How The London Mafia Actually Works | Former London Gang Boss Stephen Gillen

  • In this episode, we sit down with reformed career criminal Stephen Gillen, once a feared gang boss in London’s east end, Gillen spent the first nine years of his life in Belfast, after moving from London. Raised by his auntie during the height of the Troubles in the late 70s, Gillen, unfortunately, saw a young man shot right in front of him. The experience was more harrowing as the young man called for his mum while blood bubbled from his dying lips. What followed was a life of organized crime and time served at her majesty’s pleasure. Imprisoned in a high-security special unit reserved for dangerous inmates, Gillen served alongside notorious armed robber Charles Bronson in the cell next door who the British press dubbed the "Most violent prisoner in Britain"
Stay tuned to learn exactly how he did.

Good interview ! No interruptions, the man can speak his mind. Love how he talks about the shit list and how he seems drawn to look at the bad things about his self or others and work with that. Turning weakness into strength is something that always spoke to me. Tried this many times, not always with success but when you do succeed, it really makes your life better plus : you have a strength where once you had a weakness.

The interviewer adopted what is called 'the turtle position' with his head tucked in, and moved his legs constantly as though he wanted to go to the toilet.
A very inexperienced interviewer against a man that killed and maimed people for a living, because he had a rough childhood.
The lavish surroundings, a book and possibly a movie must surely prove. Crime doesn't pay!

I'm curious as to whether the person shot in Belfast was a British soldier or a republican? The reason I mention it is because I was told about a young British soldier who was shot, in a republican area, and an old lady came out from her house to help him as much as she could because she didn't look at that young man as an enemy, but as a fellow human being in need of help. Unfortunately, a couple of days later a group of republican paramilitaries burst into her house, took her away at gunpoint and she was never heard from again, she became one of the "disappeared" of the troubles, just for being a kind hearted person. That young man he talked about could be the same wounded soldier.

Watch Peter Taylor’s documentaries on N Ireland.
He made one on the Loyalists, one on the Republicans and one on the British Army during the troubles.
All are a v interesting watch and show the actions of all sides as well as covering how the British government was talking behind the scenes with the IRA from the early seventies Ted Heath government and through the eighties when Maggie was saying the government wouldn’t talk to the ‘men of violence’.
A lot of what went on in the period is still not publicly known and won’t be for a long time.

London doesn't have a "Mafia", "Mafia" is a term once used by the American-Italian organised crime syndicate with origins in Italy and Sicily. It is jnot the real name, we ( sicilians ) try to avoid the word mafia. The mafiosi themselves avoid it. Once out you will notice, they suddenly speak of mafia. And yes, the americans are connected with the italians, but not how do you think. Every Capo has a unit like a terror cell. The soldier is responsible to his capo and only to him. All the Capos of a certain area chose someone who does represent them. Thas the Ripresentante, here the called Boss, but also heard the italian word, from sammy and from michael too in their podcasts. The capos can vote for another Boss if they are not good with him. And thats all, that commission thing is just some lose set of rules. Every Family is an empire for itself. Gambino Family was very tied with Inzerillo Clan of Palermo for example. Together ( Gambino-Inzerillo syndycat ) they were the pizza connection.
Many of them fled to new york after losing against riina in sicily, and instantly got members of Gambino Family, somes becoming capo instantly, like john gambino. They even held one time the international Commission in Palermo. THe new york bosses met with them of palermo. And one time Sammy Gravano lied, if made in Italy you dont have to be another time made, beside an extra prove of loyalty to new capo, also to show now to be member of exlicetly this family. The are a lot sicilians only made in italy, who became capos in usa. And all these scumbags are fucking parasatical mafiosi
