I lived a sinful alternate life style until about 20 years ago. Then I came back to the church. My sinful behavior was not encouraged by the church thanks be to God. I lived that life and I feel so bad for this decision. How can we bless sin? And couples living together outside of marriage? With children? Where does this end? I'm 62. I am a same sex attracted woman (SSA). I have lived this lifestyle decades ago as my protest against God. Then I found the Eucharist and became Catholic. I immediately knew that I could not continue with the homosexual lifestyle. I chose Christ. Then a Catholic priest abused me spiritually and sexually for many years. Now I am finally free. I have forgiven him, this has set me free. I am still SSA. Now I live a chaste and celibate life. My German Catholic church had no official blessing for me, so the Protestant church gave me a blessing. This blessing had a deep impact on my life. Now I love Christ more than ever before. He is my love and my life. This is true freedom and true blessing.

I am protestant but even I understand that the bishopric of Rome has gone down to the Apostle Peter. So far nobody has rung the prophetic alarm bells. If the bishop of Rome becomes an apostate, this has serious prophetic import and anyone who actually believes in scripture should be very concerned. We Prots believe the same thing , Pastors should marry if they are called to , as Peter and others in the bible all did! Thank goodness many Bishops conferences have given this mad pope of ours a flat NO. They have rejected this evil document. On another note our orthodox brothers must deal with the huge wound of divorce and remarriage within the orthodox church . You need to return to the proper traditional practice of no divorce as our Lord insisted.

Catholic priests are more involved in same sex relations, orthodox priests get married so they are not involved, they are protected. All priests should encourage Love for God, and hate for sin. Sin keeps us away from God. Go and sin no more.
The non-liturgical “blessing” cannot take place in Church nor can it give the appearance of a marriage. However, any blessing of a “couple” involved in sinful sexual activity is impermissible as the Vatican stated clearly in 2021. Gay persons who are living celibate, chaste lives with all its struggles can certainly receive a blessing INDIVIDUALLY to encourage them in their discipleship and to call down the Lord’s merciful grace upon them. But members of the same sex who are sexually attracted to each other cohabitating while sexually active is against Catholic moral doctrine and that relationship cannot be blessed. Period.
What is not talked about more but should be is not just the blessing of ss couples themselves but the malevolent and apparent satanic subversion being done by the Vatican. It is beyond obvious they do not literally, word for word, believe in scripture and tradition. Thank you for an extremely interesting dialogue. I am Greek Orthodox and I love my Church. I am also homosexual and have been in a monogamous relationship for 38 years. It was sexual love, and I pull that word, 'love', from my heart, for at least 25 of those years, but it is now the blessed harmony of understanding, sharing and support, without the lust which was important when it was there. But we have only come to this serenity through that combination of desire and love. And we have more than I witness in the cases of many heterosexual couples, whose only experience of Christianity is a wedding in a Church, the party afterwards and, frequently, the divorce. In many cases, there is never a 'marriage'. My partner and I are Civil Partners. That is our marriage. It is a legal and emotional bond. I am totally against same-sex marriage within any Christian Church, but there is much obfuscation here. Indeed, the damning charges of paedophilia and homosexuality in the Roman and Anglican Churches are a blight from the evil one, but there are also many examples of homosexuality within the Orthodox Church, and to pretend that marriage is the solution is disingenuous to say the least. I know many Orthodox priests, at least two of them Archimandrites, and some married, who are basically homosexual. They do not all give into carnal expression of this, but some do. Very interesting remarks by the Orthodox Priest in regards to treating every person kindly, regardless his orientation, including a blessing as an individual person. This decission of the Pope will only cement those who are living in sinful relationship in their way of life and choices, it will steal from them the Grace of God to repent and to start a life that He raelly can bless. Besides, St Paul recommend the churches always to clean up from any immorality, so that a small sauer portion will not spoil the whole flock. Even the words of God are ambiguous if we don't interpret in the spirit of the truth. As pope clearly has said, sin cannot be blessed. This gives the priest the opportunity to proclaim the teaching of the church in the blessing itself. There will always be disobedience to the pope. The sin of disobedience is even more dangerous. We have to actually listen to what the pope is actually saying. There is no blessing of homosexual union and never will be.

I am glad that people like you are airing these important issues that are misleading and not truthful to the old doctrines of the Church. The laity are the church and need to speak up and call out the wrong doings of the doctrines being altered to be seen as accommodating to same sex attraction so not to marginalise such people. Where are the Cardinals Bishops and Priests who are in the higher ranks to speak out and share their opinions and objections and to make it known to their congregations to vote and give their voice to the contradictions from the Vatican. Not to mention the corruptions within the Vatican its' self. What about the priest who abuse and keep on practicing with no consequences taken to their actions of abuse.
My grand-mother married a divorced man. When he died, she was 56, she went to a convent and during 2 years, she did the hardest work for the community.

Has a protestant who became a Pentecostal I am studying orthodoxy. I went to an assembly of God Bible school. I have a bad biblical studies degree. Most protestants would be emphatically against Blessing 😍 same-sex unions even on the way as it’s described by what the Pope said but this issue is like you said affecting everybody You mentioned the Methodist from what I have been reading. This issue was splitting the Methodist Church right down the middle. In fact millions of people have left the United Methodist Church over this issue and have started their own new Methodist denomination. I fear for the Catholic Church and what they have done with this issue, the pope needs our prayers, and so do all the priest that are struggling with this what we need to do though is treat, same-sex couples with compassion and concern, and not judging Christ did not judge the woman caught in the act of adultery. We love people but hate sin. We Orthodox accept everybody as they are, but aproving the sin? This indeed has a bigger impact to the masses in general than just gay couples. Im not even christian but, what this move tells me is that, catholic faith stands for nothing. Im not understanding why critics are so opposed to the document, it literally is telling priests its ok to give a short blessing to people even if they are involved in irregular relationships. It is very clear that the relationship itself is not to be blessed nor encouraged. Its telling clergy basically to not turn people away, instead do a quick prayer for them, in an individual manner.

Agree. There is a biology to sin. There is a medical diagnosis for nearly every sin imaginable (or was). There are drivers and inclinations that lead people into different sinful pathways. Some are instilled through societal norms and indoctrination (taught), others are desires and sin that come more naturally to us that we must struggle, reject, and overcome. To blanket yourself in your sin with pride and justification is loving that sin above God. To encourage and praise someone in their sinfulness is not love at all, in fact the most hateful thing imaginable. To label yourself with a sin accompanied by "Christian" is an anathema. To openly admitting to struggling with a sin is something entirely different. They're wanting their sinfulness acknowledged and even celebrated, or in this case blessed.
As Catholics, we must respect other people who are different and accept them with warm open-hearted hands, not judging, not excluding, and not killing.
The true Church RESPECTS all people, but because she LOVES them too, she does not ACCEPT their sin as part of their identity. This is the view of the Orthodox Church.
Perhaps in addition we should pray that God will help them find an identity for themselves in Christ, rather than claiming sexuality as their identity, which the world is certainly encouraging all of us to do.
When it is an individual or a large group of people asking for a blessing, you give a blessing, but when it is a couple, then that's something. hahaha. Hypocrisy. A blessing is for all - sinners and saints.
The question is not if this contradicts the "traditional" Christian teachings but if it contradicts the Word of Jesus. It is unfortunately a small opening of the gate that can be used to allow the rest of the darkness to deceive the more weak in the spirit and at the end compromise larger numbers of weak Christians.

This is exactly the same thing that happened in the Protestant churches back in the 90s. I remember in the Episcopal church they were always saying that blessing is not marriage and so forth. What it was in reality was a crack where certain groups could start driving a wedge to open the crack and gain more things.

I lived a sinful alternate life style until about 20 years ago. Then I came back to the church. My sinful behavior was not encouraged by the church thanks be to God. I lived that life and I feel so bad for this decision. How can we bless sin? And couples living together outside of marriage? With children? Where does this end? I'm 62. I am a same sex attracted woman (SSA). I have lived this lifestyle decades ago as my protest against God. Then I found the Eucharist and became Catholic. I immediately knew that I could not continue with the homosexual lifestyle. I chose Christ. Then a Catholic priest abused me spiritually and sexually for many years. Now I am finally free. I have forgiven him, this has set me free. I am still SSA. Now I live a chaste and celibate life. My German Catholic church had no official blessing for me, so the Protestant church gave me a blessing. This blessing had a deep impact on my life. Now I love Christ more than ever before. He is my love and my life. This is true freedom and true blessing.

Thank you Metropolitan, While living in Greece for 13 years, I became Orthodox from Roman Catholic. The Pope, recent declaration will cause a smooth and complete apostasy of many lukewarm in that Church especially those who embrace the Western humanistic secular culture. This pope makes Christ power to change a sinner into a possible saint, null and void, but Christ did ask, “When I return, do you think I will find faith on the earth?”
I was born and raised Catholic and later went on God guided journey through many other evangelical churches. In the recent years I was seeking intensively God's will if I should join the Catholic Church again, and the recent Pope's decission is for me a big red light! I am also originally Polish and always had a big respect and admiration for the Russian people and their Orthodox Church and as the recent past shows they not stayed faithful as they always were but even got stronger at least in Russia.
You should be ashamed of yourself. Right now, our Mother Church is on the way of the Cross. She is at Golgotha. Would you abandon your mother when she is about to be crucified? Shame on you! Go to confession, repent, beg our Lord and the Blessed Virgin Mary for forgiveness and pray for the Church. You are a part of the Church Militant as long as you live, and it's your obligation to pray for all its members, clergy especially. Your parents, by their authority, chose for you to be a member of the Mystical Body of Christ. Treasure it!

I am protestant but even I understand that the bishopric of Rome has gone down to the Apostle Peter. So far nobody has rung the prophetic alarm bells. If the bishop of Rome becomes an apostate, this has serious prophetic import and anyone who actually believes in scripture should be very concerned. We Prots believe the same thing , Pastors should marry if they are called to , as Peter and others in the bible all did! This prevents are respective groups from falling into trouble with the scandals.

Thank goodness many Bishops conferences have given this mad pope of ours a flat NO. They have rejected this evil document.
On another note our orthodox brothers must deal with the huge wound of divorce and remarriage within the orthodox church . You need to return to the proper traditional practice of no divorce as our Lord insisted.

Catholic priests are more involved in same sex relations, orthodox priests get married so they are not involved, they are protected. All priests should encourage Love for God, and hate for sin. Sin keeps us away from God. Go and sin no more.
The non-liturgical “blessing” cannot take place in Church nor can it give the appearance of a marriage. However, any blessing of a “couple” involved in sinful sexual activity is impermissible as the Vatican stated clearly in 2021. Gay persons who are living celibate, chaste lives with all its struggles can certainly receive a blessing INDIVIDUALLY to encourage them in their discipleship and to call down the Lord’s merciful grace upon them. But members of the same sex who are sexually attracted to each other cohabitating while sexually active is against Catholic moral doctrine and that relationship cannot be blessed. Period.
What is not talked about more but should be is not just the blessing of ss couples themselves but the malevolent and apparent satanic subversion being done by the Vatican. It is beyond obvious they do not literally, word for word, believe in scripture and tradition. The blessing is supposed to be for help amending one's life and repentance, but 2 men that are public about their homosexuality and are *legally* *married* to each other, that demonstrates the complete opposite of repentance. It was sexual love, and I pull that word, 'love', from my heart, for at least 25 of those years, but it is now the blessed harmony of understanding, sharing and support, without the lust which was important when it was there. But we have only come to this serenity through that combination of desire and love. And we have more than I witness in the cases of many heterosexual couples, whose only experience of Christianity is a wedding in a Church, the party afterwards and, frequently, the divorce. In many cases, there is never a 'marriage'.
My partner and I are Civil Partners. That is our marriage. It is a legal and emotional bond. I am totally against same-sex marriage within any Christian Church, but there is much obfuscation here.

Even the words of God are ambiguous if we don't interpret in the spirit of the truth. As pope clearly has said, sin cannot be blessed.
This gives the priest the opportunity to proclaim the teaching of the church in the blessing itself. There will always be disobedience to the pope. The sin of disobedience is even more dangerous. We have to actually listen to what the pope is actually saying. There is no blessing of homosexual union and never will be.

I am glad that people like you are airing these important issues that are misleading and not truthful to the old doctrines of the Church. The laity are the church and need to speak up and call out the wrong doings of the doctrines being altered to be seen as accommodating to same sex attraction so not to marginalise such people. Where are the Cardinals Bishops and Priests who are in the higher ranks to speak out and share their opinions and objections and to make it known to their congregations to vote and give their voice to the contradictions from the Vatican.
Not to mention the corruptions within the Vatican its' self. What about the priest who abuse and keep on practicing with no consequences taken to their actions of abuse.

Has a protestant who became a Pentecostal I am studying orthodoxy. I went to an assembly of God Bible school. I have a bad biblical studies degree. Most protestants would be emphatically against Blessing 😍 same-sex unions even on the way as it’s described by what the Pope said but this issue is like you said affecting everybody You mentioned the Methodist from what I have been reading. This issue was splitting the Methodist Church right down the middle. In fact millions of people have left the United Methodist Church over this issue and have started their own new Methodist denomination. I fear for the Catholic Church and what they have done with this issue, the pope needs our prayers, and so do all the priest that are struggling with this what we need to do though is treat, same-sex couples with compassion and concern, and not judging Christ did not judge the woman caught in the act of adultery. We love people but hate sin. We Orthodox accept everybody as they are, but aproving the sin?
Why at first place anyone lets say gay person condition him self to become a member of the Church by his sexual orientation? Everybody who seek salvation in Christ should follow Him. Holy Orthodox Baptism is the start of the journey. Homosexuality is treatable. Even if you cure or not... The thing is to struggle and get rid of the passions one by one... Not to self jystify, but to be aware about the sinfulness... And doing better as time goes.
As St. Seraphim of Sarov said thst the purpose of the Cheistisn life is liberation from passions by releasing and calming and receiving the Holy Spirit. That is the way of becoming holy. We ard all called to holiness. Any passion takes us away from that ultimate goal. Including sex.

This indeed has a bigger impact to the masses in general than just gay couples. Im not even christian but, what this move tells me is that, catholic faith stands for nothing. Satan is using the basest passions of man to try to tear the church apart and he will cause much damage. Under the banner of love, tolerance, and acceptance, people are willing to abandon God's Word. Parts of the document are sound, but adding the word "couples" opened the Pandora's Box. There is nothing "beautiful" , "noble" or "pure" in these relationships, since they are sinful, and thus separate these individuals from God. The only noble thing they could do for each other would be to separate !

Im not understanding why critics are so opposed to the document, it literally is telling priests its ok to give a short blessing to people even if they are involved in irregular relationships. It is very clear that the relationship itself is not to be blessed nor encouraged. Its telling clergy basically to not turn people away, instead do a quick prayer for them, in an individual manner.
I think even using the label “gay” is solidifying it. If I’m an alcoholic, would you call me an alcoholic brother or sister? Would you call me by my sin ? No. I hope bot. Agree. There is a biology to sin. There is a medical diagnosis for nearly every sin imaginable (or was). There are drivers and inclinations that lead people into different sinful pathways. Some are instilled through societal norms and indoctrination (taught), others are desires and sin that come more naturally to us that we must struggle, reject, and overcome. To blanket yourself in your sin with pride and justification is loving that sin above God. To encourage and praise someone in their sinfulness is not love at all, in fact the most hateful thing imaginable. To label yourself with a sin accompanied by "Christian" is an anathema. To openly admitting to struggling with a sin is something entirely different. They're wanting their sinfulness acknowledged and even celebrated, or in this case blessed.
