially Seth was a nice discovery!
Awesome list guys! Winterfylleth, Amiensus and Wormwood made my list as well. Also really loved
Dödsrit - Nocturnal Will
Black Birch - S/T
Vananidr - In Silence Descent
Weltenbrandt - Transzendenz Schatten Romantik
Dawn Treader - Bloom & Decay
Horn - Daudswiärk
Together to the Stars - The Fragile Silence
Special shoutout goes to Caelestra - Bastion, an album that was only released mid-December - it's basically blackend Prog that sounds like a combination of Devin Townsend, Kardashev and Astronoid. Absolutely phenomenal.
Yeah, screw Ben. Wormwood is fantastic. Stupid good.
🪦🪦🪦
Antichrist siege machine
Kanonenfieber
Dodsrit
Yeah so I’m a Lo-fi purist and I only care about traditional (real) Black Metal soooooo nothing for me here 😂
That’s cool man cheers 🤘
@@SamuelBlackMetalRider new angantyr and hekseblad would be the best in that Style then i'd say😶🌫️
