Thanks to you, I went back to college in my 30s and finished my bachelors degree. I kept watching your videos and felt inspired to finish a masters degree and then another one. I am now a PhD candidate, half way through the program. I hope you know you have changed lives with your channel. I am eternally grateful for the guidance. I am the first in my family to finish university.
You started in your 30s, like really? If it's true you are an Inspiration! I have a Bachelor degree but i want to go to college again and study something new, but i'm thinking i'm already 28, lol!
@@horrorzone476 Started in my mid 30s, completed my bachelors through testing, something called CLEP in the US (plus several courses). That took me 2 years. Then I did two masters degrees, an MFA (2 years) and an MA (1 year). I started a PhD this year and will finish in three to four years. Believe me, time will go by and you will be 30 with or without your degree. If I had believed it was too late, I would be 42 (my current age) without the degrees (which gave me a job I love). I simply love the fact that I rejected that idea and pursued my studies anyway. I am thankful to that 35 year old who valued herself enough to ignore the naysayers and the stigmas and simply went for it. You can do it, too. You are even younger. Believe me when I say that life is long and it is never too late!
She looks like she, truly, loves her life. Not an act for video, more like someone who appreciates every minute of every day and unfortunately, that is rare to see these days. Makes me love her videos in some special way.
I admit that I’m envious of Ruby because she is so young, happy and disciplined! Plus, she has a great place to live in the country with her parents, and she doesn’t seem to be in any hurry to leave. I am decades older than Ruby, and I did get a masters degree, but I only wish I had been much more like her in my childhood.
I'm currently unemployed and 42 due to some health issues. I just want to tell you that I've just been devouring novels and researching what ever I want. You've inspired me to feel like I can take the time for myself right now and enjoy what makes me feel fulfilled in this time in my life. Thank you for your videos. I feel like "being productive" has a different meaning to everyone. And I've found my definition of that by watching your videos just being present in the moment, learning, and doing what fulfills you. So glad you are here for me to watch. I absolutely enjoy your videos.
Same here, I lost my job two months ago because due to my health, I just couldn't cope with the physical demands of what I was doing. It's very difficult, but I'm trying to use this as a catalyst to finally follow my own heart and dreams, I'm reading more, researching, writing, and taking a class to learn a skill I've been interested in for several years. Much of this is thanks to the inspiration from Ruby's videos. I hope everyone in a similar situation, that your health can improve and that things get much better.
3:30 "The devil had bussines on her hand" that sentence captivated me! the ENTIRE paragraph is extraordinary, I can't wait to read the complete work :)
It’s actually a line from a well-known poem by Robert Burns. I love that Ruby is so well-read, the whole novel is sure to be rich with literary allusion like this and I can’t wait to read it! 🥰
Ruby your videos are inspirational and wonderful. Your videos have inspired me to English literature and History and I am loving it. Thank you for the motivation
Can I just say that the family home is so wonderfully cozy? The yard in the rain is gorgeous. Also, hycaniths are so fragrant and wonderful. I also love your Jellycat plushies.
The phonetics of that short paragraph of your book are incredible. As a person who’s first language isn’t english I always enjoy writing that sounds good and rolls down your tongue like warm tea. It’s just wonderful. Can’t wait to read that book you’re writing.
I just adore that you even say "please" when asking Google to stop the music. It's just one of those utterly unique things about you, you're way too precious for this world.
As a fellow rain enthusiast, I was so excited to see the notification for this video. It's been raining here, with a lovely temperature drop of nearly 10 degrees F, and I had just come in from enjoying it in my rocking chair on the back porch. The video did not disappoint. Thanks Ruby!
some people find it depressing and it affects their mental health. Everyone is different, just because you like something doesn't mean everyone should.
I agree that everyone's different. But for me as someone who's been struggling with depression for years, I love rain, it calms me listening to the sound while indoors, and when I'm outside it can sometimes even help me feel more alive. Just like the sun does. (obviously not always but sometimes) Too much cloudy, dark days is depressing tho. But rain by itself isn't to me. It can be kind of annoying how most people always complain about it tbh like rain always equals bad weather to people. I honestly don't agree, even when I have to go outside.
I completely agree- rain is so underrated!! It’s cozy when you’re inside, but also refreshing and I feel like it helps to reset and calm my mind when I walk out in it. I hope you’re having a great week Ruby!! 🥰
As you said yourself, it's hard to get a feeling from just a few sentences. Still, I sensed a heavy influence of your all time favourite English authors in the way your write, the language you use, how you express yourself. There's that sort of antique feeling to the words that never fails to spike curiosity.
Loved what you read out loud. Where was it from? Yes, walking in the rain... very pensive and refreshes you if you've been stagnated inside for hrs. Then home to a nice hot mug of tea w/ milk🤗
I don't know if this makes sense, but I'm rewatching all of Ruby's videos and when I compare her videos from 2 years ago, to now, I recognise how much she's grown and how I can notice that she truley loves her life. I guess, that Ruby is kind off my role model, because... come on
There’s a sense of sadness to your videos as of late, it might be all the rain, but the colours and the cold atmosphere too, you seem sad. It’s spring now and the days are full of light and colour in the UK, seeing the sun still up when I leave work gives me so much life. Sometimes your videos feel like a perpetual January.
Ahh such wholesome feel good content as always ❤ The best thing about Ruby's content is she really reinforces that even the simplest and unjustly overlooked things is life can be appreciated and romanticised! Also has anyone else noticed how polite she is to google when she speaks to it! Think it's such an understated but important thing for it means that our way of treating others doesn't slack. ❤❤❤
Dear Ruby, I just stumbled upon your channel, and I'm now determined to live a life like yours. For months now, I've been trying to figure out WHO I want to be. This is what I want for myself. I have found it. You make me want to move to Europe, own a cozy house in the countryside, cook, write my novel, and study Latin (which I'm doing as I watch this, haha)! These videos don't look like they're an act. They show (at least to me) that you love your life and yourself. THANK YOU for sharing your wonderful way of life with us, Ruby! And THANK YOU for helping me find who I want to be in this world! You radiate the mindset of the Good, the True, and the Beautiful. Much love, - a fellow rain enthusiast
"Brideshead revisited" is one of the best books in the world! I can also recommend the tv-series from )1981. I've seen the tv-series and read the book so many times and it never gets tiring! Much love to you from a chilly Sweden! 😍
I just wanted to comment that your videos always make my day 100x better. They are so aesthetic and when I'm watching them they encourage me to become more productive. Many people would find rainy days dull, but you always make everything exciting. Thank you so much! I would love if you could do more live content so we could interact with you more! That would be amazing. ❤
I love this video so much. I have watched it twice today and it’s very rainy where I am. For some reason, watching it just makes me think it’s such a beautiful day. Thank you for sharing pieces of your life ❤️
Wow, Ruby, you are just so inspiring person! I never wanted more to live in a British cottage, read books and walk in the rain! Thank you for doing this wonderful little movies!
Ruby can I just tell you how proud I am of you!! I've been watching your videos since forever and I absolutely love this space! Your videos are so calming , cosy and comforting. I saw your latest post about you getting into Oxford and I honestly cried out of happiness for you!! You deserve the best girl!! Lots of love !!
Thank you Ruby! This video speaks to my inclination towards overcast, rainy, chilly days. so few and far between here in Texas. We were blessed to travel in England in summer 2022 and i Loved our first few drizzly cloudy days in Bath. After our brutal dry summer my heart was yearning for the rainy mood.
It’s great you send hand written letters to friends. I used to have pen pals and loved receiving a letter but these days people communicate through emails, not quite the same. Good for you x
Everything about this video is so beautiful and calming, especially your walk in the rain. I absolutely love rain and particularly thunderstorms and although it's cosy being inside, I prefer to be out in the rain and feel it on my skin. As a child I would throw on a jacket and run outside as soon as it started raining, which is something I haven't done much lately. But you've inspired me to get back to taking rainy adventures. It just makes me so happy 🌧️🤍
I so agree i love rain too. Being outside or inside. 🥰 Hope you have a beautiful easter! I loved listening to you read some of your book! It sounds incredible😘
oh my stars Ruby I to love walking in the rain I love the smell & how it feels on my face When I cannot sleep at night I listen to the sounds of rain & when I read a good mystery book I listen to the sounds of rain & thunder ! Sometimes in the middle of summer when I read a summer book I listen to the sounds of the ocean waves with the seagulls! Have a lovely Easter Ruby !
such a lovely vlog! i found myself nodding along and wanting to comment on so much. just the rain + the whole weekend was truly perfect. makes me wish it were sunday morning already!
hey ruby!! i absolutely adore your videos and i was wandering if you could do a gap year advice video? especially since you are finishing yours and are off to oxford next year (congrats!!) I'm taking a year out next year myself and don't want to loose any writing/ studying skills and your advice has helped me so much over the years! i adore the rain too! lots of love
My great-great aunt used to say that if bubbles form at the surface of puddles, the rain's going to last a while. The rain in this vlog reminded me of that saying :)
Ruby, I can't express how much your videos give me hope, inspiration and motivation. Our taste in general are very similar and I was very tired and unmotivated earlier then watched this video. I immediately decided that I will start a nature journal. Thank you 💗💗 And since you bought Katherine Mansfield's Garden Party, I wanted to include one of my fav quotes from her letters 📜 I don’t know if you’ve read any of her letters, they’re really beautiful 🌼 “Flowers teach hope and patience. Flowers teach tenderness. Flowers teach futility and amazement. You know me, I am always willing to learn. Besides, it is spring. Here in northern Italy we have siccity and I don't even remember how it feels when theres like real rain 🌧️ (or snow)... We had a few thunderstorms last summer but overall it's been so dry the past 2 years, the lake I live by dropped by 2 meters and we are having fires 🔥🚒 thank you for bringing the feeling of the rain beck to me 🤍
So nice Ruby. Today in Melbourne it is cold. Rested in the warm. Have returned to reading the Bronte sisters. Your video inspired me so much. This trips make up for my lack of trips. I do home that you get good rest sometimes. I was sad about your hot cross buns.😊 Thank you so much.
Hello, I am from India 🇮🇳. Ruby you are doing so great. I love how you appreciate every moment of your life. I feel productive by watching your videos.I hope you read my comment❤
You are a very classic author indeed, you remind me when i start writing m'y children stories, i Stacy all the night writing until the early morning hours.
Ruby, that little bit that you read from your book was wonderful - made me very much want to read it when it comes out. Thank you for going outside of your comfort zone to share that with us :)
Hey Ruby! I was wondering if you could make a video where you talk about how you're able to balance work, UA-cam, writing and spending time on walks/reading/doing stuff you love? I'm currently struggling with fitting everything in my schedule without burning myself out on Tuesday and not doing anything the rest of the week... I've tried to set a schedule for myself but I find it very draining to consistently worry if I'm on track or not, and I usually go over time slots which doesn't help either.. I would be so grateful for your advice! Hope you're doing well 💛
Love your productivity every single video Ruby, you inspire me to keep writing my book too. Even though mine is for fun and never intended to be published, I still enjoy the feeling of getting your thoughts and ideas down into real words and substance, it is so freeing.. 14:58 When she said hey google it set mine off !!🤣xx
Ruby what a beautiful vlog. I absolutely loved it! I adore rain too. Your writing sounds so poetic and beautiful! I am very excited for you and look forward to one day buying your book. I love the idea of writing about plants and flowers and nature. Lovely vlog and I wish you all the best in April. I look forward to seeing your garden and your adventures. :) 🌸 🌷
i recently read somewhere that britian gets a lot of rain, in the sense there are more rainy days, by sydney in Australia actually gets more rain, in the sense of quantity of water.
Oh my goodness I absolutely love your vlogs. ❤ I watch your videos on repeat because they’re so relaxing to me. I’m so happy one popped up today! Stay well Ruby! 😊
I absolutely love your vlogs and I think you need to do more simple day in the life at home vlogs it always gives people that energy boost to be productive after watching your vlogs
I have watched your videos all day and I keep thinking I am watching Hermione Grangers daughter and been hesitating to say that. lol Love your content! Thank you for the motivation I need today.
Oh goodness Ruby, you are just such a lovely person, and forgive me if I’ve missed you previously talking about your novel! But I really REALLY am excited for when we can all read it! 💛 I work at a lovely independent bookshop on Vancouver Island (Canada) and I imagine having your novel on my staff pick shelf some day 🥹🥹🥹 With warm regards and always cheering for you: Antonia
Have you ever thought about going on a long distance hiking trails either in the UK or other countries like the Camino de Santiago in Spain for example, where you spend almost all your time walking and sleeping in different hostels since you really like walking. You can walk for a week or even a month.
That's a great suggestion, I love hiking. Where I'm from in Virginia, we have the famous Appalachian trail nearby which is a similar experience to what you described.
Finally I see your mother. the family. The warm, support and loving. ❤. how about the local charity? The best student is not just good in their speciality but also good for the sosiality. ( Sorry my english not good enough ). Just a little more for family clip and the sosial thing do. Thank you 💐
I've started using Seek too and now my walks take twice as long as they used to haha! Such a nice way to connect with nature that you'd ordinarily pass by without wondering. There are a hundred different plants and trees that were there long before I stepped on their path and that will be there long after still. So interesting.
You need to read more Waugh! So glad you loved Brideshead. Sword of Honor Trilogy is most certainly worth your time if you fall in love with his style. I find the trilogy to be the most fascinating account of the second world war. Wishing you the best.
I think you’d love Florence in Italy. I live here and personally it’s full of art and magic. Not to mention it’s near lots of other beautiful Tuscan towns that are only a short train journey away!
"Rain is so underrated." Have to pin that to my wall. You have such beautiful countryside in your neighborhood -- loved your rainy walk. We have starlings in California too. Your expression when you picked up your Latin book (resigned) is my expression when I pick up my current math book. We have our different reasons for doing those things, well, stick to it, right? Take care Ruby.

I love it when you make vlogs about a rainy day. Rain is such a beautiful natural phenomenon. I don't understand how some people can dislike it.
some people find it depressing and it affects their mental health. Everyone is different, just because you like something doesn't mean everyone should.

Ruby, I believe your book will be amazing!!! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
To enjoy this walk with you. Thank you much.

I loved the paragraph you shared! I’m already so intrigued!

Perfect timing - as I watch this on a very stormy day in which we're under a tornado watch.
Oh goodness Ruby, you are just such a lovely person, and forgive me if I’ve missed you previously talking about your novel! But I really REALLY am excited for when we can all read it! 💛 I work at a lovely independent bookshop on Vancouver Island (Canada) and I imagine having your novel on my staff pick shelf some day 🥹🥹🥹
With warm regards and always cheering for you:

Have you ever thought about going on a long distance hiking trails either in the UK or other countries like the Camino de Santiago in Spain for example, where you spend almost all your time walking and sleeping in different hostels since you really like walking. You can walk for a week or even a month.
SUCH a good idea!
Thank you, you answered my tree app question possibly unwittingly but nevertheless most grateful, thank you! 😊
THANKS BOSS
HAVE a productive week
Your passage! I cannot wait to read this one day in full.
