    Bespin was my favorite figure as a kid. His head broke off and I tried and tried to glue it back on but my parents sneakily threw him away one day! Scarred for life! It was like losing a hand!
    A hand you can’t hold a saber with even if Vader doesn’t cut it off! I’ve missed him for decades!
    Punish me with reunion!

    I feel your pain brother. Bespin Luke's lightsaber and and grips for ALL the Kenner SW toys was a half handed job, so to speak. Love the fact your customs have the square inside hand so they can hold the weapon in either hand. Well done. No need to include me in your give away as I already have this Bespin Luke. Keep up the great work.

    Bespin Fatigues Luke was one of my Fav figures as a kid!! I don’t recall having a problem with the lightsaber, but maybe I just twisted it like you did.

    I’m a gen 1 Star Wars fan, born in 1975 and having seen every Star Wars release in the theatre. Star Wars shaped my life, and I can’t think of a better home for Luke. I’m going to say it’s likely you gave this away already, but if you didn’t, I’d be honored and very pleased to have this figure with its accessories again. Also, not the classiest fix, but I think a little sewing thread wrap with a bit of glue might fix that saber handle. For something less permanent a small piece of scotch tape wrapping the hilt might also get it done.

    Everyone of us original vintage Star Wars Kenner collectors loves Luke Bespin!!! To think, when the first wave of the Next 17 came out & was offered, I questioned its legitimacy. I reasoned, if the fans strike back could take peoples hard earned money & left them figureless, why would Graham’s company be any different? I was wrong & the Next 17 are an amazing & well trusted source for Kenner’s continuation of the toy line…

      This best bespin Luke figure is a great figure. I think it is worthy of a top 10 list. It is definitely one of the better Star Wars figures out there. I am not saying it is one of the most detailed but playtime. It would serve a great purpose anyways keep up the great work.

    A major fail was giving the original farm boy Luke a yellow light saber then perpetuating this mistake for this ESB Luke figure. They called this figure Luke Skywalker (Bespin Fatigues), where the word Fatigues isn't a noun but a verb, literally meaning to weaken or fail. If only someone could alleviate this situation by providing Bespin Luke with a blue light saber that he can actually grip properly.

    Awesome video as always Graham! I agree with all the issues bring up, but the glaring one that irritated me as a kid was the Boushh thermal detonator. As I became an adult collector, I remember thinking to myself that they simply could have molded one INTO the left cupped hand. TOTAL missed opportunity. I'm glad you rectified this! Keep the videos coming, my friend! I don't think I should be "punished" with the acquisition of a Bespin Luke as I have already been "cursed" with the mint one already in my collection from years back. Make sure you punish someone so that this guy ends up in the hands of someone who, otherwise, wouldn't be able to acquire one. ;)

    Great video again! Always informative and very entertaining. I think Boushh would be my #1 Kenner Fail, even with the cool helmet. Totally agree the the lack of a thermal detonator was a huge miss by Kenner. They could have also made some chains so you could bring in a captive wookie for bounty from Jabba. I do remember the lightsaber for the Bespin Luke figure, but I recall it working "OK". Maybe I rotated it as you suggested. That said, your level seems much higher than mine. ;)

    Almost as bad as not being able to hold his Light Saber properly, was the fact that he had that accessory belt molded in, but no way to clip his weapons to it. The legs are all two-part molds. they could have created some small loop or something (like Hoth Han) without requiring an undercut and another tool separation. That goes double for the current Retro series!

    I use the clear sticky goo that they use to stick labels onto the lids of sliced meat packaging. Companies like Oscar Meyers. I keep the containers and use them like Tupperware. Anyway the goo sticks to things and it doesn't affect the paint. I think that sending anything in the mail these days for free is a cause for severe punishment, but the sacrifice is sufficient punishment by itself.I ship things for free sometimes. I'm bad like that. I got the Wolfman in on Saturday, and Slothman, Tuskface, Hem and Dr Evazan came Friday. Feltipern and Devil man should be on their way as well. By the way, are you going to make anymore Hermi Odles?

      @@TheNext17 I just found four vintage figures (there was another but had pink nail polish all over the face so I won’t be considering him part of the collection) in a marketplace box my Mom picked up, in two ziploc baggies which held a bunch of 3.75 inch figures. No weapons but I was so excited for the Chewbacca. I thought I had his weapon but then upon looking at it it wasn’t it :/. Three other good ones too!! Big Head Han and two alien no-names really. Han’s hair is missing a lot of paint lol! And his legs are looser than the other 3. Definitely well played with! I’ll treasure them forever.

      @@justthatstarwarsgirlelise have to admit at being more than a little jealous ;) I haven't found any Kenner in the wild for more than a decade or so now. Here in the Netherlands that just doesn't happen anymore ;( There are some shops selling second hand but they are very very aware of prices ;) Is the nail polished figure perhaps willing to part with his/her questionable fashion choices if you apply some nail polish remover? As the figure is more or less lost anyway, I guess you have nothing to lose ;)

    • @justthatstarwarsgirlelise
      @justthatstarwarsgirlelise 7 місяців тому +1

      @@TheNext17 you legitimately said the exact same thing as my parents which honestly is so smart and I was afraid to try to remove the nail polish but I bet that my Mom could have a go at it and you are correct there is absolutely nothing to lose cuz if it’s with the polish I wouldn’t keep it with my nice ones. My first few figures were long before I knew much of anything about them or collecting them from an antique shop, they were really fairly priced considering every one is in great condition but most of all they included their weapons!! All the figures I’ve ever found since have not included weapons. But the second lot of figures I found was a vintage Star Wars carrying case behind the “expensive” counter of my local thrift store that they taped shut and would not allow you to open. It was $24.99 and I decided for that much I’d just buy the case cuz it was cool and it was Kenner and I thought my Dad would like it. When I got home and carefully peeled the tape off (left some residue on the case sadly) inside were figures! I got a stormtrooper, Greedo, X Wing Pilot, 2 Boba’s, Bespin Guard, Snowtrooper, Death Star Droid, R2 (the regular one), Han (Hoth edition), TIE Pilot and Luke Farmboy (Blonde Hair). And an X Wing Canopy!! I posted them on a Facebook group and some guy said the canopy’s worth 50 at least and then some guy tried sliding in my DMs offering me 10 bucks for it 😂 cuz you know I’m an (18 at the time) year old girl so obviously I wouldn’t know that it’s worth more 🤦🏼‍♀️ no accessories in the box. But that was my big haul of figures. I’ve since purchased a Slave 1 and a 12 inch Kenner Darth Vader for my Dad’s birthday using my Patreon funds because those were some of what he had when he was younger (my Grandma threw away all his vintage Star Wars when he grew up). The slave 1 is complete with Han in Carbonite, ramp etc and I even had the extra Boba to add to it to make it better, that was the 1 thing it was missing. Decals are all original, and my Dad says they’re better than his would’ve been cuz he played with his Slave 1 in the bathtub lol. The Vader equaled out the price in the fact that I got it cheaper than they normally go for, he’s complete as well no repro except the cape has two tiny holes where a mouse prolly got to it. Listing said it was stored in a bin for the past few years. Im definitely gonna have my Mom try to save our pilot friend with some nail polish remover for sure now that that’s the consensus. As an update I’m not sure if I mentioned before but the Han Solo figure is the big head version. I’m trying to do some more research on them all (I was so excited to show my Dad when he got home from work. These came in a box my Mom got from her friend she knew from high school from Marketplace, they were her son’s I believe). I use the Star Wars Tracker app (I’d have started to) to try to see the value and keep them cataloged. So far I’ve only cataloged Luke Farmboy, but I really need to catalog more, especially these, cuz it’s interesting to know their value even if I’m not selling them ever.

    Question: Does the Repro figure of Bespin Luke from Hasbo display the same problems. I do own them, but did not break them out of the bubble yet. When it comes to The Next 17 figures, I consider myself really lucky that I got my hands on all your great figures and probably 90 %-plus of your accessories. The only exception is bulky Hermi, which I missed when it was for sale for a brief period of time. Hopefully, there will be another round. I am also hoping that still non-Patreon members like me are able to place an order for wave 5. Actually, I think that you and other custom toy makers are improving on the classic vintage Kenner Star Wars figures. You gents are keeping me busy, as I do not even have original Kenner run completed yet. I always try to proceed, but then another or multiple new custom figures are getting introduced. At this time, I'd rather buy something new in the classic Kenner style while it is still available and relatively affordable. I am always excited to see what you come out with next. Currently, my most favorite The Next 17 figure is Farmboy Luke with his Boonie hat and binoculars. Love that!
