- On Dec.18, 2023, the Vatican Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith released a Declaration entitled “Fiducia Supplicans”, with the approval of Pope Francis. The new Declaration discusses “the possibility of blessing couples in irregular situations and same-sex couples.”
In his conversation with Rod Dreher, Metropolitian Hilarion of Budapest and Hungary shares his thoughts on the recent developments in the Roman Catholic Church.

This is exactly the same thing that happened in the Protestant churches back in the 90s. I remember in the Episcopal church they were always saying that blessing is not marriage and so forth. What it was in reality was a crack where certain groups could start driving a wedge to open the crack and gain more things.

As a Catholic, I disapprove of Pope Frances and am extremely disappointed in this Pope. I pray for the church, the head of the church is Jesus Christ and this Pope is a huge disappointment and I did not like him from day 1. Praying for the traditional priests.

The document says directly, "Within the horizon outlined here appears the possibility of blessings for couples in irregular situations and for couples of the same sex.." What do you think "couples of the same sex" means?
What is a couple? A couple is a pairing of one man and one woman. Two persons OF THE SAME SEX cannot be a couple, so just on this point alone the document is shown to be a lie. It uses woke language (in another place it mentions 'inclusion' as some sort of virtue that God sends down a blessing for). It's a sick, sick joke. It is pure evil, straight from the mouth of the devil.
Weaponized ambiguity from the Vatican. If the pope wanted to clarify any "confusion", he could publicly say this document doesn't imply blessing sinful relationships, and furthermore redact the one poisonous line regarding blessing "same sex couples"....

I’ve read and studied the entire document. My question is that “couples in irregular situations” is not defined. Could pedophilic couples, incestuous couples, polyamorous couples and others be included in these blessings? Pope Francis’s writers have not defined what is the irregular situation. I’m a convert and was heart broken with the reality of pedophile priests who preyed on the innocent young seminarians, not just children, and am truly heart broken over this. It will just empower the LGBTQ to become more active with “Pride” and justification for their lifestyles.

Your initial assessment is spot on. The Pope has given fuel to the activist groups to target priests who don't bless gay couples. Even though the blessing holds little weight according to Catholic traditions, it will still be used to hammer on the Priests. This is all a Pandora's box that shouldn't have been opened up. And in the United States, imagine the court cases that will be started over this - just horrific.
Don't be silly. Nobody can go to a court to complain a religion is not accommodating them. Religion is an OPTION and you do not need to be Einstein to understand that. People just want to murmur. Don't do that yourself.
@@deniseb4426 It is classified under discrimination against protected groups both under Canadian and United States constitutions. They were already challenged in the United States where the gay couple wanted the baker to bake them a wedding cake which the bakery refused. This will be heavily litigated and challenged in both the US and Canada. You cannot discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation, and when a priest declines to give a blessing over a gay couple - that is the spark for legal cases. Before it was a case where it was the Catholic's stance that they would not bless gay couples. However, now that the door has been opened...

I was born and raised Catholic and later went on God guided journey through many other evangelical churches. In the recent years I was seeking intensively God's will if I should join the Catholic Church again, and the recent Pope's decission is for me a big red light! I am also originally Polish and always had a big respect and admiration for the Russian people and their Orthodox Church and as the recent past shows they not stayed faithful as they always were but even got stronger at least in Russia.
You should be ashamed of yourself. Right now, our Mother Church is on the way of the Cross. She is at Golgotha. Would you abandon your mother when she is about to be crucified? Shame on you! Go to confession, repent, beg our Lord and the Blessed Virgin Mary for forgiveness and pray for the Church. You are a part of the Church Militant as long as you live, and it's your obligation to pray for all its members, clergy especially. Your parents, by their authority, chose for you to be a member of the Mystical Body of Christ. Treasure it!

My family has been Roman Catholic since literally the Romans... but this shocking document from the pope is making me strongly consider the Orthodox church. God will NOT bless sin.

The Church has had much worse Popes than Francis over the course of its history. No one can destroy the Catholic Church. No matter how much damage Francis' causes, he is not immortal. He will die and there will be another Pope who will bring things back to orthodoxy - just as what has happened many, many times in history. Abandoning the one true Church that Jesus himself founded simply because of a bad Pope is just plain cowardice. If your faith in the concrete doctrines of the Catholic church is solid, then you should rather die than become a schismatic and abandon it at the slightest glimpse of turmoil.
Thank you Metropolitan, While living in Greece for 13 years, I became Orthodox from Roman Catholic. The Pope, recent declaration will cause a smooth and complete apostasy of many lukewarm in that Church especially those who embrace the Western humanistic secular culture. This pope makes Christ power to change a sinner into a possible saint, null and void, but Christ did ask, “When I return, do you think I will find faith on the earth?”
I am a same sex attracted woman (SSA). I have lived this lifestyle decades ago as my protest against God. Then I found the Eucharist and became Catholic. I immediately knew that I could not continue with the homosexual lifestyle. I chose Christ. Then a Catholic priest abused me spiritually and sexually for many years. Now I am finally free. I have forgiven him, this has set me free. I am still SSA. Now I live a chaste and celibate life. I was a member of the Roman Catholic Church for 60 years. RC teachings were changing so quickly, many seemingly to contradict previous teachings. For the last 20 of those years i was looking for the true Catholic Church. I began attending the Tridentine Mass thinking it was the authentic Catholic liturgy. Only to find out that it just dated back to the 16th Century. Frustrated and disillusioned I slowly drifted away to the point i was studying to become a Druid. 6 years ago I befriended an Orthodox woman. She invited me to attend Liturgy at her church. It was an hierarchical Liturgy where Bishop Nikon, of blessed memory, presided. The feast of St. Nectarios. My spirit was revived. I began to study and was Chrismated the next year. I believe that bestowing these blessings is just the next step to allowing same-sex marriage performed by the RC Church. I was taught that the Pope was the ultimate authority and we had to abide my his proclamations. The RC Church has been dying slowly for decades. Frank is driving the final nail into its coffin.

I am protestant but even I understand that the bishopric of Rome has gone down to the Apostle Peter. So far nobody has rung the prophetic alarm bells. If the bishop of Rome becomes an apostate, this has serious prophetic import and anyone who actually believes in scripture should be very concerned. We might be witnessing the literal manifestations of the great apostasy as spoken of in scripture. This is disturbing to say the least. I am not trying to be an alarmist but frankly in this case I do not think it can be overstated how bad this is for the church and the fallen world. Do not panic, but watch and be frosty. Yes, there are so many ways to do this. This can be suggested in an appropriate and moral manner. We bless the Sinner but not the sins.
The reception of Catholics into the orthodox church will depend on the people in the seats, pews standing up, welcoming them, showing them the service book, maybe standing next to them, or sitting next to them, helping them through the liturgy. But welcoming them is most important .
Of course but also beware. Many Roman Catholics adhere to their Church as if it was a political party, for reasons of power and pride. It's not compatible with the orthodox ways and we are often blind to the great differences between orthodox and Rome concerning the essence of the Church.

The non-liturgical “blessing” cannot take place in Church nor can it give the appearance of a marriage. However, any blessing of a “couple” involved in sinful sexual activity is impermissible as the Vatican stated clearly in 2021. Gay persons who are living celibate, chaste lives with all its struggles can certainly receive a blessing INDIVIDUALLY to encourage them in their discipleship and to call down the Lord’s merciful grace upon them. But members of the same sex who are sexually attracted to each other cohabitating while sexually active is against Catholic moral doctrine and that relationship cannot be blessed. Period.
What is not talked about more but should be is not just the blessing of ss couples themselves but the malevolent and apparent satanic subversion being done by the Vatican. It is beyond obvious they do not literally, word for word, believe in scripture and tradition. I fear quite a few are agnostics and based on a small bit of evidence from victim testimonials some are legit luciferians.

The blessing is supposed to be for help amending one's life and repentance, but 2 men that are public about their homosexuality and are *legally* *married* to each other, that demonstrates the complete opposite of repentance. Very interesting remarks by the Orthodox Priest in regards to treating every person kindly, regardless his orientation, including a blessing as an individual person. The main purpose in any case is that God loves each person and wants all of us to convert to do His Will. This may take time, but we should not lose hope, since we are all sinners, let's face it.

Agree. There is a biology to sin. There is a medical diagnosis for nearly every sin imaginable (or was). There are drivers and inclinations that lead people into different sinful pathways. Some are instilled through societal norms and indoctrination (taught), others are desires and sin that come more naturally to us that we must struggle, reject, and overcome. To blanket yourself in your sin with pride and justification is loving that sin above God. To encourage and praise someone in their sinfulness is not love at all, in fact the most hateful thing imaginable. To label yourself with a sin accompanied by "Christian" is an anathema. To openly admitting to struggling with a sin is something entirely different. They're wanting their sinfulness acknowledged and even celebrated, or in this case blessed.

This gives the priest the opportunity to proclaim the teaching of the church in the blessing itself. There will always be disobedience to the pope. The sin of disobedience is even more dangerous. We have to actually listen to what the pope is actually saying. There is no blessing of homosexual union and never will be.

I have been following Metropolitan for a while. He has said very interesting things in Russian of course while I do not believe is in English. I wish I could translate. I think the world should hear his opinions. He made a very interesting video series on Dostoevsky and Christianity.
This is just a way to skirt around doctrine, the Roman Catholic Church is bending the knee to social media pressures. They’re more interested in getting people to like them and to be popular and trendy. Without doctrine, what is the basis of our faith.
This indeed has a bigger impact to the masses in general than just gay couples. Im not even christian but, what this move tells me is that, catholic faith stands for nothing. Has a protestant who became a Pentecostal I am studying orthodoxy. I went to an assembly of God Bible school. I have a bad biblical studies degree. Most protestants would be emphatically against Blessing 😍 same-sex unions even on the way as it’s described by what the Pope said but this issue is like you said affecting everybody You mentioned the Methodist from what I have been reading. This issue was splitting the Methodist Church right down the middle. In fact millions of people have left the United Methodist Church over this issue and have started their own new Methodist denomination. I fear for the Catholic Church and what they have done with this issue, the pope needs our prayers, and so do all the priest that are struggling with this what we need to do though is treat, same-sex couples with compassion and concern, and not judging Christ did not judge the woman caught in the act of adultery. Parts of the document are sound, but adding the word "couples" opened the Pandora's Box. There is nothing "beautiful" , "noble" or "pure" in these relationships, since they are sinful, and thus separate these individuals from God.
