Hello and a huge thank you to all who have watched, commented and donated to our buymeacoffee. We do want to make sure people are aware we are not in extreme need, so please don't worry about us. We were lucky enough to have owned our flat in London which we sold to buy our boat, and we were able to keep some of that money aside for repairs such as this. It's painful to have to spend that money, but we feel very lucky to have had it at all and to be able to replace our engine. We will talk about this in our next video. Thank you so much again. We are overwhelmed by your generosity and it means a lot to us as we are on low incomes and it will take a long time for us to rebuild the savings cushion we had. We will also pay it forwards as soon as we can.
What a bummer!! I really feel bad for you two and wish you the best possible outcome. Head gasket and lack of proper cooling. Thank you for sharing and being real with all of us!
Thank you for watching! It's weird, I know things got to me a little, but also, as we were in such a lovely spot, we were also sort of strangely chilled about it for the most part. X❤️
So sorry to hear your problem with your narrowboat, but life sends us challenges and often they bring us down but after a little time we must pick our self up and tackle them and when we will look back on these times, and see just how much we have learnt and grown. I wish you both the best of luck with fixing your much loved narrowboat home.❤❤❤
Poor you, how excruciatingly stressful especially with family and work commitments. I really feel for you. Puts my current boaty issues into perspective. But, at least you know where you stand now and can start planning a solution which is something. Fingers crossed you can get a tow. 🤞
I don't know, even when we have had relatively small boat issues, it always feels big in the moment. In a weird way, I (Stu) was less stressed about this than when we have had plumbing issues, because I know this is beyond my capabilities to fix! Thank you for watching!
Unable to help with the engine issues I'm afraid, however, I really think you're onto something with the honey and custard that'll put those smiles back in place!!! Wishing you both lots of luck for a better solution. Really enjoy your vlogs! 👍👍💗
So very sorry the engine has to go and hope you can get it sorted very soon chins up things usually work out for the best sending blessings tc now the oldies 🤗🤗🙏
Oh no! I hope you manage to get a reliable engine at a good price and can get back to cruising, and avoid the field of poorly boats 🤎 The engine clean did show up on camera - it was sparkling ✨️✨️
so sorry to hear of your problems guys hoping you can find a good a decent proper engine out there, your biggest problem will be the cost of fitting, labor is so expensive. I would love to be able to throw a couple of bob your way but im a 75 yr pensioner. so come on you lot help out this lovely couple, they entertain us every week, dig deep
Thank you for watching and for your kindness. We really appreciate everyones kind support. We have some savings set aside for just this sort of thing, as we knew the engine might be a problem at some point, though we didn't think it would happen quite so soon. X
It's always upsetting when anything goes wrong with your boat which is your home, we get attached to them. I really hope you get the new engine and it's not too expensive 🙏 will be crossing my fingers it all works out well.x😊
Get a 2nd hand BMC , Perkins, Lister LPW. Don't waste money with new on that boat. The engines I mention are tried and tested cheap work-horses. Parts cheap and easily available if/when needed. I have 1976 Perkins 4.108 which will last until they make the use of diesel illegal.
so sorry for you , which way to jump , we had to jump a new clutch on car, we had it since 2009, did not want to change it better the devil you know. just take care thinking of you both .😋🤩
If you had a head gasket failure you would have seen water in your oil. If there are recurring problems with air locks, you could drill and tap a hole at the high point in the water system and install a valve🙂
Not good news, surprising the too small and wrongly plumbed skin tank had not created problems before. We had a share in a narrowboat for nearly 20 years, that had a Barrus Shire engine, that did a lot of hours, eventually being replaced by another of the same model which I believe is still going. The engine started out as a Kubota engine, but is properly marinised, and never overheated.
Yes, we were surprised as well, that said, we think the issues may have been about for a while but the Peugeot engines are known to be quite reliable and durable so I suspect it was carrying on, despite many issues! Thank you for watching. X
Start a gofund me for your new engine you both don't ask for a thing and I'm sure your subs will be more than happy to support you both I know I would 👍
I'm sure it's nothing you did to the engine. If anything could be changed, it would be to have known more about the engine when you bought the boat, but we all have to start somewhere, and it's obvious you have learned quite a bit in the last 2 years.
Thank you. Yeah, I sometimes regret that I (Stu) didn't learn more about engines when we bought Annie, but I've always been better at learning when actually being hands on. Though we kinda new the engine was odd when we bought Annie, which is why we wanted to make sure we had savings enough, just in case... We just didn't think the just in case situation would happen after only two years. Either way, I don't think we would have been put off of buying Annie and we have had an amazing two years, all the same. Thank you for watching and your lovely comment. X❤️
Thank you so much, Dave! We are lucky to have such lovely followers! We do have savings for just this sort of thing, but it really is appreciated and takes a bit of the strain, so thank you for your generosity and hopefully we will be able to pay forward everyone's generosity at some point. X
From what you have said it sounds like they sent out a salesman rather then a mechanic anyone with any idea would realise that if you have owned and used that boat for two years without any problems how come it didn't play up before second opinions are needed when faced with bills of £10,000 to be faced

Thank you!! X x
Oh no! So sorry about Annie's engine! I am hoping everything has gotten sorted and you guys are back cruising again! ❤❤
Thank you ❤️ we are still in the fixing process 2 months later but almost there now x x

Oh no, that's a right pain! At least now you know and can plan accordingly! Can't wait for the next instalment of 'enginegate' :)
Enginegate 😂
Hey guys, hope you get/have got the engine problem resolved and within your budget. Have a blessed week 🙏❤
Thank you for watching! X❤️

Ah, we were advised by multiple people to get new if we could afford to and have already gone ahead
It was time for it to happen sorry for you worries Xx
Thank you for your kind words x
Oh no, I am so sorry to hear this. I really hope it isn't too expensive:( x
Thank you! X❤️
Sorry to hear you have been victims of a bodge .You were’nt to know 😢you have my deepest sympathy.
Thank you so much ❤️
🤞I hope it all works out. 🤞
Thank you so much ❤️
RCR used to do a reconditioned beta engine installed at a reasonable cost.
Oh, that is so sad! I hope that it wil turn out well and not drain your finances.. 😪
Thank you so much ❤️
so sorry for you , which way to jump ,

just take care thinking of you both .😋🤩
Thank you, you take care as well. ❤️X
oh I am sad. hope there is a happy ending
Thank you x x

We did indeed see oil in the water. Installing a valve would unfortunately not fix the huge issue that the skin tank is way too small for the engine 💙
Adieu Peugeot.
🫂
We had a bit of a lovely/hate relationship with the Peugeot, but still sad to see it go! 😅

Thank you so much for your support 💚 we are lucky enough to have savings for this sort of scenario so crowdfunding wouldn't feel right for us
Sorry to hear about you engine , have you considered crowd funding .

Some buy me a coffee donations would be a lovely gesture right now. I’ve done my bit 😊

@@bobbing_alongyou can always put it towards ongoing maintenance so not an issue at all 😊

The railway bridge not the train bridge?
Ok
The more you keep using you broken engine the more damage your doing
Do you mean running the engine? This was required by the engineers to diagnose the problem
