Promethus the only character with a mask that actually hides his identity. I mean the amount of times oliver is standing next to someone he knows and for some reason the don't automatically recognise his face or voice which is why chase was the best even his alter ego was fake and he constantly changed his voice modulator to make it harder to figure out who he was that's why I like him.
You can say the same about Superman, Supergirl, and Flash. Superman & Supergirl just wears glasses for a secret identity, and Bar he just wears a mask. But no one suspects their identities cause itd be to obvious for them
Honestly, to me he was just discount Merlyn. I was really disappointed with this villian (though not nearly as much as I was with Ricardo Diaz in Season 6/7) I loved his theme though.

To each their own of course, but I tend to notice that people who didn't like Prometheus tended to be "late" fans who perhaps expected to much from him, since he's consistently ranked in the top 3 Arrowverse Big Bads (often alongside Reverse Flash and Deathstroke ). Plus, season 5 came after 4 which was a huge disappointment for the fanbase, so we were maybe over-enthusiastic with him. I was a bit sad at first, because I'm one of the few who actually really likes Prometheus in the comics, so I wanted him to be more faithful to his usual self... I was disappointed later on when they showed early versions of his mask/helmet that looked more like his comic's one, and that then went with the one that didn't even have a single nod to his regular mask. Oh well, I liked Prometheus, even if I was rooting for Vigilante during their little scuffle...

I think I was just hoping for more, and got a little let down. I did sorta like Season 5's concepts. For example, I know everyone hates that they added more heroes and expanded the roster, but honestly I liked the people that joined. I thought Rene and Curtis especially were great additions (I just loved some of the interactions they had with the others and with each other).

(And unlike other Big Bads that were bled to death by the showrunners, like Reverse Flash, they at least took him out of the game when he was still liked by the audience.) The season 1 "game" was to guess which Merlyn it was going to be, Malcolm or Tommy (both have been the Dark Archer in comics). I also enjoyed the expanded cast in season 5, Mad Dog in particular was great, even if in season 6 he started to annoy me as times. Dinah was cool, wish her thing with Vigilante lasted longer, and that Vigilante lasted longer in general, at least until the end of season 6. Curtis, well, I might have liked him more had I not been a fan of Mr Terrific already, of which the Arrowverse one is a pretty bad representation... Season 5 also had a nice cast of villains, and it was nice to watch them also fight each others, with Prometheus taking on Tobias Church and his gang (I just wish he woud have been Tobias Whale, but then we wouldn't have gotten *Black Lightning* , so...) and Vigilante. Still, it's the Arrowverse, I like it a lot but my expectations are constantly tempered, so when something is really really good, like the *Elseworld* crossover (still my favorite to this day), the Arrow season 7 prison arc, Lex Luthor in *Supergirl* season 4 and later, or much later both *Superman & Lois* & *Stargirl* , it's an even better surprise. Dinah's addition to the story was pretty good as well. I did like what they did with her. And Vigilante was not a bad character. Kind of wish he'd been more of a villain of his own season though. Maybe having it where he and Arrow spend the season arguing about methods and end the seasons with him and Arrow fighting each other for a final showdown. I also hope that they don't waste Diggle's potential. I really like his character and still hope he will get his own series one day, whether it's the Green lantern series, or the Young Justice style series he's been rumored to be a part of (Or something like heading a younger generation hero team).
Seeing Segura in She-Hulk has made me really wanna go back to season five of Arrow, he was just so good as Chase/Prometheus, definitely a favorite of mine, season 5 was fresh but nostalgic and really good
And it broke a big part of Oliver. Lian You brought Oliver several psychological problems, such as Thea in a coma, Diggle injured and whether he wanted to or not, William, who had to adapt to Oliver, who henever had emotional ties.
All of them broke Oliver. Merlyn is directly responsible for his 5 years in hell by sinking the boat which leat to his father's suicide. He beat him so bad that he lost faith in himself and was nearly killed by Firefly. He later would be responsible for Tommy's death which made Oliver swear to stop killing. He also made Thea kill Sara Lance. Deathstroke shattered Roy, killed Moira, and depressed Oliver to the point he nearly sacrificed himself to Slade. Ra's al Ghul killed Oliver for all intents and purposes. He nearly killed Thea, forced Roy to fake his death, and nearly made Oliver the new Ra's al Ghul. Damien Darhk crippled Felcitiy, killed Laurel and blew up Havenrock. Prometheus made Oliver kill Felcity's boyfriend, made him admit he is a monster, and killed his baby mother. Richard Diaz got Oliver sent to prison. He killed Quentin Lance and took over Star City for a bit. Emiko Queen did less than the others. She could have saved Robert and Oliver from the Queen's Gambit but didn't. She also tricked Oliver and betrayed him after he started treating her like family. Anti-Monitor killed Oliver twice.
His appearance in season 6 was my favorite part of that season. Not taking a shot at the season, I just love Prometheus that much. He’s my favorite Arrow villain. After him it’s probably Wintergreen from the first season ( and briefly season 8)
I’m telling you Prometheus is my favorite arrow villain and I’m surprised that Stephen Amell’s favorite villain in the show is Prometheus as well. I really wish I could get a cosplay of it
Prometheus and Zoom are memorable Arrowverse villains. I enjoy both Josh Segarra's and Teddy Sears's respective performances. Still, part of me would have liked to have seen Michael Dorn as full-on Prometheus and Tony Todd as full-on Zoom. Incidentally, both actors played Klingon characters in _Star Trek: the Next Generation._ That fact plus hearing Michael Dorn voicing Prometheus ➡️ season 5 was _Arrow's_ warrior season, truly glorious.
Prometheus was a good villain but it's kind of hard to believe that he would give Oliver a hard time in a fight. Oliver wrecked Ra's al Ghul and Prometheus was trained by Thalia who was inferior to Ra's al Ghul
Two of them are suppose to be of roughly equal skill, with Prometheus only real advantage being that he planned most of his moves for years, so he was always couple of steps ahead of Oliver. However, power inconsistency has always been huge issue with "Arrowverse", because at some point we are suppose to believe Thea Queen could beat Oliver in a fight, and poor Flash fights guys like Reverse Flash and Savitar, then gets sucker punched by... Peek-a-Boo?

Couse Oliver has like 10 years of experince and Chase has only 4. But Oliver mostly fights with him bare handed and his arrow, and Chase has much more weaponry. And every time they fight they are either interupted or one of them has to run away for a reanson. And Oliver obviously doesn't want to kill him, and just handcuffing him isn't easy. Like he tried to shoot him with those cables to sustain him like he did with Slade in seanson 2 at the end, but Chase cought him. Most of Oliver's wins over the villains came by killing them in 1v1 Malcolm Dark Ras, but he didn't wanted to kill him. So in an arrow form where he doesn't allow himself also to kill puts him in a far disadvantages situation, he is still often got the better of the fights like 60-40% aside when he got ambused by Talia and things like that. Especially in the final fight where was no further plan and they weren't interupted and Chase only had 1 sword and Oliver had 1 arrow he kicked his ass pretty much didn't took any significant damage and cought chase who later escaped but still
@@Nana-hy6zt I mean Chase had 4 years training under Talia. Malcolm spent 2 years in the League and he was able to beat Oliver many times, until he kina leveled up a bit. But Chase also uses 2 weapons and not one, so he got a big advantage to close the experience gap. He still couldn't beat Oliver in a fair 1v1 just hanging there until something interupts them or something. At the end in a 1v1 with 1-1 weapons nobady coming inbetween them Oliver beat him up
I realize that now but, if Malcom Merlyn is like Eobard Thawne, Simon Morrison is like Hunter Zolomon. For the first two, they both created the hero (Green Arrow as of Merlyn, Flash as of Thawne) and are "reverse" of what they are, while as of Prometheus and Zoom, they both break the same hero to the point their actions changed them for the worst (Prometheus broke Oliver to the point he made him admitted that he liked to kill and proved his points many times, Zoom broke Barry to the point that he made him create Flashpoint, changing everyone's lives)

It looked less "choreographed" than their S5 fight in the bank, and more brutal too. It's a shame he died so quickly, I would have loved to see Vij' last at least until the end of season 6. Maybe have a nice fight with Ricardo Diaz?

7:00 This is my favorite fight between Oliver and Chase. You can tell by this point they are acting purely from rage, their usual fighting styles are completely absent here. They are just attacking each other like wild animals.
This season showed just how well you can have a primary villain(Prometheus), a secondary villain(Vigilante), and a tertiary villain(Talia) if the writing is done perfectly.
It was ridiculous how his secret identity was revealed. He just takes off his mask then makes a phone call on a payphone. It should have been a better reveal.
It was on purpose. They use the reveal to build up tension in the story. It's like that metaphor: If you have a scene in a Baseball Stadium, but then you show a bomb just below the stadium, all your audience is gonna be worried. You just rised the tension and the relevance of everything that is happening on screen, because now everyone is expecting an explosion.
the reason they did it like that was because most comic book fans thought that Vigilante was Adrian Chase (like in the comics) so when he took the mask off it was crazy for the fans. i remember blowing a gasket
I liked Prometheus as a villain but I wished that Arrow would stop making Oliver’s “sins” a story line. Like the amount of times Oliver had to atone made watching the show tedious. Like the whole reason for Prometheus trying to destroy Oliver was because Arrow killed his dad who was a very bad man himself. Like I would’ve liked to have seen Oliver stand his ground more and be the actual protagonist of the show instead of being the punching bag for every other character. Like how many times this man gotta save someone’s life in an impossible situation only for someone to tell him there was another way they themselves couldn’t think of. Couple that with the fact that the show spent more time trying to make Felicity right in most aspects even though she was wrong in every situation, and this show went from great to very repetitive
Season 5 actually made thematic sense, because S3 and S4 were somewhat poorly received and dropped in ratings, so they decided to "go back to the roots" which is why we got someone who's very similar to Dark Archer and even editing and fight scenes were closer to S1 then dull, lifeless action scenes in S3-4. I remember watching S3 finale and being stunned how much Felicity yapping about her feelings took screentime from, you know, wrapping up season's plot. Like I wanna watch Green Arrow fights Ra's Al Ghul, not Felicity repetitively talking about her feelings.
I never noticed adrian and Oliver's dad both died the same way. Shot themselves in the head, both used a revolver, both did it in front of oliver. I imagine seeing adrian do that must've brought back that painful memory
Great choreography yet they can't count bullets or use a different gun with a larger clip or ammo capacity. He appears to be using a magnum at 11:00-11:22 which have 6 shots until a reload is needed, but he shoots about 30 rounds at him with no reload. 😂
I haven’t seen seasons 6-8, (nor season four) so I like to imagine this was the end, and Ollie just had to raise his son after everyone else he loves died on the island.
That's your opinion but I would rather see Oliver raising his son and his team survived. I may sound like I am defending Season 6 but I am really not. As Season 5 ended, it was time to go back into its soap opera mode and I wanted closure to that cliffhanger, that's all.

That guy was a badass, but he was kind of a recurring joke in the Arrow fanbase... Long story short, before this episode aired, Wendy Mericle (a regular writer/producer for the 5 first seasons of *Arrow* ) told us (in a featurette) that the fans were going to be excited when they see Scimitar, because he's a big DC character and all, and we would immediately recognize him, etc Then the episode came out, and everyone was confused, "this bodyguard was badass, but wait who the hell was he supposed to be? Weren't we supposed to go nuts when we'll recognize him? Anyone knows?" Turned out, Wendy Mericle made a mistake, and a common theory is she was actually thinking of a Marvel character named Scimitar...
I wish Merlyn would have fought him at some point. 2 dark suited villains going at it with an arrow-sword combo would be a great showdown. By the way team arrow should have called Merlyn sooner in the seanson not just at the end, he got too little screentime in this seanson especially. Ra's al Ghul killed Oliver for all intents and purposes. He nearly killed Thea, forced Roy to fake his death, and nearly made Oliver the new Ra's al Ghul.
Damien Darhk crippled Felcitiy, killed Laurel and blew up Havenrock.
Prometheus made Oliver kill Felcity's boyfriend, made him admit he is a monster, and killed his baby mother.
Richard Diaz got Oliver sent to prison. He killed Quentin Lance and took over Star City for a bit.
Emiko Queen did less than the others. She could have saved Robert and Oliver from the Queen's Gambit but didn't. She also tricked Oliver and betrayed him after he started treating her like family.
Anti-Monitor killed Oliver twice.

His appearance in season 6 was my favorite part of that season. Not taking a shot at the season, I just love Prometheus that much. He’s my favorite Arrow villain. After him it’s probably Wintergreen from the first season ( and briefly season 8)

Prometheus and Zoom are memorable Arrowverse villains. I enjoy both Josh Segarra's and Teddy Sears's respective performances. Still, part of me would have liked to have seen Michael Dorn as full-on Prometheus and Tony Todd as full-on Zoom. Incidentally, both actors played Klingon characters in _Star Trek: the Next Generation._ That fact plus hearing Michael Dorn voicing Prometheus ➡️ season 5 was _Arrow's_ warrior season, truly glorious.
His fight never gets old
This was an Absolutely Amazing Masterpiece Video for My All Time Favorite Antagonist’s in Arrow.
Prometheus was a good villain but it's kind of hard to believe that he would give Oliver a hard time in a fight. Oliver wrecked Ra's al Ghul and Prometheus was trained by Thalia who was inferior to Ra's al Ghul
Two of them are suppose to be of roughly equal skill, with Prometheus only real advantage being that he planned most of his moves for years, so he was always couple of steps ahead of Oliver.
However, power inconsistency has always been huge issue with "Arrowverse", because at some point we are suppose to believe Thea Queen could beat Oliver in a fight, and poor Flash fights guys like Reverse Flash and Savitar, then gets sucker punched by... Peek-a-Boo?

Still he should be beating him but he also did it eventiully.
Couse Oliver has like 10 years of experince and Chase has only 4.
But Oliver mostly fights with him bare handed and his arrow, and Chase has much more weaponry.
And every time they fight they are either interupted or one of them has to run away for a reanson.
And Oliver obviously doesn't want to kill him, and just handcuffing him isn't easy.
Like he tried to shoot him with those cables to sustain him like he did with Slade in seanson 2 at the end, but Chase cought him.
Most of Oliver's wins over the villains came by killing them in 1v1 Malcolm Dark Ras, but he didn't wanted to kill him.
So in an arrow form where he doesn't allow himself also to kill puts him in a far disadvantages situation, he is still often got the better of the fights like 60-40% aside when he got ambused by Talia and things like that.
Especially in the final fight where was no further plan and they weren't interupted and Chase only had 1 sword and Oliver had 1 arrow he kicked his ass pretty much didn't took any significant damage and cought chase who later escaped but still
That’s what’s annoying about CW shows. Like there’s no way prometheus should be keeping up with Oliver. Even Ricardo Diaz was keeping up with him.

Malcolm spent 2 years in the League and he was able to beat Oliver many times, until he kina leveled up a bit.
But Chase also uses 2 weapons and not one, so he got a big advantage to close the experience gap.
He still couldn't beat Oliver in a fair 1v1 just hanging there until something interupts them or something.
At the end in a 1v1 with 1-1 weapons nobady coming inbetween them Oliver beat him up
That 6x18 was the piece of the cake to make Prometheus truly olivers greatest Enemy. Like sherlock & Moriarty from "sherlock".

I realize that now but, if Malcom Merlyn is like Eobard Thawne, Simon Morrison is like Hunter Zolomon.
For the first two, they both created the hero (Green Arrow as of Merlyn, Flash as of Thawne) and are "reverse" of what they are, while as of Prometheus and Zoom, they both break the same hero to the point their actions changed them for the worst (Prometheus broke Oliver to the point he made him admitted that he liked to kill and proved his points many times, Zoom broke Barry to the point that he made him create Flashpoint, changing everyone's lives)

It looked less "choreographed" than their S5 fight in the bank, and more brutal too.
It's a shame he died so quickly, I would have loved to see Vij' last at least until the end of season 6.

This season showed just how well you can have a primary villain(Prometheus), a secondary villain(Vigilante), and a tertiary villain(Talia) if the writing is done perfectly.
It was ridiculous how his secret identity was revealed. He just takes off his mask then makes a phone call on a payphone.
It should have been a better reveal.
Probably would've been better reveal when Talia told Oliver that Prometheus was Adrian Chase. The moment Oliver knew the whole fandom knew.
It was on purpose. They use the reveal to build up tension in the story.
It's like that metaphor: If you have a scene in a Baseball Stadium, but then you show a bomb just below the stadium, all your audience is gonna be worried. You just rised the tension and the relevance of everything that is happening on screen, because now everyone is expecting an explosion.
Prometheus did it most likely on porpose to get caught. To get olivers team for lian yu.
the reason they did it like that was because most comic book fans thought that Vigilante was Adrian Chase (like in the comics) so when he took the mask off it was crazy for the fans. i remember blowing a gasket
I liked Prometheus as a villain but I wished that Arrow would stop making Oliver’s “sins” a story line. Like the amount of times Oliver had to atone made watching the show tedious. Like the whole reason for Prometheus trying to destroy Oliver was because Arrow killed his dad who was a very bad man himself. Like I would’ve liked to have seen Oliver stand his ground more and be the actual protagonist of the show instead of being the punching bag for every other character. Like how many times this man gotta save someone’s life in an impossible situation only for someone to tell him there was another way they themselves couldn’t think of. Couple that with the fact that the show spent more time trying to make Felicity right in most aspects even though she was wrong in every situation, and this show went from great to very repetitive
Season 5 actually made thematic sense, because S3 and S4 were somewhat poorly received and dropped in ratings, so they decided to "go back to the roots" which is why we got someone who's very similar to Dark Archer and even editing and fight scenes were closer to S1 then dull, lifeless action scenes in S3-4. I remember watching S3 finale and being stunned how much Felicity yapping about her feelings took screentime from, you know, wrapping up season's plot. Like I wanna watch Green Arrow fights Ra's Al Ghul, not Felicity repetitively talking about her feelings.

I never noticed adrian and Oliver's dad both died the same way. Shot themselves in the head, both used a revolver, both did it in front of oliver. I imagine seeing adrian do that must've brought back that painful memory
Great choreography yet they can't count bullets or use a different gun with a larger clip or ammo capacity. He appears to be using a magnum at 11:00-11:22 which have 6 shots until a reload is needed, but he shoots about 30 rounds at him with no reload. 😂
I haven’t seen seasons 6-8, (nor season four) so I like to imagine this was the end, and Ollie just had to raise his son after everyone else he loves died on the island.
That's your opinion but I would rather see Oliver raising his son and his team survived. I may sound like I am defending Season 6 but I am really not.
As Season 5 ended, it was time to go back into its soap opera mode and I wanted closure to that cliffhanger, that's all.

(a regular writer/producer for the 5 first seasons of *Arrow* )
told us (in a featurette) that the fans were going to be excited when they see Scimitar, because he's a big DC character and all, and we would immediately recognize him, etc
Then the episode came out, and everyone was confused, "this bodyguard was badass, but wait who the hell was he supposed to be? Weren't we supposed to go nuts when we'll recognize him? Anyone knows?"
Turned out, Wendy Mericle made a mistake, and a common theory is she was actually thinking of a Marvel character named Scimitar...
