I hate it when good tools are taken away... I imagine their tools to create lenses will continue to be available since that's used primarily for their mobile app. I really hope that doesn't go away. It'd mean we could still create/download new lenses even after Snap Camera is dead.
Thank you nutty for this PSA and workaround information, I definitly did not even know that they were shutting down. Props to Jaku for making the effort to create a 3rd party workaround and backup all the lenses, that is a lot of work and effort!
The key to this procedure without the need for any third party is to set hot keys for every lens you have favorited before Jan 25 while you can still see the preview thumbnails and make a lookup table to document which hot keys are for which lens. Then after disabling Snap Camera you don't have to guess which filter you are apply the hot keys for. If you have a stream deck, then you can map the hot keys with your own text or picture file for that lens without needing to always go to your lookup sheet.

Unfortunately, I did not know about the decision of shutting down Snap Camera and deleted Snap Camera yesterday because I thought my app was malfunctioning because it did not show the lens thumbnails. So I lost all my cache. I have installed the Jaku patched file as you instructed, but it only shows very few lenses. I was wondering if there is any way to add other lenses to it. Does anyone share their cache or does Jaku has provided other ways to add lenses to the app. I really appreciate your help.

So interestingly, after following the steps to put blocks in the firewall and opening up Snap Cam after that, it shows that there's no internet connection, which is good, but its also kept all the thumbnails for my lenses, which is a bonus. Not sure if that's gonna work after the 25th but I should point out that I'm using ver 1.20, not the latest 1.21 version. It also wasn't giving me warnings about the program ending on the 25th (pre-firewall blocks) so I'm taking a shot in the dark and guessing the warning was part of the 1.21 update.
Does anyone else has the weird bug, that no version after 1.18 is working? In 1.18 I can use any lense, but if I install 1.19 or 1.21 no lens is working anymore. I did the workaround and everything works fine, I see all the lenses, but if I click them NOTHING happens. If I switch back to 1.18 I surely, don't see the lenses anymore, but with my backup it is still working. What's wrong? Why does my system don't like the 21?
Hi, I just want to Thank you for posting these videos regarding snap camera. You have no idea how much you saved me, I appreciate you. I backed up all my stuff from installation file to installation folder and filters, and I tried reinstalling it on a different computer, copied all my files and everything but snap camera isn't working. Is there a way, to reinstall the software and all the cached filters on a new computer? I'm using my own filters and it was already too late when I saw your video, I wasn't able to use it and back up using jaku's server. Im sure it would help a lot of people too if you'd be able to teach us how to reinstall everything on a new computer. Thank you.
I followed your directions - this worked great for 8 months! Then suddenly today all my "favorite" lenses are gone. You mentioned tihs happened sometimes even before the shut down and they could be restored. Please tell me how! I'm on a Mac. I have backups of all my lenses. Thanks.

my snapcam was still luckily working today, only the thumbnails were blank so i was able to do the backups. i hope this method will continue to work but it seems that now with the firewall block it wouldnt make sense that it would get turned off anymore.
I didn't know this was getting shut down, and when it didn't work today, I thought it's because I ignored the last update, so I uninstalled to fresh install...no work around for me and I'm so bummed I didn't google it before uninstalling. It just has gone wonky on me before and I always ended up needing to clean re-install so I didn't think twice about doing it. Thinking of cancelling streaming altogether because I used it for makeup and I really don't want to spend over an hour creating the same effect just to stream :( I am so out of practice on it now, I've been fully reliant on it.

@nutty I'm betting if their removing snap camera is most likely bc their either 1) bringing a new/different version of it to the public or 2) snapchat is soon to come to PC and user will be able to make and use filters straight from the PC version of snapchat... idk

I searched for this answer and found a solution on reddit. Apparently the lens is not searchable but if you insert the link into the search bar on snapcam, it should come up for you. I can't insert the link here, I believe my comment will get deleted again (I tried) but you'll quickly find the link on Google after searching 'snapcam my twin'
Im emotionally devestated and im frantically trying to find a replacement. all my stuff was gone when I opened it today. I have autism and its like a security blanket for me in social setting.

(Completely unrelated to the video) basically when I try to use a filter with lots of editing (Such as the cartoon filter or baby filter or bald filter) it places a disturbing wobbly square shape over my face instead of properly working.. My graphics driver is up to date.. I havent found anything for this info

You are right, that's the easiest way for using your collection. But with the patched EXE you can still search for new lenses...

Almost certainly not. Snap Chat still exists, it's just the desktop program that's going away. They still want people making lenses for Snap Chat ofc.

Snapcam removed the ability to search for lenses via their snapcode.
Jaku's patched client brings back that functionality. See the pinned comment.
