I have heard this, but I have also heard things improved in 2014 (not biased because that’s what I have, but I have actually heard this). They are all great though!
Early models might have a secondary air injection pump when the weather is moist. The rubber cap fails. Happened to my 2010 Tundra. I read somewhere on models after 2010 they solved this issue

It is a TRD pro grille! Very hard to get from the manufacturer, but there are a few sites that have ones you can buy third party.
