It's 1 AM and I've just started listening to this for the first time. Not going to bed until I've finished, I already feel like this should be essential education for young hip-hop heads like me, man. Beautiful beats and real lyrics.
No doubt one of the most underrated albums
yeah bro
@@deal4real2000 this was one of the best albums in the 90s I remember having this on cassette tape when it first came out you had it been from the east coast and been around an error to know about Milk-Bone he's from Jersey I'm from Maryland so that's probably why I knew about it
Bought this cassette the week it dropped in '95...I copped the "Keep It Real" single first (which had "How Ya Like It" on the B side 👍🏾) and after that I needed to hear the whole Miilk album
I'm from *MARYLAND* too...shouts to Jersey got fam in the South and North section
This is one of the most underrated albums ever. Miilkbone had dope bars over dope, boom bap beats. A true classic.
DMVLeGenD96 Absolutely
@@antonio8904100 true talent and a cool ass dude in person
agree 1000%
Hell yeah. It's funny how some casuals said keep it real beats did success more than miilkbone's career. bruh 90% of talented lyricists didn't sell much on mainstream so what's the point?
@@quas3728 Keep It Real may be the song that made him temporarily known and the beat is famous but Imo Move Wit Da Grooves, Mindgames & Check Me Out are even better, probably my favourite.
Even though he didnt make it, thats what makes this an underground gem and why it should stay that way.
Brother turned 43 earlier this month. Dude deserved more credit, rap music ain't easy.
Criminally underrated album. Should be regarded as a classic, unfortunately most people haven't even heard it. I still remember when I coped this at a show in 1995 it's not the official album its the promotional version, was giving them away for free.
Milkbone was robbed of the success he could've had.
He's the only other white rapper before Eminem that had MAD potential.
But I feel his vibe was "too black" for white america. Em was more commercial and marketable, Milkbone was too "street" i guess.
True
Words
***** I have to disagree with you. JoJo Pellegrino was on the verge of breaking into the biz. He was on Violator and heavily affiliated with the Wu-Tang Clan - both Miilk & JoJo had Potential...... They can't comprehend white boys from the hood...
They both did not get the commercial success they both truly deserve(d)!
+Rikkid Germano he knew it too!
"My lyrics and my style don't match what I look like"
It's all about the promotion. If this album was promoted like Doggystyle it would of sold atleast 500k.
koiramies Agreed. Unfortunately it wasn't promoted or pushed at all. Capital was basically done with rap at this point. And the fact that he was a hood rapper that happened to be white seriously hurt him too. Most people ignored him for that reason alone.
@@antonio8904100 Yep, he got sabotaged by his label situation.
Being white and serious played against him. Meanwhile, Eminem got pushed with that corny gimmick rap he was doing for kids.
@@paysandekinshasa3513 L. Nerd
Don't get it twisted, tho - Doggstyle has production infinitely better than this.

I've never had to struggle this much to track down an album in my life! Da Miilkrate is a seriously rare album, but eventually, I always manage to track them down. And really, it has nothing to do with wanting to play the CD once you get it, because you can just easily download the damn thing on the net; it's about priding yourself in having a rare collection of Hip-Hop albums that only purists among us would appreciate. The only other album that was just as elusive, was Kurious
+Tshepiso Sello Hey man, can you tell me some hip hop albums to check out?. I'm searching for some real shit. Thanks.
This is just a random list but are all worth checking out:
Superstion - Leave Of Absence
All Natural - Second Nature
The Away Team - Training Day
Swollen Members - Balance
One Be Lo - S.O.N.O.G.R.A.M.
Viktor Vaughn - Vaudeville Villain
Theory Hazit - Extra Credit
Blu & Exile - Below The Heavens
Zion I - Mind Over Matter
Common Market - Self titled
Mhz - Table Scraps
Anti-Pop Consortium - Arrhythmia
Phoenix Orion - Zimulated Experiences
Saafir - Boxcar Sessions (dope)
Del - No Need for Alarm
The UMC's - Unleashed
EPMD - Business Never Personal
Ultramagnetic MCs - Critical Beatdown
+Tshepiso Sello Seriously rare? What? It's one of the first vinyl records I bought lol if you find this album 'seriously rare' you have no idea what that means lol
+Dustfingaz I'm really curious to find out how long ago this was?
+Tshepiso Sello I've still go it on vinyl!
The production on this record was atleast ten years ahead of it's time.under rated.
I frickin love 90's hip-hop!
lol you really are one pathetic little loser
+jesus shaves why
@@COLEEN322 the only loser here is you dawg
@Underground Chamber Muzik made in the 90s but he was brought up by a 80s rapper biz markie and you can definitely hear the 80s in this lol dont see anything 90s about this shit other than the production date
Def on my underrated album list.

the mind tricks the body, body thinks the mind is crazy
Who is the 1st MC to rap those lyrics, Sir? (Please share)
It Was Black Moon On There Song
(How Many Mc's) In 1993.
I grew up wth Miilk... my boy....... love him!!!!!!!!!!!!
"Move wit da groove" touches my soul.....
Mango Time Love that track. I still remember grinding my ex to that at a house party back in Detroit
Same mate, its the piano sample, goes deep.
Im 37, never heard of this guy till today in 2014. I am very impressed. I can NOT stand Eminem and think he is garbage. He became popular because of his circus sideshow videos. This guy is much better
Check Eminems 'infinite' album bruv, before he got signed. Illness fe real
Eminen is pop, Milkbone is real hip hop
did you even check it?!
Em's verbal gymnastics coupled together with his clever metaphors and punchlines would annihilate milbone don't be so fucking ignorant !
One Two theyre completely differeny
this is the type of hip hop i want...so good!
I loved this album. I remember when dropped.
True 90s vibes from start to finish. Peace
Thx God I am here and listen to this dope album, this made me back in 90s... where I was young, some friends are alive,we are drunk and happy and young...
One word! Great!
milkbone has mad skills!!!
Has his still got it. Mainstream radio does not push lyrical rap anymore cos it doesn't sell records
Just bought the LP 💵
Hey guys Miillkbone is still in the game. He's posting new songs on his UA-cam channel @ Miilkbone1

holy dump Milkbone is one of the dopest rappers I have heard ha
Happy 50th birthday Milkbone
Why oh why did Spotify pull this album? At least it’s on here.
Does anyone remember the reaction/the atmposphere or the hype when this album dropped?
I was just 3 in 95 so I'd like to know more about the reception or if anybody has memories related to this beautiful gem
There use to be a thing called jukebox I believe...a video channel on TV where you had to call and pay for the video to be played... I'm from Perth Amboy NJ same town as him...and let me tell you the video was playing all day long for at least a few few weeks from what I remember..goodtimes...sad that it takes this long to recognize the dopeness
Ketchrek could low key be the illest track...the whole album is solid overall...Miilk was on fire
Thanks alot dude
Thanks Much Respect
Man, his voice sounds different and deep during this time.. It's strange how different his voice was in his second album, U Got Milk (2001), when I heard and compared both of them. I wonder what happened to his voice since then 🤔
My fave 14:39 "Move Wit Da Groove"
so good
Chance St.Thomas Absolutely. I still remember grinding my ex to that track at a house party back in Detroit
Happy bday Milkbone
Rap Underground
Trill!!!!! he still makes songs Just look up Miilkbone1 on youtube and enjoy :)))))

Miilk -B > Eminem.
Too fucking underrated.
Tite album!
Classic album!! Wonder what happened to this dude?
he is still active on his youtube @Miilkbone1
his music started bein shit since 2001 in my opinion....
That intro is just screaming - Please except me Please ? I mean after all I grew up NEXT to the projects and I mean I actually had black friends 😂🤣🙃
Nobody actually agreed with you though.
who did the intro easy e or milk bone first
man...this album flopped...wanted to buy the original CD on amazon.de....they dont sell fucking shit in germany. I want to own this shit in my hip hop collection. But all they sell is fucking shit from the swag generation.
I dont even understand why it flopped. This is dope as fuck..
Try eBay
deal4real2000
yea thought about that, thanks anyways
Capitol Records fucked the whole marketing and promotion of this classic
Ross N. C. Vince True. I think the whole Vanilla Ice thing didnt help either
They had air play heavy on the radio/MTV etc but did NOT release the album until months later, after the buzz died down... Miilkbone eventually tried to release the album himself as he had to get another day job, and then he was industry blackballed because of his perceived going behind the labels back.
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHO PRODUCED THIS ALBUM?????
There's Multiple Producers
Nick Wiz, Mufi, Kay Gee, Pookie Gist
@@deal4real2000 Mufi produced majority of the tracks on the album including the hit single "keep it real". I would say his sound and production style dictated the direction of the album sonically.

Not a bad album tho
Not really featuring big. More like a sample
The album contained no features from AZ or BIG. 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
how in the fuck this album never get mentioned in the hip hop history
beats my imagination just discovered ydy, being on heavy rotation. Why didn't this hv major radio play "Ask Flex"
its mad to know he dropped this gem album at just 21 yrs old....wow what an era of Emcees
one of the dopest albums of the 90s
What a dope fuckin album. Knew a little about Miilkbone but never heard this CD in its entirety. Learned some more about Nick Wiz today as well. Peace going into 2020
holy fuck milkbone most dope ever
Over 20 years later and this album is still a classic I remember buying this tape when I was working a summer job in high school
This album is FIRE!
You had to be an extremely gifted Emcee to make noise in the golden era. That's why i respect Miikbone.. This album is a body of work.
so ill..crazy album from the start to finish !
This might be an unpopular opinion, most people will say Keep It Real is his best song.. May be his most popular one with the beat been famously overused by many rapper but for me his best rap song overall is Mindgamez.
"Mind tricks the body,
Body thinks the mind is crazy"
Underrated hook line
😌Buckshot of Black Moon
The production was heavily influenced by illmatic, i guess thats why its a good album.
you think so lol
What?
First time I heard this guy Miilkbone and this is a good album
A good? . This is a great album
Back in the day this c cassette was on my steady rotation.I want to purchase the CD but Amazon prices are ridiculous

Cos its a freestyle
Why was it taken off of Apple Music ? This album is near classic and nick wiz at his best on the beats
I Like this album
