- How to make a simple noisemaker out of a drinking straw. The pitch can be varied by changing it's length, either by cutting it shorter, adding finger holes, or adding a second straw that slides in and out like a slide whistle
What a great teacher!
I made an hyperbass straw, and it was 1 meter long.
Its range was to E1-G4
dark a_andre .05 jesus you are a real genius
Keep up the good work! The world needs more kids interested in science!! Your students looked like they were having a blast. I bet they don't have near as much fun in any other class..... and they'll remember that :)
Thank you friend! Amazing! Great DIY with children! Thank you for sharing
It's so much fun!! Gonna do it with my students today. Thank you for giving all the options and demonstration!
1:04 . . . the girl was laughing so hard, I thought she was going to cut her nose!!
Love the explanation!
Tammy Bobo HI Tammy, glad you like it
I wish I had a teacher like this
3:32-3:35 It sounds like a bunch of bees!! I love it!!
O senhor é um excelente e professor inspirador!!! Vou usar muitas das suas dicas nas minhas aulas.
The trombone and f hole guitar were very cool
Espetacular suas aulas!
Pretty slick. And of course there might be a practical application... On YT, once in a while I've noticed clips about a tube or rod driving a speaker coil/magnet set up, driven by the wind that makes a few volts worth of electricity. There's a Company in Spain that has one or more patents on these widgets, and as they're pretty cheap and so on might be a partial answer to the world's climate change problems?
You can also use the 'reed' end facing away from you, then inhale to make the same noise. I've personally had much better experiences doing this with very low flutes, though it ruins the sound of higher ones.
Thank you, that is an excellent suggestion I've never tried that
Straw be like: "Eeee, EEee, EEEe, EEEE!"
I made this at school and home its so funny it mite take a while 😂😂🤣🤣😂🤣😥😥😥😥😥and tired
whats the real name of that flute?
itsBoxyFish slide whistle
Now you know what is the real reason of plastic straw ban.
Im from the future were in a pandemic
Thats a kazoo and a Slide whistle? but good video
Bummer....we cannot get it to make a sound....I've tried various diameters of straws.....biting down doesn't seem to do anything in particular.
+Caroline Cook I'm not sure what is wrong. We've had a lot of success with this, with all different size straws. Biting down gets the edges of the straws closer, about 1/8 of an inch. Sorry to hear it didn't work
+Bruce Yeany (Yeany Science) Luckily my son, the Tuba player, showed us how to make it work! It is a somewhat precise mouth position. It's not just like blowing in a party horn. More like blowing concentrated, focused air from the center of the lips. Almost like blowing a balloon with how the lips are held. Hope this might help someone else.
Caroline Cook it helped me! Thanks!
I made a bass straw
How?? I coat blow it
Hi
I like your clothes
So noisy
OMFG ITS NOT A FLUTE
You're right it's not, flutes don't have reeds.
Its more of an oboe due to the double reed concept
Bruce Yeany not a god damn trombone either
