I have loved this song since the first time I heard it on the radio! And all these years, I never knew Stevie was on it. Thank you for the beautiful memories.
It's too late to get this one on the playlist, but if you want a better song with Stevie Nicks joining in on vocals, check out Gold by John Stewart from 1979. Stevie's voice is unmistakable throughout the song.
@@quicktastic I always liked that song...it was a great tune on the car stereo that summer of '79. I was 18 and had my first car 😎😄 and I loved loved loved Stevie Nicks 🥺😍
@@davidhapka5410 I know that, we were talking about Stevie in another duet song that was popular! My younger brother bought that album in 1981 as he was a big fan of hers, I was more into rock & metal at that time! It was a great time to be 17 yrs old then!
And add to that the fact that the official music video didn't show her OR Lindsey Buckingham though were listed on the song credits as guitarist and background singers.
Walter Egan was a school teacher when he wrote this song and asked Stevie Nicks to sing it. She had no idea who he was but after reading the lyrics agreed. Its a one hit wonder and he probably went back to teaching
Stevie and Lindsey produced the album. They also sang on the studio recordings, but not the video recording. Walter had a fling with Stevie for @1 1/2 months. I loved this song so much then, and I still do. This song was my teenage years and my teenage brain when time was a little gentler, more innocent (😉🤭), and surely a lot of fun 😊. Life can sure give you some curveballs that you didn’t see coming. Hopefully you learn from your mistakes so next time you don’t have to repeat it. Here’s to next time around people 😁👍!!!
I believe this is before their Fleetwood Mac days, they had a production company together, her & Lindsey, another hit song they produced was TURNING MUSIC INTO GOLD.
Just FYI, this song came out around 1979, Stevie and Lindsey joined Fleetwood Mac at the end of 74 and the first FM album with them came out in 75. They released the Buckingham Nicks album around 73, which featured a song Mick Fleetwood heard when they needed to replace their guitarist that was leaving, they only wanted Lindsey but he said he wouldn't join without Stevie and pop history was made. Cheers!
one of my favs in the late 70s. just a smooth tune with a good sound. reminds me of the girl I always sat behind in class...Thanks for the flashback girl!
I think you would be amazed by Joan Baez’s voice on the hauntingly beautiful Diamonds and Rust which she wrote about her love affair with Bob Dylan in the 1960s.
I was introduced to Walter Egan music in 1979 by my older cousin (RIP 🙏 Rock in Peace) with his Hi Fi album and still one of favorite albums y gotta listen to Love at Last 👍✌️
Besides being a guitarist and singer I believe Walter was a substitute teacher at a local Tennessee high school. Many good tracks off his HIFI titled album...
THANK YOU! NOBODY ever reacts to this song, and it's one of my faves! Both Lindsey Buckingham (who produced this) and Stevie Nicks' voices are singing backup here. If you'd like to hear this song put to good use in a movie, you should watch "Boogie Nights" from 1999 with Mark Wahlberg. This song and many other great 70's songs are on the "Boogie Nights" soundtrack.
This was one of my favorite pop songs from the 70s. It definitely had that 50s throwback feel. If you liked this song, I think you'll probably also like Chevy Van by Sammy Johns - another iconic feel-good song from the mid 70s. Thanks again for the video, Angela. Just keep being yourself!
Great video Angela been a fan for awhile now don’t know why I haven’t commented. But here it goes you have a real appreciation for different music generations keep the songs coming love to hear them all.
One hit wonder and I never knew Stevie Nicks was on it or that it was about her until I read the comments just now. This came out when I was in high school and it was definitely soft and pop compared to stuff I was into but for some reason it was on the radio constantly and it got under my skin so I went out and bought the 45 RPM single to it. Listening to it again after all these decades it strikes me that it is such a simple but beautifully written song.
I have to warn you, most of this is about Fleetwood Mac, but also about how it intertwines with Walter Egan and the group ... I can't imagine how you can hear Stevie Nicks in this song. Only because you mentioned it did I decide to look it up and, of course, you are right. However, both Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks are listed in the song credits, but both are from Fleetwood Mac (and do most of the lead vocals in that group). I've seen the "Official Music Video" (ua-cam.com/video/2RamSFoo0jw/v-deo.html ) and they weren't in it. So, it's strange to find this out. So weird. Researching more and I find out that this song was done AFTER the Fleetwood Mac Rumours album. Actually, the personnel list shows Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham and Annie McLoone as background singers, but in the video, I believe that only Annie McLoone is shown. Now, this song was released in 1976, which could explain the absense of them in the video, because both Stevie and Lindsey were in Fleetwood Mac at that time, so they probably were just used as studio musicians and singers. Additionally, the personnel listing shows Walter Egan (the lead singer), Lindsey Buckingham and Tom Moncrieff as guitarists on the song, so Lindsey was probably not needed for the video. Update: I have verified that it was Annie McLoone WAS the girl in the video, and this part is strange ... because I seem to remember always thinking that there was something going on between the 2 of THEM when watching the video (see link above) in this song, but now I find out that Walter had feelings for Stevie and it is SHE that the song was really written for. This fills in another gap in the Stevie/Lindsey breakup story, because most of the songs on the Rumours album were about her cheating/shacking up with others or her arguing her points. She seemed to be saying in her songs, that he (Lindsey) was the one either, not trying to understand, or using some mystical reasons for the problems between her and "the person in her songs", and he was very straight forward in basically calling her a loose, whorish woman who wanted to be allowed to bounce around from 1 guy to the next and not understanding why that was wrong.
Lindsey buckingham produce the album and lindsey played guitar on it stevie nicks sang back up walter egan had a crush on stevie nicks but who didn't back in the day.
I remember this song as a kid, but I was curious if he had done anything else. FYI, I looked him up and he's produced some 25 albums, two this year and three last year. Wow! Who'd a thunk it?

GOD you're beautiful!!! IF there is ever an opening on your date card, please pencil me in for a simple cocktail!!! I would cherish the time spent with you my lady!!
Stevee Nicks is the middle voice in the back vocals. Its good she blends in , because to my opinion only, she would have ruined the song with the tone of her annoying voice.
I have loved this song since the first time I heard it on the radio! And all these years, I never knew Stevie was on it. Thank you for the beautiful memories.
Same here. I had no idea until just now!
Most people don't know, and most are missing Lindsey Buckingham doing harmonies with her on those backing vocals ;)
Same. This blows my mind.
I think this song was a number 1 hit. It was very popular in the 1970s.
Got to see him perform this on 'The Midnight Special' 💗. Great 👍 song 🎵
it actually features both stevie nicks AND lindsey buckingham on backing vocals. i think lindsey might've produced or arranged this too.
Oh.. NO guilt here!! I’ve ALWAYS loved this song- still do! 🧡👍

That's a great song IMO. John Stewart himself didn't like it for some reason.

an even better one is Stop Draggin My heart Around 1981 with Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers!
@@SquirminHermanthe1eyedGerman Yes, but that's really Stevie's song from her silo album Bella Donna.

Wow. I didn’t know Stevie Nicks sang background in this song. This song came out in March of 1978. Good song.
Loved the hook in this. After I first heard it, I just craved hearing it again. The chorus is "magic" to my ears, just a superior pop song! LOVE IT.
Also Features Annie McCloon, I drove my mother CRAZY ha ha ha playing this song over and over. It came out in May, 1978.
Never knew Stevie was doing background vocal in this song. Kind of hard to tell with multiple background vocalists singing in concert.
And add to that the fact that the official music video didn't show her OR Lindsey Buckingham though were listed on the song credits as guitarist and background singers.
Love this song grew up with this song

Stevie Nicks' Fleetwood Mac band mate, Lindsey Buckingham is also singing background on this beautiful song as well.
Now every time I hear this song it reminds me of the movie Boogie Nights🤔 Love your new hair looking good 😉

Thanks to your reaction to "Magnet & Steel", I learned that Stevie Nicks sang backup on it. Before this, I never knew!

There's a beautiful song by Mike and the Mechanics called "The Living Years" I'd love to see your reaction on, have tissues handy.
I requested this awhile back. She responded that she had put it on her list so hopefully she’ll react to it after the guilty pleasure songs.

Totally had forgotten this song. From the 70s I think. Long before she joined Fleetwood Mac in 1975. She (Stevie) was an unknown.
Lindsey Buckingham is ALSO singing on this background; pretty OBVIOUS. It’s not just Stevie Nicks, it’s 1/2 of the voices of Fleetwood Mac.
2/3. Christine McVie was also a lead singer.
I have loved this song since i first heard it on radio.
the show Champaign played this song loved it since good show 2
I feel like this song was part of the 50s nostalgia in the 70s. I get a 50s vibe from it.
Great 70’s tune
I love this song. Reminds me of college.😊🥰
What a great song that brings back such great memories from 1977. Thank you so much.

Simple and direct song of irresitable attraction. But then again, what man wouldn't have been attracted to Stevie.
Sometimes small songs convey so much.
Stevie Nicks & Kenny Loggins & Linda Ronstadt on back ground
