Hey everyone, I do wanna say that despite the negativity in this video and the comment section, I still plan on finishing my Destiny series, it just means I might try different things in the meantime. I'm not "done with Destiny"
@@DioStandProudI don't think they are that much different in terms of work. I've seen the tools they use to make new armour and it's just them sliding and dropping boxes. I'd assume it's the same for shells too so prob similar amount of work
You know its sad when I'd rather be replaying Destiny 1 on XBX. EDIT: Escape the sunk cost fallacy while you can my guy, let Bungie face their fate, after what that car-addict did, there is no more hope.
I know BUNGIE underdeliverred with what they promised for episodes, and that's ok to be upset about, however I do feel that if you compare Echoes to other seasons, it has quite a lot going for it. First off it's leagues better than the other seasons that follow on from expansions because those always suck. But even relative to other normal seasons, it has a decent ammount. Seraph for example, AKA the peak season only really had three battlegrounds, an exotic mission, a few weekly missions and some secrets. Echoes has a new activity (I don't enjoy it but it's not as bad as Salvage or Nightmare containment), a new timed mission which I think you forgot, three new battlegrounds, the first two are fairly standerd but I actually really like the third one, it has a new environment and the final boss is one that hasn't been used since the sunset curse of Osirus strike, I also like how they each follow on from eachother and overall like them more than most past battlegrounds, or at least the versions you can currently play in the playlist (Heist battlegrounds were way better as battlegrounds). And then we have the exotic mission as well as some other missions that were added on. We also got a tweaked version of the vex AI, nothing remarkable, but these Wyverns are way less painful to fight because they don't just walk at you spamming their bolts. Encore has some neat puzzles that unlocked and that first boss fight was really intense, it's major downfall is the final boss - why is BUNGIE still using Hydras as bosses ten years later? They sucked as a boss template in the Nexus strike, and they still suck now, they spam one attack and will hit you around cover! - and of course the fact it was the entirety of act three, if there had been a boss fight with Maya, or the boss was like an expansion on the Penoptes/Quaria design instead of just another regular ass hydra, I'd be way more posative. Also the mission had a great environment, not Zero hour great, maybe just behind Seraphs sheild (I will never not be botherred by the solar pannels clipping through the ketch.) The story wasn't anything special like Seraph or Witch, but it was less repetative than season of Plunder or season of the coil- I mean Wish. Would have hit harder if the entire community didn't immediately know it was Maya from the first trailer. I don't especually care about Osirus and Saint, but I don't mind it either. The ending was very dissapointing and Saint's corruption went nowhere. But Failsafe is a f*cking treasure and I'll hear no argument. I also actually like the collecting radiolite and customising the HELM is neat, if minimal, plus unlocking pets for Failsafe is great. But the quests for upgrades were really tedious. The one aspect where I feel your argument leaned a little into unreasonable was your critique of the weapons. Complaining about "reskins" confuses me because I don't see that as a weapon complaint, recolours is a weapon complaint, but the Echoes weapons have the new vex designs added to them which do make them look quite different, and they have different perks from the weapons of the past. So the only thing that's really the same is the base model, and honestly... there's only so many ways for an auto rifle to look, if it's aesthetic, perks and profile change, I think it's fine to call it a new gun. The special GL is just a recolour of the splicer GL, which is a valid complaint although it being a new frame eliviates that a little. Overall I don't think the weapons are similar enough to past designs to warrent getting angry over it. There's an argument to be made that things that aren't new shouldn't be made, that's the mentality Remnant 2 has, but that game has like six new weapons per DLC for that reason, which isn't really viable for D2. Personally my big issue with the episode - aside from that bloody hydra - was that Nessus wasn't changed at all, dropping into the timed mission was an excellent moment, but aside from one new "activity", Nessus is exactly the same, and other than Failsafe, I hate Nessus. The area has a new coat of paint in the seasonal activities, but not in the overworld, the Vex just have collars now. Changing the aesthetics, adding Maya's vex instead, and making breach Excecuteable function like Overthrow instead of Salvage would have made it all way better. Overall, relative to other seasons, I think Echoes is a 7/10, I liked it infinately more than slop like Risen, Defiance, Deep (apart from Ghosts of the Deep which is peak) and Haunted. And more than mediocre seasons like Plunder and Wish. But it falls short of the greats like Witch abd Seraph.
The worst part in this game for me is the simultaneous presence and no-presence of the characters that would not shut the hell up through the radio. Its time to go back to halo type of friendly ai, make ai useful and not some teleporting and weak damaging unit, make them feel like a valuable asset on an arena. I’d have triple the playtime and care in missions if for example i could fight alongside crow, or some other lightbearer, or even mithrax. (I know we fought alongside him, but they always had a way to make him vanish or just be completely useless and a dull ai). In other terms give the characters more life by including them in your conquests as companions and not radio minions, its stale. Whats also stale is the “go to location” “characters will talk in front of you” “they walk backwords” “vanish”, ffs make them stay there, roam around, talk to you, make it more believable, you did it so many years ago in halo, with technology nowadays its far from possible
The technology Bungie had back at the era of Halo was something called commitment, or passion, I don't remember exactly what it was... but it seems current Bungie doesn't have access to it. They only have new cars
Even just seeing them complete their objectives alongside us, even on a video monitor. That's what I loved about the final shape's final campaign mission, the vanguard all turn up at the end and we all fight together, and they're actually pretty good, we go into another dimension while they hold the door. That last cutscene of them escaping from the Witness was great
@@domvasta it surely was a surprise but they were more of statue-turrets and less of an ai, if you replay the missions you’ll understand what im saying it took me some playthroughs to see how lazy their intervention was. Also for the guy who said about the lightfall fight, sure it was solid, at least in feeling, but caitl was nowhere to be found when it came to finishing calus, bungie’s writing team found another way to make a character non present so that they dont have to animate new fights, create new ai movement or anything, stop giving them money, this past episode’s quest line had like 7 or 8 of it’s steps be the same task, this is your money were talking about
My problem with seasonal stories is that they could easily be bigger and bigger but it’ll never happen because bungie wasn’t willing to invest more in the game . The only good thing about episodes is that I have plenty of time to play everything with how long it takes to release acts. FOMO got less worse I guess?
@JPOG7TV now that I think about it something I forgot to mention was how easy the season pass is to do. No other compliments that weren't already mentioned though unfortunately:(
It was clear from the start that the "3 episodes" was just cost/resources cuts to maximize the profit and milk the customers as much as possible. Instead of thinking, designing and developing 4 different stories they just did 3 and sold for the same price. The rest is just marketing bullshit to make people think it's something new...
Arc logic was one of my favorites so the riposte was a wonderful addition. I do love the lost signal. I see what they tried to do comparing Saint/Osiris vs Maya/Chioma and how people see/use relationships. Also I'm sure the start of act 1 is foreshadowing for frontiers but it gives off huge death flags for Osiris. I do agree with what you said about pacing because it's been pretty bad. I'm expecting the new two episodes to be better. Usually post expansion is a let down because of the high we were in. From the final shape and all that to what we got ooof. I'll reserve my judgment after the next two. Great video with lots of great points.
They really seemed to push hard about how evil Maya is, morally, for deleting simulated copies of her wife and not, she literally has the power to control people, even light bearers. Like it would be all hunky dory, if she were just wanting to control all life to bring us back to the golden age if she did what Osiris did and pulled the first copy of his boyfriend that he found, out of the simulation, and was content with that, despite them giving good reasons for the simulated copies of the ishtar researchers being different, since they all knew they were simulations and voluntarily went back into the vex network at the start of the Collapse to hinder the Vex's attempt to take over Sol, even this episode, theres audio dialogue from simulated Mayas and Chiomas, they have given themselves numbers, it would just be so easy for Maya to just ask "hey, you know you're a simulation, right?" And instead of deleting them, just releasing them back to the vex network, there's literally zero reason for her to delete them, she could even command them to help her find her Chioma.
Echoes was heat. But that is my opinion. Loved doing the Encore mission and the encounter during Act 1 where we have to rescue Saint was soooo fun. This is coming from someone who dipped out around Season of Arrivals and came back when the delay for TFS was announced.
@DioStandProud honestly I was excited for Encore, and I was pretty disappointed. Visually interesting, but boring gameplay compared to what we've gotten in the past. I'm just gonna go back to Strange Journey on the DS
@@Nanokk_ oh, one more thing. As someone who is in a lesbian relationship, my wife and I kept making wild jokes and remarks the further we got into the story of the Conductor's experiments. So while I know the story is not everyone's cup of tea, it is also absolutely hilarious that this season can be summarized as: "two gay men can finally settle down and have their happy, loving relationship. Divinely powered, narcissistic lesbian heavily disagrees." 😂
This episode combined with Bungie falling apart at the seams was what finally convinced my friend who's played for over 10000 hours since D1 to finally put it down
The sad part is I've seen so many people disregard the Sain and Osiris crap by calling those who dislike them being the center of attention (again) homophobic. I'll be honest, its not that I'm homophobic, its the fact that their relationship is constantly shoved down our throats and simultaneously the shittiest written gay romance I've ever seen. Fucking h3ntai has better gay relationships than what Bungie is writing with Saint and Osiris. At this point, just give us a divorce storyline, that'd at least be more interesting than Saint going "Osiris, you had intercourse with a fake Russian robot."
It's just crazy that that's the thing he has an existential crisis about, being from a simulation, but that still makes no sense, the vex supposedly can't simulate paracausality, yet he has his light and his ghost, why can't osiris just go back and get a Sagira from the infinite forest too?
I'm 7 years in and still having a lot of fun. Knowing the crunch Bungie was under to deliver an amazing TFS story and ending, and giving us the amount of weapons and a very enjoyable exotic mission that will be changing over the next few weeks, I personally can't complain at all. @ $100, and the amount I play with friends, it's still a massive deal when it comes to entertainment. When things get a little stale, I just play a few games that I need to finish up and return. All of this is subjective, so people can feel how they feel, but when you break it all down, especially under the circumstances, it's still one of the best deals in gaming... and we still have 2 episodes to go.
@@DioStandProud Absolutely. I can't tell you how much fun I'm having with The Call and Aberrant Action. Ergo Sum has also been a nice surprise with the right roll.
I just like gunplay alot choir of one is like my new signature weapon, so hopefully, if D2 survives the marathon tape worm, it can be my weapon for more months or years
so real on the trace rifle part, Chronophage is just Hollow Denial but better, wish we got something unique, maybe a new trace rifle frame. Only thing I liked about the season is Encore, especially the part where we see Lakshmi degauss the exomind, gives me SOMA vibes.
I thought they put way too much emphasis on that, she's literally taken the power to override free will, even the free will of guardians. Deleting copies of her wife just makes her seem stupid, just command them to go find the real Chioma.
"I hate Destiny, it's my favorite game" now feels like a very outdated joke, like how do they fumble a game this bad, I used to be addicted to D2, but now I'm getting on it just because I payed for the whole annual pass thing. It's just sad to see bungie shit on their only actual game.
@@Nanokk_ Same here, coming back to this after the mobile game announcement genuinely made me feel like they just shit on my mouth, pushed me down a stair and shot my whole family in front of me, this sucks man, its not a game death, its a game massacre.
@Poor_boli I pre-ordered the steel book, played 10 hours, and never touched it again. I was pissed. (Also btw I have a video about the smt nocturne remaster give it a look!)
I'm not a fan of the auto rifle being special ammo, because Bungie keeps trying to kill Special ammo acquisition, just like they keep doing other nerfs we didn't need. They continue to keep taking away the fun we have or find. I'm tired man.
@ScarletStarManor yeah I'd prefer if Bungie wasn't trying to kill special ammo enjoyers but hey, the more interesting exotic weapons that actually change how you play the better imo
My gripe with this act 3 is, They give us and exotic mission thats is stupidly long for now reason, then they come out and say the reward is busted or something while not addressing the mission breaking bugs that appear, then when that is addressed they look like idiots on twitter when they realise they should have done more testing instead of bringing in the funpolice
Tbh I haven't experienced a single bug in the exotic mission, and it was as long as I expected an exotic mission to be. Didn't feel much longer than Zero Hour, and I'm pretty sure it was about as long as the Revision Zero mission.
@supercato9613 the only reason I took so long is I took about an hour to figure out where I was supposed to be going at the start of it and then I kept dying during the part where you run from the wall of death that chases you back to the first main encounter room.
The whole point of episodes is to mix up delivery and it did so on that front, that was their intention with it from the beginning and they said themselves that’s what they wanted to change. I think people got drastically confused with their own expectations and thought they were just gonna be nothing like seasons anymore. They’ve improved on the seasonal vendor system, the activities are generally stronger than the ones we’ve gotten in the past. Release model is way more important than people realize, and the content gating from week to week to week was one of the biggest pain points, and I think that is the biggest valid critique of the new model and that’s why they’re trying to adhere to the community feedback they’ve gotten in the future episodes. I hated seasons since like splicer and I was really hoping for a different direction and I got that for the most part, I just dnc about the story and I think the writing is definitely gonna struggle with the rebuilding they need to do after the final shape
You kind of have to realize that this is gonna be how the in between release model is gonna be unless they ditch it for dlc to dlc model like in d1, the reason why the content is similar is because it’s designed to be in these timeframes as said before from them, you have to weigh what you actually want on that regard. If you don’t want seasonal slop or anything akin to that you’re just not gonna be seeing content for months at a time in exchange for better comet releases, if you want content all year round you need to understand that this is the framework they need to work around and that the biggest thing they can do is change how they ship it. It’s easy to pipe dream about what could be if they weren’t held down by time constraints and awful management of their financial situation; but unfortunately this is the reality of the industry and destiny is no real exception and in fact we’re probably on the luckier side compared to other live service games. Love your content nanokk but I think this is just a dead horse best left unbeaten for the time being
I don't fully agree. Bad content is bad content. Bad decisions are bad decisions. They deserve to be called out. I honestly would prefer if we just had the dlc structure, which is why I'm gonna release videos on the other Destiny dlcs, and call it there. I've pretty much already moved on
@@Nanokk_ Completely understandable to not be impressed by the stuff we got and a lot of ppl share the same sentiment, but I think under analytical lens they’ve improved on a lot and took a lot of the feedback we’ve given over the years and applied it to the content we get despite how disposable it has to be. Personally I think echoes is fine, but I never wanted a seasonal model to begin with and like you I want them to just return to a less live service focused approach. Shit like the enigma protocol is indicative of like everything I find lame as fuck in a season all wrapped up in one splicer synth jerkoff and it’s so hard to sit through, you can tell how much of an afterthought it was and how it was put there to just meet a quota and it’s just wasted resources and dev time. All of that needs to take a back seat and they need to invest it in their bigger releases that are designed to make players happy but not keep them chained forever
We could deadass get a final shape expansion after expansion consistently if the game wasn’t marketed to keep you all year round and instead gave the devs and players time to breathe
Even if people got their hopes up higher than we should've, it's still not good. The issue is the monotony of the seasonal model, not the delivery. I don't care if we are getting all of the act in 1 week if it's still the awful seasonal content we've always had. There's only ever like 2 or 3 good moments in a sea of fetch quests. That's one of the reasons Final Shape was so good. It wasn't a bunch of fetch quests. You were linearly working through the pale heart until you reached the witness
There is only so much they can do with the Destiny 2 formula. I didn't play for several years and then came back 3 months ago - lots to see and do initially, then I quit two weeks ago, leaving a variety of elements untouched. For me, I just have to remain conscious that the actual premise of the game is to get us to grind out the same events / levels forever chasing the perfect build. That "perfect build" doesn't actually exist, as they keep tweaking the meta and nerfing kit. That's the game - that's the hook, and that's why we feel compelled to grind away our lives. It's a great game to play - it feels good - it looks good, but it isn't healthy (imo) to be fixated on one video game. They have a core team in place still to design what would probably be the greatest fps to date - on all platforms. But the live service model has to go ... in my view. Without the lure of excellent single player or co-op focused story missions to explore, I have little interest in spending money & time on a perpetual grind. I own the current "Episode" but dropped out just after 3 began - I lost interest. But if anybody else loves the game and doesn't mind the grind, I understand.
This season-sorry, episode, it's Gays vs Lesbians, and the Lesbians are the bad guys because of a controlling relationship and domestic violence, while the gay characters are only violent towards people it's socially acceptable to be violent towards, like all the vex that Maya gave free will to, yeah, all the vex we kill aren't just part of a hive mind anymore, they're individuals, so it's like killing eliksni.
Wah wah I need high stakes 24/7 what’s that you just killed what is essentially a god. Imagine not liking giving characters their own plot lines outside of military operations
I never said I need high stakes all the time. I said why are we focusing on pointless reality TV level drama instead of facing the threat in front of us? It's poor writing. You can give characters a personality without mellow drama
They literally gave her the power to override free will over anyone, even guardians yet all the dialogue is about how she's evil, not for enforcing her will on everyone to try and bring back the golden age, but for abusing simulated copies of her wife.
everyone has talked about it enough. the new episodic model offers everyone the opportunity to play calmly and without fomo. I'm sorry for elitists and content devourers, but we needed a sigh of relief.
Slowing down fomo is really nice, and I like challenges leveling up your battlepass really fast. But what is all this about elitists? How do they effect you?
How? The content will almost certainly disappear after a year the same as always, so the exact same fomo. Plus a year isn't even that bad to get everything a season has to offer. The problem is, the stuff you get is just slop that no one cares to get.
No way you're calling people morons when you can't click a holoprojector for lore and then complain you can't keep up with the story, even going as so far to call them "nerds". You need to put more positivity into the way you perceive the general public when talking about negative topics, for if you don't it just comes off as you are locked into your negativity despite being a generally positive person. The way that I perceived it, it seems as if you are unhappy with your own life, your own time investments into the game. If that is the case go play another game, if you are this wrapped up in destiny's negativity. I agree its not the greatest in the world but when you are talking negative about something for 15 minutes, you may just want to step away from it. You are not employed by bungie, you are not top 1%, you are a casual, where you get off calling other people idiots is beyond me. If you enjoy the game, enjoy the game. Come off with legitimate criticism, which a lot of this is, however you falling into the incessant negativity shows why nobody outside of the Destiny community, actually enjoys what we have to say. Long story short, you're a yapper. I wish you nothing but the utmost success in whatever endeavors you choose to pursue, have a wonderful day.
@@Nanokk_ my thoughts on your video big homie, the fact that you had nothing to say in response other than what you have speaks volumes. Enjoy your afternoon brother 🙏🏿

This episode combined with Bungie falling apart at the seams was what finally convinced my friend who's played for over 10000 hours since D1 to finally put it down
@@SilverRath21 I'm in the same boat as your friend, it's rough man
@Nanokk_ I'm kinda glad it was never my main game, so it was easier for me to let go, but I'm praying they get their act together (no pun intended)
Also I agree, warlock helm is b*tchin idk why everyone hates it
The sad part is I've seen so many people disregard the Sain and Osiris crap by calling those who dislike them being the center of attention (again) homophobic.
@chelsthegameruiner8669 ngl a divorce storyline would be really funny
It's just crazy that that's the thing he has an existential crisis about, being from a simulation, but that still makes no sense, the vex supposedly can't simulate paracausality, yet he has his light and his ghost, why can't osiris just go back and get a Sagira from the infinite forest too?
Came for destiny 2, stayed for the smt 3 soundtrack.
You should check out my SMT 3 remastered video
Also, the Pale Heart and Echoes Episode 1 weapons are super fun.
@@DioStandProud Absolutely. I can't tell you how much fun I'm having with The Call and Aberrant Action. Ergo Sum has also been a nice surprise with the right roll.
I just like gunplay alot choir of one is like my new signature weapon, so hopefully, if D2 survives the marathon tape worm, it can be my weapon for more months or years
This is the biggest cope I’ve ever seen.
@@BigChungus-gz9vw mf like you are so annoying 😑
so real on the trace rifle part, Chronophage is just Hollow Denial but better, wish we got something unique, maybe a new trace rifle frame.
I've been legit having more fun playing games I never touched on my DS over Destiny 2
@@Nanokk_ Same here, coming back to this after the mobile game announcement genuinely made me feel like they just shit on my mouth, pushed me down a stair and shot my whole family in front of me, this sucks man, its not a game death, its a game massacre.
Dawg is that nocturne music at the beginning of the video?
@Poor_boli yes it is, throughout the whole video
@@Nanokk_ literally subbing, did you play vengeance yet?
@Poor_boli I might be playing it and I also might be working on a video about it
@@Nanokk_ I will be there no matter what, the original was a big letdown for me especially after smt 4
@Poor_boli I pre-ordered the steel book, played 10 hours, and never touched it again. I was pissed.
(Also btw I have a video about the smt nocturne remaster give it a look!)
When do the deluxe dlc buyers get the next free loot delivery? I thought it would come during the start of episode.
@TimoNaaro honestly no idea, I only bought the expansion and that's it, you should get it next season though from what I remember last year
Bungie: “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”
Everything is broken always.. they constantly breaking their own game every update and most of the time they aren’t fixing it even if it is broken
@@cnic5225 for real, like some of the exotics have been completely broken missing a whole perk since final shape came out and still haven’t been fixed
Oh dude. The bugs.
This game has got some deeply rooted codebase problems.
You were linearly working through the pale heart until you reached the witness
no we actually don't hope this helped
I’m just waiting for the dungeons I don’t play seasonal shit.
Remeber a time when everyone ever wasnt gay? Pembridge farms remebers
They literally gave her the power to override free will over anyone, even guardians yet all the dialogue is about how she's evil, not for enforcing her will on everyone to try and bring back the golden age, but for abusing simulated copies of her wife.
you should talk about concord
How dare you criticize the indie company! You should give them all your money without asking questions!!
I ❤ Nanokk
Yes it’s boring, fortunately there are enough things to build on three characters I find my own fun
everyone has talked about it enough. the new episodic model offers everyone the opportunity to play calmly and without fomo. I'm sorry for elitists and content devourers, but we needed a sigh of relief.
Slowing down fomo is really nice, and I like challenges leveling up your battlepass really fast. But what is all this about elitists? How do they effect you?
I dont think ive ever seen anyone say that Destiny needs more locked content.

He wasn't talking about holoprojector lore (which sucks BTW. I hate just having lore dumped on me through a character talking) he was talking about the veil containment missions that no one who wasn't told about them by a UA-camr did.
