    I played one of these (also blue) for 10 minutes earlier at my favorite music store, and I had them hold it for me while I thought about it overnight. It plays really nice and I had a similar reaction to hearing how hot the pickups are. It sounds amazing through a tube screamer. You've helped seal the deal with your review and I'll be picking mine up first thing after work tomorrow!

    I just read up on this guitar today . I go to UA-cam and there you are doing a demo and review. I like this axe especially for the price and after watching you it seems to be quality built. I was skeptical about the pickups but you fixed that . Excellent job on this video. Thanks for sharing. BTW I subscribed to your channel. Thanks again. ✌️

  • @davidharding200
    @davidharding200 2 роки тому +4

    I have one but in gold. Brilliant guitar. Firstly, the build quality is off the charts. I can not find a fault with the fit and finish. The best example of that is the point at which the black head stock face and the natural wood side meet. It’s the equivalent of a Les paul top and sides. They can’t get it right at 8-9 times the price of this guitar. Everything else is flawless. If this was a us made ultra no one would blink an eye at the quality relative to price.
    The sound is phenomenal. I’ve never had any interest in Jaguars but I picked one up because of the price and just love it.
    Those pickups are stunning and when the sales guy said to me ‘atomic’ I thought ‘metal and not for me’ but as you’ve shown that’s not it at all.
    This guitar has leap frogged so my many other guitars in my collection (15 and counting) to be amongst the top 3 alongside my 52 reissue Tele and ...
    In 2021 there’s no need to be spending big money on high end Fenders. The high end Squiers (not so much the bottom end) are just amazing- and you can have 2-4 for the same money so you get to experience models like a Jaguar that you otherwise might not have.

      I think you may be getting Series / Parallel mixed up with In Phase / Out of Phase. Two Humbuckers Out of Phase gives a sort of funky slightly lower output "cocked wah" quacky type tone. What this guitar has is a Series / Parallel switch which switches the individual coils within each pickup. Putting both coils in Parallel offers a lower output single coil-esque tone without all the hum and buzz you get from just shorting one coil completely out like the Coil Split switch does. It's actually really cool this guitar gives you BOTH options so you can choose whichever you prefer! 👍

Not saying a Jag sounds like a strat of that thi sounds like a LP but you take a single coils guitar and compare it to a hum equipped guitar and you should expect they would be quite different. I have a traditional mustang and had an HH mustang. Gonna be the same difference, the twang and snap from a traditional mustang doesn't match the power and drive ofnthrnhum equipped version. The switching will be totally different with bass cut switching on a regular jag, the rhythm circuit of a regular jag. They are just completely different guitars. @jackgraffiti9815 3 роки тому

That is why as Bradford said, it is a totally different beast.
      I couldn't get a Jag sound out of it, but i wasn't looking for a jag sound.
      If you put P90s, you could get a sound (IMO) closer to a J Mascis which i tried and didn't buy just becuause i found the neck too thick for my small hands.

    Hi mate if I buy one can I change pickguard with a Jaguar one? And can I put a jazzmaster bridge without making holes in your opinion?

    • @josuesorto3453
      @josuesorto3453 Рік тому

      I don’t have this guitar yet but I have answers.
      So for the pickguard, you’d have to compare the layouts, or you can order a custom pickguard for this guitar. And for the bridge, it’s not impossible, but you’d have to fill the holes and redrill them. And it’s not very worth it since it doesn’t have a trem, and the those bridges don’t go to 12” radius.

    When I look at the neck info, it say 22 frets not 24. Am I missing something here, is there another one in same color that has 24 frets?

    • @ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear
      @ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear  3 роки тому

      22 frets. 24 inch scale length. "Scale length" is the distance of the string termination points, from the nut, to the saddle.

      Ops my bad, thank you for your answer. Are you happy / satisfied with your new blue guitar?

    My high e and b string is dead and/ or tinny on the first fret. It won't ring at all. I think the 2nd fret is too high. I got it from the factory like this.

    I really would love if they did this guitar with the one-piece maple neck like they did with the Strat in this series. Or maybe an ebony fretboard. I'm just not into the light brown.
    How does the Indian Laurel feel compared to other fretboards?

    • @MrDream-zm1pw
      @MrDream-zm1pw 3 роки тому

      Not sure about this guitar but I have a Indian laurel j mascis Jazzmaster and it feels Great just like rosewood but more streaky. You can darken it by adding f one oil and this product called guitar honey

    • @RoachDoggJr2112
      @RoachDoggJr2112 2 роки тому

      Indian Laurel feels borderline indistinguishable from rosewood when you're playing it. If you want to darken up the fretboard, get some Music Nomad F-One oil. It'll make the Indian Laurel darken up very nicely, practically indistinguishable from rosewood at that point.

    Hi, I like your videos but your voice is much lower in sound than your guitar. So when we watch your videos we have to keep lowering and raising the volume. Please watch this video closely and you'll see it's a pain to keep doing that. Plus I miss what you say. I wouldn't care so much, but you're one of the better demo guys and you seem to care about the same things on guitar that I do, and many people do. Keep up the great work.

    Strange, I would expect series to be louder, being the output of one pickup going through the second.

    I would like to know what is the difference between Series and Parallel. Its meaning and how affects sound. Great video and thank you.

    • @DonTizzoo
      @DonTizzoo 2 роки тому

      The series mode is the "classic" humbucker setting, louder, with a more present mid-range and more compressed. The parallel mode sounds thinner, more dynamic, with a little more twang; I would describe it as somewhere between a humbucker and a single coil sound. I only use parallel when playing clean, where it sounds much brighter than the series option.

      I like the Revstar better. But they are not really comparable. Completely different in all area's.

    Great stuff...but I wish Fender would have offered a few more color options...already having a goldtop LP....I really don't want another gold-ish guitar and I'm sorry but that blue is hideous

    • @trevinbracken2889
      @trevinbracken2889 3 роки тому

      That's exactly why I got the gold. I'm a Fender guy and I have my 2 tone vintera modified Strat, silverburst Tele, 3 tone sunburst distressed HSS strat and Sonic blue. I love gold tops but hate playing LPs and sgs. So I got the gold. The goods actually beautiful IRL.
