In this video, I do a side by side comparison of the Astute to the Super Astute and discuss how Tamiya corrected the shortfalls of the over engineered Astute.
ive owned both years ago, so great to see this video. the Super Astute was very underrated. i actually ran mine with a modified front shock tower and fitted Kyosho Gold Shocks 😳
The orginal Astute was modified by many racers back in the day using parts from the more basic Madcap. You can see that the changes in the Super Astute were an evolution of these original mods. I have the an article somewhere that provided instructions on modifying the orginal Astute with Madcap parts. I still own my Astute/Madcap Hybrid and its still one of the best looking buggies
Henry Washington to be honest I’m not really sure. I’ve heard about using madcap parts on an astute to strengthen it up but never heard about using the TTC system on a madcap. I’ll have to look into that.
chaka zulu I believe there is no difference in the wheel size and tire size. Although, the Astute and Super Astute had different style tires. The Astute you see in my video has wider Egress tires on the front. I was able to get them on the buggy using a 12mm hex adapter. I think it gives the car a more menacing look to it. Thanks for the comment.
@@RCRetro Thanks, i seen that the tires are wider in this video but you explained the reason in your other video. Thanks again for your series, they are very informative...
@@RCRetro, I picked up some Egress rims last week and did notice that they are smaller in diameter than the re release Super Astute's (2.2" vs 2.3"). I cant speak for the Astute rims, but i would assume they are the diameter as the Egress?

Nice ! I learned something about the difference on my old Astute & Super Astute's
I just read they're releasing the Super Astute. That's good news for people that need parts, or someone like me that just wants one.
Yes it is... very good news! I'll probably be getting another one. Glad you'll be able to get one as well.
Great comparison of two awesome buggies man!!
Very nice video big thumbs up my friend 😍😍😍
SWEET RIGS!!!!!!! Well done again bro
PhilthyCo RC Glad you like it. Thanks for the comment.
Great knowledge. Thank you 👍👍👍
In regard to the shocks, other then the color, are they identical between the two?
Nice video bro...
are the shock towers the same between the two? body interchangeable?
I know the super is the better car but I still prefer the looks of the original.
Hey......Super Astute???? Does the ball diff fit in my old Mad Cap? Hard to find that part.

anyone know if a dyna storm shell, will fit on a Super Astute chassis?
Good information
The prices are going down on the Super Astute
Whats the difference in front tire/rim size?
