Then I have taken a little necklace which has a prayer and soil from St. Gabriel's grave. When I got back to my home country, I have learned about his holy life. I think it's really sad that communism has to be atheistic and materialistic. The idea of equality, helping the poor and spreading resources, and caring for your fellow man is literally Christian social teaching. This is why as a kid in Catholic school learning about communism for the first time, I was so confused as to why everyone seems against it. "This is literally the solution to the world's problems, it should be put into place everywhere. How can this be BAD, this is literally what we've been learning about in school all these years?" It's the fierce atheism, the lack of respect for human life. If not for that, and there are many Christians who claim the religion can only be right-wing, which is false, it could couple very well with Christianity and could produce the perfect state on earth.

I have tears. This sounds so familiar to what Christians did go through in my country Albania. The Catholic and Orthodox clergy was decimated, tortured in the most inhumane ways, then killed. All churches were destroyed. I did hear the elders say that people were even afraid of thinking of God, fearing the communists would hear their thoughts, and incarcerate them. God bless those Christians who suffered for the love of Christ.
I am a inquirer in the Orthodox Church. I have a longing to join the true Church. Saint Gabriel will be my patron Saint. I am so moved by his story- it makes me cry every time I hear it. I just broke out into tears from the 1st minute and repeatedly sobbed until the end and found great consolation on a rough day in feeling the sincerity and the genuineness of this remarkable saint just from the look of his eyes. I'll have you know, there are other saints out there, like me. Praise God, this life isn't easy, but our light does have an effect. We cry because we love so hard, and understand the loss of the unsaved. We think so differently that we have no place in humanity, being reborn a new creature in Christ. A saint is a real Christian. We're only as much of Jesus Christ as we can be, and we pray constantly to be more, as it's never enough. We search for love, deep real authentic love... I haven't found true love in life yet, except by me... and of course YHWH and Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, to which is the love i search for. It's heartbreaking. Please pray for us saints, most of us get murdered. Become a zealot, because you can't take God too seriously, and you might become a saint as well. You'll only know when God and scripture say so.

@@whtstr2133 I believe in the love of God manifested in the true virtue of Mother Mary whom even the greatest saints like joseph the hesychast and nektarios of aegina call mother of all the saints, gate of salvation, holy arc and tree of life (like in the "agni parthene" and "akathist to the theotokos") and highest above even the heavenly hosts second only to the holy trinity. Like Christ she is alive together with all her saints this channel talks about. The ineffable love of her expresses her great heart by letting jesus be born and taken from her in all our struggles as sinners all over again since christ is in all of us. Like written in isaiah she became mother of all the faithful and suffers together with christ because of her total love for him until the day of judgement. God is he alone but the miracle of her love gives us all a glimpse into paradise even though incomprehensible. So I sincerely invite you to prayerfully let her arise in your heart like when she ascended to heaven on her assumption and may Christ let you feel her highest love for him as well. I am an American, also of a Catholic background, and have been drawn towards Orthodoxy for the past few years now. I just rediscovered this love for this faith and how it fills in all the holes from Catholic school. Pray for all of us, may Christ bring us unto Himself.
You should also check out Eastern saints in the Catholic Church (we also have 23 Eastern Rites). My conversion was in part thanks to St. Charbel and then the Virgin Mary, Morther of God. St. Charbel is a Lebanese Catholic-Maronite saint. He was also a hermit and his life story is very beautiful too. St. Gabriel reminded me of St. Charbel a lot. You should also check out the miracle of Dafne Gutierrez in Arizona through the intercession of St. Charbel. I love our Orthodox brothers and sisters, and we have a lot of saints in common before the schism (also the Fathers of the Church, etc.). I hope one day the Orthodox and Catholic churches may be reunited.
@@Awakeningspirit20 unfortunately, since protestantism in so prevalent in English speaking countries, it is very hard to find good Catholic resources in English which might be why there are so many holes from your perspective. I know this because I speak three languages and I come from countries with Catholic rather than protestant roots and I often can't find the same quality resources in English to share with my American friends. However, please be aware that the Catholic Church has both Roman and Eastern rites, in fact, there are about 23 Eastern rites, which include the Byzantine, Maronite, etc. If you enjoy ascetism, mysticism, etc., I suggest checking out St. Charbel, a Catholic Maronite. Check out Dafne Gutierrez miracle through St. Charbel's intercession, and I think the movie about his life is avaible for free in English on UA-cam. Also, the Cristeros in Mexico were martyrs that fought against communism (they were killed and persecuted), Pope Pio XII condemned communism too, and it is well-known that communists not only attacked the Orthodox and Catholic churches in the countries they conquered, but also infiltrated the Catholic Church by enlisting atheists and other non-believers in seminaries to destroy the Church from within, since most Western countries did not fall under communism. We are still fighting against the errors of communism (remember Fatima?) and its infiltration.

I feel drawn to write you. This video was a complete surprise to me as Iam of Mennonite heritage,a Christian. My grandparents were born in Tiege, Ukraine as were my parents. It was across the River from Dnieperozne now is,near the atomic power plant. They suffered terribly under Stalin and especially because they were originally from Prussia,(northern Germany and Poland) They had beautiful little villages in the Chortitza colony as well as a larger one a bit south called Molotschna colony. We have many books about this Godly heritage but when the communists came everything was destroyed and thousands killed. My family was able to escape with about 20 thousand of their Brethern by the Grace of God to Canada. However many people were sent to Siberia and my great grandfathers who were ministers in the church were starved to death in prisons. Our family has worked hard as farmers in Canada and I thank God often that I live in freedom. Iam 75 years old and believe the Lord is coming very soon. How glorious it will be to meet Orthodox Christians who suffered so much,and in ways that puzzle me, and together we will worship God. I had no idea that people were still suffering so much in my life time,although I have heard about Chinese Christians and those that ISIS crucified. I’m also praying for Israel now. Some things I will never understand here on this earth. Blessings to you wherever you live.
Growing up it seemed the Soviet Union was here to stay- but how great is our God . We will visit Georgia ( God willing ) from Australia in July and hope to visit St Gabriel . I wish to share with you saint Gabriel’s grace. After watching this, I saw that image of him with his bold kind eyes, it was like he was staring through to my soul and I started to cry uncontrollably. So I wiped my tears with a tissue cloth and turned off my phone but very very faintly I could hear beautiful chanting of a choir in another language which resembled Georgian. It was so faint and so beautiful I closed my eyes to hear it more and thought maybe it’s coming from outside and went to check but it wasn’t. I knew it was from God. When I picked up the tissue that I used to wipe my tears it had such a powerful and beautiful aroma. In my doubt, I thought maybe the tissue came this way so I picked up a clean one from the same box but none of them smelled this way. Dearest saint Gabriel pray for us sinners! Gods Glory forever!

It is amazing. In the few instances of photographs and videos we have of saints, their eyes contain both a sense of lostness and foundness simultaneously, thus fulfilling the words of Christ - "He who wishes to save his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for My sake will find it."

The story of the the man in the bar and being saved by the actions and intercessions of St Gabriel really moved me. The story telling and narration of this event was excellent! I was baptized in Sameba Cathedral Tbilisi and had travelled to Samtavro Monastery. Back in then I did not know much about St. Gabriel. Then I have taken a little necklace which has a prayer and soil from St. Gabriel's grave. When I got back to my home country, I have learned about his holy life. I think it's really sad that communism has to be atheistic and materialistic. The idea of equality, helping the poor and spreading resources, and caring for your fellow man is literally Christian social teaching. This is why as a kid in Catholic school learning about communism for the first time, I was so confused as to why everyone seems against it. "This is literally the solution to the world's problems, it should be put into place everywhere. How can this be BAD, this is literally what we've been learning about in school all these years?" It's the fierce atheism, the lack of respect for human life. If not for that, and there are many Christians who claim the religion can only be right-wing, which is false, it could couple very well with Christianity and could produce the perfect state on earth.

I have tears. This sounds so familiar to what Christians did go through in my country Albania. The Catholic and Orthodox clergy was decimated, tortured in the most inhumane ways, then killed. All churches were destroyed. I did hear the elders say that people were even afraid of thinking of God, fearing the communists would hear their thoughts, and incarcerate them. God bless those Christians who suffered for the love of Christ.

I'll have you know, there are other saints out there, like me. Praise God, this life isn't easy, but our light does have an effect. We cry because we love so hard, and understand the loss of the unsaved. We think so differently that we have no place in humanity, being reborn a new creature in Christ.
A saint is a real Christian. We're only as much of Jesus Christ as we can be, and we pray constantly to be more, as it's never enough. We search for love, deep real authentic love... I haven't found true love in life yet, except by me... and of course YHWH and Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, to which is the love i search for. It's heartbreaking.
Please pray for us saints, most of us get murdered. Become a zealot, because you can't take God too seriously, and you might become a saint as well. You'll only know when God and scripture say so.

@@whtstr2133 I believe in the love of God manifested in the true virtue of Mother Mary whom even the greatest saints like joseph the hesychast and nektarios of aegina call mother of all the saints, gate of salvation, holy arc and tree of life (like in the "agni parthene" and "akathist to the theotokos") and highest above even the heavenly hosts second only to the holy trinity. Like Christ she is alive together with all her saints this channel talks about. The ineffable love of her expresses her great heart by letting jesus be born and taken from her in all our struggles as sinners all over again since christ is in all of us. Like written in isaiah she became mother of all the faithful and suffers together with christ because of her total love for him until the day of judgement. God is he alone but the miracle of her love gives us all a glimpse into paradise even though incomprehensible. So I sincerely invite you to prayerfully let her arise in your heart like when she ascended to heaven on her assumption and may Christ let you feel her highest love for him as well. She has been my comforter for many years and her love is a god given fountain of peace and consolation. I see it as a simple hierarchy:
YHWY the creator of all things. All Father, if you want. This name represents a "Name" in Word "I Was, I Am, I Will Be", who's real pronunciation would destroy us all. Omni/Infinite in all His ways.
Jesus Christ, the Son of God and the Lord and Savior of mankind. The perfect example of Love, the perfect example of Truth, and the perfect Life lead to be the perfect sacrifice of our sins, and the Only One that is Worthy of inheriting The Scroll of Lifetime. The True Son Of The Most High. (with all the respect and honor that accompanies the title)
The Holy Spirit. The voice EVERYONE hears at first when they do Wrong in the eyes of God.(Him being included). Not the guilty, which is written on the heart, but the Helper, the One who honestly warns you, never lies to you, always has the obvious truth, and has information you don't. Listen and obey, and He'll never lead you astray.
Man...humans. The most incredible creation God put forth, nearly destroyed by the acts of Evil. An infected perfection perverted in an attempt to attack the Creator.
The Bible. The perfect and true guidebook of "How to be a Human Being successfully". All in it is refined by God Himself when inspired by God Himself and never changes. It just doesn't. It is Only a representative of The Word, that which is spoken by God.
I love, I'm honest, and I understand
Because I was made that way.
I didn't have a choice.
What that is is up to you to decide, if that's what you believe. It Isn't about what I believe, that's for sure.
Each must find their own path, but there's only one way to get to Heaven. It's God's Attributes, given by the Most High, through the acts of Jesus Christ, reenforced by the Holy Spirit upon the Creation of God, Mankind, brought upon by the Word of God, represented by the Holy Scripture, preserved by God.
But that's just what I believe, and therefore subject to scrutiny, as I am not perfect, but infected perfection being cured.
Hehe, love you... honestly, just like God intended. I hope you understand, how well I mean you. It is a rather lonely existence, to be honest.
We Christians of the West who have had little awareness of the Orthodox church need to more aware of that Great Tradition and ofits Saints. I could not wait to order a book on his Saintly life. Thank you, and God bless us all.
Being raised Catholic in the west, I did not return to the Christian faith until I began to read some of the Orthodox teachings. The Philokalia has been a great source of joy and peace for me ❤☦

I loved every second of this beautiful testimony. Today, we Catholic have commemorated the death of our Lord Jesus, the Christ, the Son of God, the only Redeemer.
I have just discovered Saint Gabriel; his life reminds me of the life of so many Saints revered by the Catholic Church that there is no doubt the Orthodox Churches and the Catholic Church are under God and shall be reunited by Him in his perfect time.

As an Indian, living in Georgia, Batumi, Mama Gabriel is the first Orthodox Saint I heard about, absolutely unknown about him as I am from Catholic background . I prayed for his intercession about my need and indeed after my first prayer to him I felt a warm connection with him and today his icon holds a special place at my altar.. ❤️ Hope his intercessions will work and my prayers will be answered... You should also check out Eastern saints in the Catholic Church (we also have 23 Eastern Rites). My conversion was in part thanks to St. Charbel and then the Virgin Mary, Morther of God. St. Charbel is a Lebanese Catholic-Maronite saint. He was also a hermit and his life story is very beautiful too. St. Gabriel reminded me of St. Charbel a lot. You should also check out the miracle of Dafne Gutierrez in Arizona through the intercession of St. Charbel. I love our Orthodox brothers and sisters, and we have a lot of saints in common before the schism (also the Fathers of the Church, etc.). I hope one day the Orthodox and Catholic churches may be reunited.
@@Awakeningspirit20 unfortunately, since protestantism in so prevalent in English speaking countries, it is very hard to find good Catholic resources in English which might be why there are so many holes from your perspective. I know this because I speak three languages and I come from countries with Catholic rather than protestant roots and I often can't find the same quality resources in English to share with my American friends. However, please be aware that the Catholic Church has both Roman and Eastern rites, in fact, there are about 23 Eastern rites, which include the Byzantine, Maronite, etc.
If you enjoy ascetism, mysticism, etc., I suggest checking out St. Charbel, a Catholic Maronite. Check out Dafne Gutierrez miracle through St. Charbel's intercession, and I think the movie about his life is avaible for free in English on UA-cam.
Also, the Cristeros in Mexico were martyrs that fought against communism (they were killed and persecuted), Pope Pio XII condemned communism too, and it is well-known that communists not only attacked the Orthodox and Catholic churches in the countries they conquered, but also infiltrated the Catholic Church by enlisting atheists and other non-believers in seminaries to destroy the Church from within, since most Western countries did not fall under communism. We are still fighting against the errors of communism (remember Fatima?) and its infiltration.

I feel drawn to write you. This video was a complete surprise to me as Iam of Mennonite heritage,a Christian. My grandparents were born in Tiege, Ukraine as were my parents. It was across the River from Dnieperozne now is,near the atomic power plant. They suffered terribly under Stalin and especially because they were originally from Prussia,(northern Germany and Poland) They had beautiful little villages in the Chortitza colony as well as a larger one a bit south called Molotschna colony. We have many books about this Godly heritage but when the communists came everything was destroyed and thousands killed. My family was able to escape with about 20 thousand of their Brethern by the Grace of God to Canada. However many people were sent to Siberia and my great grandfathers who were ministers in the church were starved to death in prisons.
Our family has worked hard as farmers in Canada and I thank God often that I live in freedom. Iam 75 years old and believe the Lord is coming very soon. How glorious it will be to meet Orthodox Christians who suffered so much,and in ways that puzzle me, and together we will worship God. I had no idea that people were still suffering so much in my life time,although I have heard about Chinese Christians and those that ISIS crucified. I’m also praying for Israel now. Some things I will never understand here on this earth.

I wish to share with you saint Gabriel’s grace. After watching this, I saw that image of him with his bold kind eyes, it was like he was staring through to my soul and I started to cry uncontrollably. So I wiped my tears with a tissue cloth and turned off my phone but very very faintly I could hear beautiful chanting of a choir in another language which resembled Georgian. It was so faint and so beautiful I closed my eyes to hear it more and thought maybe it’s coming from outside and went to check but it wasn’t. I knew it was from God. When I picked up the tissue that I used to wipe my tears it had such a powerful and beautiful aroma. In my doubt, I thought maybe the tissue came this way so I picked up a clean one from the same box but none of them smelled this way. Dearest saint Gabriel pray for us sinners! Gods Glory forever!

Somehow I've been waiting to learn more about this saint for quite a while, since I first saw his picture. All I knew from seeing his picture was that he is a great saint. Thank you as always for the wonderfully made documentaries!

It is amazing. In the few instances of photographs and videos we have of saints, their eyes contain both a sense of lostness and foundness simultaneously, thus fulfilling the words of Christ - "He who wishes to save his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for My sake will find it."

Today is Good Friday 2023. I came across this film and watched it all the way through. I was shocked at the destruction of the monasteries and the holy relics. It has inspired me. Blessings on Saint Gabriel and on the people of Georgia.

I knew roman Catholic saints from childhood and even adored them... I just watched this video and realized that if there's any saint apart from who we have here in the Philippines (St. Lorenzo Ruiz)... I'd like to ask St. Gabriel to pray for me. It's weird for a protestant to say this but I believe what if, given the chances... right. After all, these saints are way beyond righteous than any of us. Great Video! I'm in my conquest and in studying orthodox history and practices these days (hoping that I'd be home here). May God bless every person that is redeemed by His blood!
