  • As soon as we got our hands on one of the new 2019 YZ250F's, we headed out to the track to spin some laps, lock in some first impressions, and see how Yamaha did. No doubt about it, we were impressed. Yamaha did their homework and designed an amazing, lighter-weight, powerful bike.

    I've been enjoying your vids for a while now, thanks for what you're doing. I've had my white 19 for a little over 2 months now and have been racing several times on it. Getting more and more comfortable on it in the choppy square edged bumps as it is a bit stiff in the mid stroke but overall this thing is great. I like having two maps available on the fly. Great review man.

    I've owned every Japanese make and when it comes to the best overall balance and quality nothing beats a new Yamaha. that's not to say that each brand doesn't have an edge in at least one area, but as far as the complete package goes I've gotta hand it to team blue.

    Quite a bit late on this but you stated it maybe improving the front end steering aspect. Was it better in that area? As a mountain bike racer, I always much more enjoyed a front end steered bike. Went and sat on a bunch of 2020 bikes and came down to feeling the most comfortable on this and the KTM. Unsure where exactly to go with it as both felt great in riding triangle but don't really know which route to turn towards as they're both super different in chassis I'm sure.

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  4 роки тому +1

      The Yamaha has a really good balanced feel. I've never had any problems with the front end giving good feedback and front end feel. The KTM is very close to this. The best cornering 250, or any four stroke, in my opinion is the CRF250R.- Chase

    • @zrkn1

      It's all about cost and weight, the day that riders stopped demanding kickstarters was the day that manufacturers were more than happy to shave cost and weight. My opinion is that all bikes that are dirt capable need E and Kick starters. It's a safety issue. At least that is what I would tell them.

      Vegas Romaniac is about your size and he loves his 2018 yz250f. Pretty much the same bike. You can also adjust rider cockpit a little bit on these. Different positions to choose from for where the bar mounts bolt to the top triple clamp. Also depends what type of riding you do and ypur riding style/experience level. Might want more power. 450f has better resale and engine lasts longer, but theyre heavy.

    • @Marvelfunfaqs
      @Marvelfunfaqs 5 років тому

      @@sciencemilitia1853 - yeah Vegas is tall but weights 20 - 30 pounds lighter then me. I was on the fence about the 450 vs 250. The 450 engine last longer? Wow didn't know that, awesome! I like how the 450 has enough power that you can detune with the app, versus getting a big bore if you get bored with the 250 power. Seems their is a 10 pound weight difference between the 2, I wonder how that really translates to the track/trails?

    • @sciencemilitia1853
      @sciencemilitia1853 5 років тому +1

      @@Marvelfunfaqs Yeah the 450 will not have to work as hard. They last at least twice as long. More if you detune it so that it cant physically work as hard even when you pin it. And 10 Lbs is vaguely noticeable on the track and trails. Id get a wr450f. The yz450f and yz450fx only have electric start. Wr is kick and electric start. Helps a lot when its cold and the electeic starter cant spin the engine fast enough to start the bike. You can also kick start it if the electric start system is dead or broken.

    • @Zgembo121
      @Zgembo121 5 років тому +1

      ISLAND RIDERS DIRTBIKES the advice to go with a 450 is wrong. I started with a suzuki 450 and its got too much uncontrolable power. Only the top pro rider can use that power. The rest of us mortals just use the half of the power of a 450 and we r stuck with all the negatives of a 450. Yes its only 10lbs heavier but due to the inertia and spinning components of the motor it will feel much much heavier. Now with the 250 im faster and i dont tire as much.

    how do you break in the suspension? im getting a 2019 yz250f and its gonna be my first bike thats brand new

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  5 років тому

      Just go a ride it! There is no real "break in" process for suspension. Just set your sag before you ride the first time and then check it again a few rides later after your shock has broken in. After that, you're good to go. Just make sure your changing your oil. I like to go about 20-25 hours between shock and fork oil changes. Believe, it makes a difference when you have fresh oil in there! Thanks for watching.-Chase

    So someone tell me how well does it corner compared to honda? I'm 195lbs so like the yami engine curve better than honda but really like what I'm hearing about Honda's cornering. I like front end steering more which my 17 kx250f seems to fight me with some. Thanks guys.

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  5 років тому +1

      Man, that's like splitting hairs on this one. But if I had to give the slight edge in cornering, I'd have to say Honda. Although, this Yamaha can easily steer with the front end. I honestly don't think that is needed for this bike. If you want more bottom, I think it's easier to upload a new map. Kris keefer has some good maps you can get from his testing site that will add bottom and keep the good mid to top range. We recently filmed a build for this bike and his map did the trick.

      really wish they would build a new 2 stroke engine with fuel injection. the 250 2 stroke has had the same engine going on 20 years..... smdh..

      If two strokes were so great why did 4 strokes take over motocross and supercross

    • @yz1402
      @yz1402 5 років тому

      Justin Verbonitz smoother power delivery with the 4 strokes allows pros to manipulate the bike slightly better than some of the more wheel spinney 2 strokes

      This bike turns well, is balanced, and has the most power in class. Chances of them turning it back around are less than zero...IMO.
