My parents are turning 65 this coming year, so I'm trying to educate myself on Medicare to make sure they make the right decision. This is definitely an interesting (and uncommon) take. Thanks for the breakdown.

It's popular because it's free, wait till you need to use it. Avoid it like the plague. If finances are an issue choose HDG. For the cost of Cable every month you get the benefits of traditional Medicare. No networks, pre-approvals, coverage that travels with you with only a 2800 limit vs 6000 vs a typical (dis) advantage plan.

We don’t wish to be offensive, but we respectfully disagree.
Medicare advantage is not right for everyone, but generally those who choose it have high satisfaction. In fact, Medicare Advantage satisfaction is almost 100 points higher than the employer health insurance most people had before retiring. (see attached survey results.)

Also, the cost matters to a lot of people. Most seniors are living on fixed incomes and cable is already a luxury. Not everyone can afford one, let alone two, cable bills.
The High Deductible Plan G (HDG) can be a good option for people in the middle, but keep in mind, you also need to pay monthly for a PDP that covers your medications. When you use the plan, you will have Part A and Part B deductibles as well as 20% Part B coinsurance until you spend $2,800. So, having a HDG is much more expensive than just the monthly premium.
As we always say, the best answer is the one that makes the most sense for the individual person. That’s why we remain unbiased against all Medicare plans, including Medicare Advantage and the High Deductible Plan G. We educate people about the pros and cons of all options and help them make the best decision for their lives.

@@MyPlanFitYou've seen in the news hospitals dropping advantage plans for their their reluctance to pay. And with the commission that many agents make with advantage plans, I understand your defense of them. If something major happens, you're going to want traditional Medicare with a supplement. Not having to worry if your oncologist is in network. And $2,800 plus your premium is still going to be cheaper than a $6,000 limit in many cases.

@@ChrisSadowski-pp1np You are correct, my doctor had to fight with my advantage plan for 3 weeks to get Hyperbaric Oxygen treatments approved before my surgery 4 years ago. My current situation in Florida, Original Medicare plus $54.00 month High Deductible plan G and a Wellcare Part D $0.00 premium and my two generic drugs that I take $0.00. On an Advantage Plan doctors can be in in network in January, gone by April and back in network in November, I know, first hand experience.
