      When you have money... your wife doesn't have to "let" you do anything. If you have balls and cash you tell her what you're gonna do and that's how it works.
      I bought a second house and my woman had the nerve to tell me I should've consulted her first. Until her finances catch mine... I'm not consulting her about any financial decisions.

    Great theatre Matt and another great presentation Tony. I'm building one almost the same with the MX 20s, Shane from in touch electronics is also doing the install so it's good to see how this all pans out. Shane has delivered the speaker wire which is being installed through the walls by the builder were getting sound insulation throughout the walls and ceiling and sound proof gyprock. I have put a podium in to Shane's specs and he is using it as a bass trap like yours. I have also made up acoustic panels and diffusers and have had the acoustic panels printed on cotton where I stretched them over stretcher bars. Love those Chairs and I will look into them as I had my heart set on the Valencia Tuscany, My wife will probably like the heated seats with massage no doubt. Cheers Paul

      Absolutely Eli. From my understanding with height speakers 🔊 Dolby Atmos has they speakers in an Alignment with Front speakers. As for Auro 3D, I think 🤔 Matt has his Height speaker layout for Auro 3D at 30 degrees as well for Dolby Atmos firing directly into listening area. To my knowledge & looking into it, it has a little more immersive experience. But that All depends on Mata data on disc.

      The main listening position is the front middle, but I decided early on that I wanted the rear seats to sound awesome as well, so I actually left a 800 gap between the back wall so the rears are behind the seats and sound amazing. Worked out well cause I love the distance of the screen to the front seat, It's like extreme screen 😁

    • @Triggaaar
      @Triggaaar 3 роки тому

      @@mattmuncher2315 Hey Matt, thanks for the reply. My room is a similar width as yours, but not as long, so no doubt it sounds a lot better at the back of your room than mine. We're also a family of 4 and when I planned out my room, I figured 2 of us would sit front centre, and 2 back centre, but it became clear I couldn't make the audio right for both rows, so we were best off all at the front. I actually saw a good video of Tony's, where he commented that he removed his back row when it dawned on him that he had no friends (only kidding Tony!). Once I decided to have our 4 main seats at the front I considered not bothering with the rear because I know we won't use it often either. But it's good for the kids' friends, and for watching footy etc, so I put 4 more standard cinema seats in (rather than the luxury recliners).
      When EQ'ing your 15 speakers at 2 subs, you understandably chose the front as the place to calibrate. And given that you chose the front, no doubt the video looks best from the front too, so I imagine all 4 positions at the front are better than any at the back.
      Now if the 4 of you don't actually watch films together much, it's a moot point, but if you do, it's not exactly difficult for you to move one of the back seats to the front to try it. But if you prefer the way it is, that's cool 👊
      Like I said, it's a great room, nicely blacked out for great image quality, with decent lighting. And those almost black poster panels you've made are great.

    Hi Matt, I notice with your rear surrounds they are almost in a 5.1 style set up (in the corner on the wall), then you have two ATMOS speakers as the speakers directly behind the seats correct? Interested as to why you didnt stick with the traditional 7.1 style setup and have your rear surrounds on the wall behind you as apposed to in the rear corners.

    • @krixdotcom
      @krixdotcom 3 роки тому

      Hi Hyuuu, as we had a hand in this room layout I thought I would help to answer. Speaker positions are generally based on angles, they're not necessarily defined by a specific wall or corner placement. In Matt's theatre, with the reference seat in the centre front row, his side and rear surrounds are well within spec for both positions. There were two additional factors to this placement - the first being that Matt has a large window taking up most of the rear wall, so the rear speakers couldn't be mounted there. Secondly, the rear positioning also stopped the rear speakers from being on the inside of any viewers, making it a more consistent experience for everyone. What this means is that no right speaker is to the left of any viewer, no left speaker is to the right, no top front speaker is behind any viewer and no top rear is in front. Having the speakers all angled towards the main seat also helps a lot with consistency between all seats. I hope this clarifies the positioning. Cheers.

      @@krixdotcom makes complete sense, thanks for the info. Perhaps one day there will be a "middle back" location, where you can have the left and right rears as you mentioned, then a middle back directly behind at just above ear height. I think there would be enough seperation from the rear surrounds and heights to make this a rather nice addition. In Matts case, perhaps directly under the projection : ) complete audio immersion! well done on the room, it really is next level re: the positioning. Lastly, do you find a significant advantage using the height speakers angled vs amore discrete in-wall solution ? I would assume most would prefer not to have larger ceiling speakers hanging down and angled towards them, athough for an audio immersion perspective, i think it would be hard to beat. Can an in-wall ceiling solution achieve the same results ? in terms of surface area, the speakers chosen & angled towards would allow all of the drivers to disperse sound directly in the intended angle, it really would be hard to beat.

    • @krixdotcom
      @krixdotcom 3 роки тому

      @@hyuuuhyyy7887 no problems. There is actually already at least three rear surround and rear centre possibilities on each side (ie RRS, RRS1, RRS2, RCS) however the Trinnov is the only processor capable of rendering those positions right now. DSP chip based processors only really allow one set of rear surrounds at this point in time. The angled speakers are beneficial as you get a more uniform frequency response at your seat (as you are more on-axis), and it helps with consistency of object positioning for a larger listening area. An in-wall or in-ceiling solution is cleaner for aesthetics, but it's worth keeping in mind that this speaker can then be more off-axis to the main seat (depending on the dispersion characteristics, the higher frequencies in particular start to roll off). This generally means that the equalisation system will try to equalise the response for the main seat and attempt to pull the HF back up again. This uses up available power, taxes the HF driver more (depending on your target SPL at main seat), and also means that if there is a secondary row/viewer close to the speaker, they will hear a disproportionate amount of HF ie. it could be quite harsh/bright. Some concealed speakers implement an angled baffle which can go a way in helping to alleviate these issues. Like any dedicated room, it's beneficial if the aesthetics, positioning, performance etc are all thought of as a whole as part of the room design.

      @hyuuuhyyy7887 3 роки тому

      @@krixdotcom thanks for the info again, yes agreed, i was leaning towards a clean in-wall solution, however i'm now more open minded to on-wall carefully positioned heights and surrounds, given the acoustic advantages. Agreed I think you can have a balance between all options. It's a shame the Trinnov is the only processor (currently) available, given the way things are going, I dare say front wides and rear centres could become the norm (here's hoping! 10 ear level and 4 height channel) and more 'affordable' flag ship processors support it ie - dennon, marantz, anthem. As sound coming directly from the centre behind does make sense to me, quite a few movies could utalise that channel well. Do you find front wides make a worth while difference in a single row theatre design ?

    • @krixdotcom
      @krixdotcom 3 роки тому

      Hi @@hyuuuhyyy7887, sorry I think we missed this one during our conversation the other week. The front wides are great for filling that gap between your front soundstage and your first set of side surrounds. In some rooms where the seating is on the back wall and rear surrounds can't be used, front wides may be a good option. Their use is very specific to the listening area as well as the room size. They're also not always used in every soundtrack or upmixer, so it's worthwhile weighing up the options.
