Frequently Asked Questions:
😇 How old are you? 22
📝 What are you studying? I just finished studying English Literature at the University of Exeter. But we are students for life, and I hope that I will continue learning even though I am out of structured education.
📚What are your favourite books? • 200 book recommendatio...
📝 Have you written a book? My life goal is to be a published author and make a living from writing and I am using this year to gain experience, build up a portfolio and work on a book with my agent. I have just finished the final draft of that book, as you can see in this video. I did self-publish a book about bullying when I was seventeen which is available on Amazon (amzn.to/3mdJKLm), but I'm slightly embarrassed by it now!
🎃 Do you have merch? I don't have merch in the traditional sense (I can't imagine selling something with my face or name on haha!), but I do have a stationery company where I sell planners for students. These are all designed with students in mind and follow models which I've used when planning my studying. Our products are printed in pastel colours on recycled paper: bit.ly/3wgsR85

I have been out academics for a couple of years now, and I'm reading a lot of comments about how strange it is and how it can be hard to suddenly feel "lost", when transitioning from uni to your next phase in life.
I wanted to share my experience to tell you that YES, it gets better, even if you feel like nothing is waiting for you, that no matter how much effort you put in job searchig (or whatever you're trying to do), you'll not find something to do, and even if you think that it won't get better, trust me, it will. Sometimes you'll have to prioritize change over confort, and maybe even try something out that is not what you always wanted to do, but this does not mean you'll give up on your dreams. Life is a constant transition phase, and this is just another (tall) step to walk.
Take this from a physicist that now is happy designing trains, keep trying
Thank you so much for sharing this, Valeria. I know that I certainly feel lost right now -- and I know that *so* many other graduates are feeling the same. This is such a comforting thing to read x
Thank you so much!! Definitely needed to hear this
I'm starting my PhD in a different country. Your videos have always been a great source of information for me. Esp when I was finishing my Master's thesis in 2019. Thank you, Ruby. All the best!❤
I needed this 😊
Thank you. Your words are comforting. I'm also a post-graduate and everything you said was on point that it made me cry. I'll hold on to the sentence that " things will get better". I'm hoping for everyone here genuine happiness wherever they are.
as a senior in uni I really like seeing post grad life updates, helps me imagine life after next year
So true ❤
As someone who has also recently graduated, I really appreciated this video and the focus on being at home. We need to normalise living at home after university!
Are you crazy. She has an income through youtube
Most people need to start getting jobs after University to live their daily life and start paying off loans.
It's not such a big thing to normalize!!
@@Avinathi You can live at home and work... Also getting a job isn't always that quick. A lot of people may need to live at home until they do manage to find a job, and even once they do it's completely ok to carry on living at home.
@@Avinathi you must be American 😅 living at home after college is pretty normal in most countries.
@@inesfernandes5486 we have loans in the UK
@@Avinathi are YOU crazy? Lol where I’m from most people has paid their university fees in full BEFORE they’ve graduated. We do stay at home… simply because moving out is incredibly expensive in my area and most first jobs after graduation just don’t pay high enough. Staying at home for a bit longer is the clever thing to do: save to purchase a home, instead of wasting most income in a rental home. I understand where your comment comes from, but do not assume that in all places the things go as they do where you are from. And yes, Ruby is staying at home apparently doing “nothing” in the sense that she’s neither studying nor working… but as you’ve pointed out she’s got an income though youtube and is also working towards publishing a book etc.
i'm also post grad right now and everything feels so dull. i'm curious to see how you handle it! i recently had a job interview for a job that isn't related to my field of studies so maybe that's why i've been feeling down. let's hope for a bright future for all us graduates 🤞
Be patient, better things are on the way. No need to force them to come. An option would be to do something useful and beautiful in the meantime, useful for others and beautiful for your heart. Sometimes volunteering or internships (even unpaid) can bring unexpected opportunities. Plus, any job can be taken temporarily just to experience the discipline of going to work, even if it is not yet the best and our domain :) Wish you all the best!
I dream of being post grad too. Currently I’m studying law and it feels very heavy and stressful. It’s interesting too, but lots of it takes so much energy because the pace is very fast. Being post grad is a privilege and being at uni. is also a privilege. Sometimes it help to think back too, that those things one dreamt of came true due to all the hard work put in.
I come from a place where uni graduates are pressured to go into the working world really quick, a place that values hyper-productivity and marketing your best self to the working world. As a senior, I've been feeling lots of pressure to enter this 'adult world', especially because my interests lie in a field that's not highly valued in my local business & tech-focused society (i.e., my interests lie in the social sciences, heritage and community). Watching this truly gave me comfort in reminding me to take the time to focus on my passions and what I truly believe in, and nurture it at my own pace (of course, while also adequately providing for myself materially in any way I can).
From someone truly tired of chasing (academic) achievements and titles, largely disillusioned from my truly what makes me happy, thank you so much for this video Ruby!
I’m doing my masters now after working in my field for seven years. It’s really strange to be unemployed again and live the student life! Life is full of changes. Learning to adjust to change and accept change gives you more opportunities in life honestly.
can you not work while doing your masters? how do you pay for rent food etc,
Yesss! I love a good morning routine! It really sets the tone for the day and gives you the boost of positivity you need 💜 your commitment to self love is unmatched and I’m definitely taking notes!
I've never commented on your videos before, have always enjoyed how cosy and bookish they are but I LOVE that you're reading the Bible for 10 minutes every day! 😍
That’s amazing. I also like to study philosophy, currently Marcus Aurelius’ Meditations, and the Bible every morning followed by a little foreign language study.
Learning a little late that it is necessary to train not only your body and your intellect but also your moral principles. Setting aside time in the morning to bring your ethics to the forefront of your consciousness helps avoid unhelpful “shoot from the hip” responses to the challenges of the day ahead.
I must reserve my major reading for the evening.
Thanks for all your excellent videos. I must be on the right track!
I just stopped watching your videos because now I am working. Earlier when I was studying I loved your videos then I thought now I don’t have so much to study & I took this bad decision ofc. Today I watch this & it felt that I found myself again watching your video. Simple, organised, loving the little things & gratitude 🙏🏽 Thank you so much for making these videos it’s just so calming & feels so peaceful. Love you Ruby 🫶🏻
I also happen to be reading the Secret History right now and would love to eventually hear your thoughts on it. You always have such great book commentary 📖😊
Omg Ruby I really still cannot believe you graduated, I have been watching your videos from the start!
I recently "discovered" you here, and everything I've seen so far has been lovely. Speaking as a retired person with limited means living in a small city in the USA, and still wanting to learn, I have been signing up for lots of online events through Eventbrite. The wide variety of online programs I can participate in has been such a wonderful addition to my life! I always expected to spend my retirement in learning things - and thought I would be mostly availing continuing education classes and libraries to do so. And while I still enjoy going to libraries, my number one favorite learning experience is enjoying all the different programs through Eventbrite. I'm learning so much history - particularly UK history, which is a favorite of mine. So many of the programs steers my deep-dive research online and library books... Since you want to be a writer, I'm sure you will be a lifelong reader/researcher/learner - enjoy! 🙂
i really like your productive vlogs. They make me feel motivated to be productive in my days instead of staying on my phone and laptop all the time.I really like the idea of making habits to do everyday! It would be so cool if you did a day in the life in autumn. I just love the coziness vibe you give.I have watched you since 2020 and recently started watching you again this year and has made me want to be so productive.I definitely agree with that having a good morning sets you up for a good day!
Your morning looks so relaxing
I try to be intentional with my morning routine, but I work full time and don't have this kind of time in the AM.
I’m just obsessed( in a good way) with your routine videos!! love from Brasil 🇧🇷💛💛
Thanks for another great video, Ruby!
I haven't been a student in many years, but I still enjoy learning and seek out learning opportunities, especially those related to classic literature, archeology, gardens, and architecture.
I love these peeks into life in your beautiful home and surrounding countryside. I wish I had a boiling water tap like you do, it would make my daily tea-making so much more convenient! And I, too, prefer a *mostly* structured day and am most content and relaxed when I feel organized and productive.
Take your time in deciding your future path. And remember, nothing is written in stone. One can always change paths further down the road. 🙂
Love the background music, it makes the whole video so moody and autumny (: Always a joy to watch (even in the evening)
Bruh. I've been watching your channel since you were in secondary and now you're a graduate. Time really does fly.
Your video has come at a great time for me. I am just about to begin my degree at Oxford University and feel that creating healthy routines will be invaluable. Thank you x
This is so exciting! Good luck with your degree!
@@RubyGranger8 Thank you so much. Your revision tips definitely helped me get to this point! x
I finished my degree this July and this kind of routines just makes me so happy and inspire me to make my mornings special. Still processing that I'm "out" of university life but slowly getting used to new habits. Thank you so much Ruby for your beautiful videos🤍 (sorry if this comment doesn't makes sense, I'm not used to write in english)
I don’t normally watch videos like this, but every now and then I’ll give one of Ruby’s a watch - love this! So wholesome. And awesome to see you’re still “at it” even now you’ve finished uni. Despite this no longer being an academic morning routine, I feel strangely motivated to study 😅
I did a postgrad last year however it was very vocational on placement so to me it seemed like work more than uni. However when I left my undergrad 5 years ago, I think it took me at least a year to adjust fully (all my uni friends moved away too). If you're going through it now, speak to your friends/family
you are so pretty💕💕 plus the fall vibes are immaculate
I really like the editing of this video. We can feel the calm and slow pace of your morning. The illustrations for the different steps of your morning routine were so cute and added so much to the video. I can't wait to watch your future videos as a graduate student :D xx
The editing of this video made me so calm!🌾 I also see the benefit of writing in the morning, not only because it's fun to do, but also because it requires your mind to be in the moment, to transform your thoughts into words on paper. It's really soothing for the soul I've noticed! Oh and I really liked the Swan Lake music halfway through the video :) 🦢
Yes. Ruby Granger is so poetic. Being here is always such a spiritual experience. May God bless her and you.
I always find comfort here ♥️
@@deepuism2401 definitely! She has such a beautiful point of view. I’m from Manchester :) you?
@@deepuism2401 nice! And I actually go to university and study English literature and creative writing :)
She’s so SWEET!
Oh its so nice . When I was your Age I still was motivated the same. 20 Years later stressful Work life changed all my motivation.
I love how this is such a calm, relaxed video of your morning and then there is the most dramatic scene of Swan Lake ever blasting in the background 😄
Can you please do a video about your writing process? How to start a story/book? ... Also what are your goals as a writer? Do you have a certain genre you want to get published in?
Your videos are always such a lovely reset for me mentally when I am feeling down. It makes me feel centered and calm. I am so grateful! ❤
This means so much to know xx
I like what you say about setting the tone for the day! I read the Bible every morning and it makes all the difference for my day. It's so cool that you're reading it, and the story of Joseph is one of my favourites. The books of the Old Testament are not in chronological order, so sometimes it's hard to keep up with the timing in history!
Amen.
Honestly, I really appreciate that you have kept true to your channel and haven't changed at all with more subscribers. That's why I really dont like watching people with lots of subs cause they get so fake. Thanks for being you!
I like the idea of starting your day with the things you like and want to do. I’m generally horrible with routines and habits, and weekdays tend to get away from me what with a full-time job and chores… But! I recently started using Habitica, and while all my habits are the bare minimum version of themselves (”set the timer for 5 min and clean something” lol), I’m sort of addicted to ticking things off. So I’ve been reading fiction (”at least one page” turns into 50 pages some days, and when I don’t have time it’s still one page) and reading a poem every day (also copying the poems in a notebook just to practice my longhand). This morning I got bold and added ”watch a lecture on something and take notes” to my daily repertoire. I’m a little apprehensive, but also confident that the powers of gamification will see me through 😂
Further note in honor of Miss Ruby Granger : Ruby, your morning schedule surpasses my abilities so easily that fatigue in sensation also seems onerous to feel. And it certainly goes without a second saying from my end that I will have a feast if I ever ever and ever succeed in following up with merely your matutinal routine for one complete day! You will be my special guest of the evening.
I was watching your videos when u posted this ! Your videos are really a comfort place for me , ruby hope u become one of the best writers of our generation and I'll be able to say proudly that I knew her before she became famous (and maybe I will become a writer too and we can meet haha) .
am I the only one who went ??!!! when Ruby just casually walked outside with her (indoor) slippers??
I'm reading The Midnight Library thanks to you and I love it!
your vibe is so magical
Love this cozy morning routine, Ruby 🥰
I hope u have a productive week ahead Ruby ❤️
Love it. I also love my morning routines. But today I was slacking it a bit. But now I watched your video I am inspired again. Thanks for making these video’s. I love to watch ❤
I'm so pleased to hear that! Thank you!
5:44 yes indeed how you start your day and with which attitude/mindset you start it with matters, it’ll set the majority of the day for you
Top tip - soak a porridge pot or bowl in cold water. The hot water recooks the porridge and makes it stick to the sides
Lovely video 😊
I love these videos! I wish I knew the timeline or had timestamps so I could kind of emulate this routine. Mornings are something I'm trying to get in control of right now.
I have been watching a lot of your videos and they have kept me motivated at the start of my final year at uni!
I really have to pee but I'm in the train so I have to hold it for few more minutes. But this video is making me so calm and helps a lot to struggle through. Thanks!
this comment is pure gold
Did you make it?
@@thedrunkenelf YES!:D
You’re such a kindred spirit Ruby!! 🍁🍂✨
Wow your such a productive person! Inspired me to write stories! Love you
Hi, Ruby! Enjoyed the video. I was thinking, while watching your autumn essentials video, I would make a suggestion for future videos. Since you’re finished with university, and you’re writing, maybe you could sometime do a video on writing tips. And/or tips on staying motivated or making time to write.
Yes! This is such a good idea! I’ve been thinking about making more writing content 😊💛
Loved this ruby!!! Such a cozy and peaceful video, thank you for sharing☺️
Oh my gosh, I am reading The Secret History too! It's crazy how many people I have seen reading it since it's fall!
My morning centering routine is comprised of making my bed as soon as I get up, meditating for 20 minutes(I like to do this first thing as I’m very irritable in the morning).
I follow this up with 15 minutes of exercise. I used to do half an hour but found myself needing a nap an hour or so afterwards. I set out a thermos with ice water the night before so I don’t have to walk all the way to my fridge.
I conclude with a 5 minute cold Shower that I batch with vocal exercises for public speaking.
After this I reward myself with coffee and checking my email.
In Summary:
-Make Bed (2 minutes)
-Meditation (20 minutes)
-Fitness Routine (15 minutes)
-Cold Shower + Vocal Warmup(5 minutes)
Total: ~45 minutes
LOL vocal warmup what a dweeb
How so?
It’s really improved my voice for the purposes of podcasting and general communication.
Are you having a bad day or something?
What a great idea to use spiced tea in your oatmeal! Mentally filing that away to try some time.
For washing dishes: Dawn Power Wash changed my life recently. You don't have to soak dishes anymore! I love it
Your parents have a beautiful classic interior taste. Fantastic house.
Love this new style of editing ruby x 🌷💐
Love you Ruby ♥️✨☕️📚🍁
Love the Bible project you've got going! I've been meaning to read it, too, for basically the same reason as you (all those delicious insights on the Western canon). It would be great to see you reflect on this project at some stage in the future, if it's a video you'd like to make!
i love to watch you as well as to listen to you. I love your calm voice.
Please talk in your videos.
Absolutely love The Secret History. Perfect book to read in the morning ❤❤❤
Finally a new morning routine video!! ❤️❤️❤️
I love this Ruby you are absolutely amazing and I wish you all the best
Love the quality of the video !!!
What lovely visual story telling. :)
Lovely as always!
You are such an inspiring personn. Thanks for giving us motivation to go on !
Ps : I'm actually The Man who Laughs by Victor Hugo and I'm really falling in love with his writing. I highly recommand it !
i can't wait to get the yearly planner!
In the morning I watch my favourite UA-camr channel and I drink tea or coffee
I don't know if you know this Ruby but the song that plays around 5:22 while you're making your porridge is from the 1931 movie classic Dracula with Bela Lugosi. Very appropriate for the upcoming Halloween holiday. I love spending time with my mom watching the old horror movie classics such as Dracula, Frankenstein, and the Wolf Man. Oh and the original Mummy with Boris Karloff
The music is the so-called Swan Theme from the ballet Swan Lake by Tchaikovsky.
@@marianpochyly Cool! My grandmother loved that ballet but sadly I could never get into it. I do know from taking Film History that many of the class works like the one you mentioned were used in Horror Classic films because of their sometimes haunting melodies. It's great to see how music and film can intertwine sometimes
@@RogueMustangMare Your grandmother was obviously a lady of refined taste, thumbs up! By the way, the melody from the beginning of Ruby´s video is the so-called Flight of the Bumblebee from the opera The Tale of Tsar Saltan by Rimsky-Korsakov. Ruby seems to be fond of Russian classical music.
omg I LOVE The Secret History!!
I love all your videos 👍💙
Ruby!! This video is just what I needed to inspire me as I need to wake up super early tomorrow! Where did the bunny slippers and Hedwig water bottle gooo 😢 Amazing video as always!
Ruby, this video was beautiful! I love the way how you are filming you’re routines! Do you use any filters because it looks soooo cozy! Greetings from Germany 💕✨
Thank you for the video 😊
Half the world dreams about living rubys life
I write in my journal in the morning. I tend to wake up grumpy and journaling makes that go away.
ruby you'd look lovely with shoulder length hair
agreed, it would really suit her
I remember when you would read when brushing your teeth, now you listen to music. Oh how times have changed
I've only recently started trying listening to classical music instead (in the last two-ish weeks) - I just wanted to try it out but I think I prefer reading!
My morning routine as a post graduate is opening my laptop and applying for jobs 😭
Hang in there. You got this!
What a fantastic video she just posted, wonder if she could give me some pointers on how to make my day go as straightforward as hers.
You are amazing in everything
Ruby I am in ore of you! Enough said x
Happy Autumn Ruby.
I'm from Argentina.
🍁🍂🍁🧡🤎😊
Love your routines 😍💖✨✨
What is that absolute magic of a dedicated tea water spout?!
One day I’ll be back here to say ‘Ruby, it WAS a productive week’ but so far I’ve achieved nothing even to this Monday night, the final one as a 26 year old woman!
I really hope you don't bash yourself for it
Whenever I see your daily routines I always can't help to think: do you have times when you are not mindFUL but do mindLESS things? It seems that you have back to back tasks 24/7, or rather you time yourself for everything.although I remember you saying you had a period of your life where you didn t know what to do with your future, so I imagine/wish that you had/have some spare time as well.
As much as I love your productivity ditl, it sometimes gives me anxiety lol
the secret history is my favourite book of all time!
I loved the video, but I couldn't help and notice that Ruby has definitely changed. She doesn't read whilst brushing her teeth, and also she didn't speak for the first half of the video ♡♡♡ Still Lusm Ruby
Will you do writing vlogs? 😊😊 I'd like to see several of them! And oh, Ruby: Don't rip out your gorgeous hair like this! 🥺🥺 I recommed to start at the bottom and then go upwards very, very slowly only when this part is already brushed out, move up. You have such beautiful hair!!
I appreciate that you’re reading the Bible. It is such an influential text on all of history, whether you believe it or not. Would love you hear your thoughts!
Listen, if my garden was Winnie The Pooh’s 100 acre woods, I’d be glad to have a gorgeous morning walk like this!
I don’t even have A garden.
PS in my next life I want to be PERFECT like RG!
I would like to watch a video about how to work and get things done when there are no deadlines for the next few months
Oh Ruby, part of the video with Flight of the bumblebee was nice, but the music choice is very questionable
I love these types of videos they are SO relaxing it really helps calm me. Also does anyone know where Ruby gets her mugs from they are so sweet looking and I really want one!?
I really enjoy this video
The bit of you mentioning that you wish to read through the Bible to be able to identify the stories in other writings is very interesting!
what a coincidence that ruby is reading the secret history and I just received mine in the mail 30 mins ago :)
