Heated Washer Fluid! Never Scrape Frost Again With This $60 Product

- UPDATE: There was some speculation that this will cause a cold windshield to crack. After a full season of use in temperatures down to single digits, this has NOT caused any damage to my windshield. I installed one on my other car, which already has a big chip in the glass and again NO DAMAGE has occurred.
We’ve all run out the door a little late in the winter and had that thick morning frost on the windshield. This old TDI swapped XJ takes forever to warm up and have a working defrost, so I’ve been searching for an easy solution.
Enter: Kleinn Air Horns Hydroblast. This simple install and $55 part is exactly the answer I needed. It heats the washer fluid to 140° F and gives a blast of frost melting fluid to cut right through the frost and keep it off! Unlike simple high-alcohol “de-icer” washer fluid, it does not re-freeze and even if it does, just blast it again!
I’ll show you a great spot to tuck this in on a vehicle with a spacious rain tray / cowl but it can easily be installed on an inner fender or firewall too.

I'm fixing to move to Colorado from Florida so I will definitely be get this for my vehicles. Thanks for sharing.
This is awesome definitely gonna be ordering one for my Jeep in a couple weeks. Thanks for the install video
I’m adding them to my whole fleet!
That's what I'm kind of thinking I was gonna do a remote start in my work Van but this is a little bit cheaper
Keep up the good work John 👍
Thanks Alan
I’ll be ordering one for sure! That’s super trick!! Great video!
Thanks !
I'm here in PA too. I'm sure it would come in handy real soon
Never thought this to be something out there, thats pretty cool!
Yeah who knew?!
May need to pick one up, looking like winter is going to be no joke this year.
Yeah this has already saved me a bunch of hassle in the mornings it’s been frosty at least every other morning since I did the install 🥶
Cool product. I have never heard of such a thing.
That’s a super cool idea! My Jeep has been struggling a little with making heat…somebody (not me!) put stop leak it at some point and I think it found the heater core…
Oh no! Stop leak is the worst :- Hydroblast is awesome and you’re entered in the drawing dude!
Great video and neat gadget idea. I'm surprised that manufacturers don't offer this as an option on newer vehicles...
I’ve heard it was an option on various vehicles throughout the years but I’m also surprised it isn’t more common
I like it very practical piece of equipment just in time for winter as well
Yessir can’t wait to see how it does with some snow
@@DirtRoadTherapy we don't get a lot of snow here but those windows do get frozen over on a regular bases. Bet it would work great on the LJ
The XJ has remote start, but if when the CJ is rebuilt I want to take it out in the snow...great idea, like most German automotive tech, lol.
The ol’ cummins could use one of these for sure. 👍
Yes I plan to put one in mine also
Cool deal
😎😌
I do snow removal in southwest Montana, and recently discovered these. Sounds like it would do wonders. How is the longevity so far?
Still works perfectly. I installed one on my commuter car too a few months after this one, and it is also working like a champ
Wow...great mod! Good bye scraping icy windshields !
And good riddance 🥶
Works like a mini tankless water heater, haha.
Same concept yes!
I know this was a few months ago. Was just wondering what prevents it from being on all the time?
A thermostatic switch internal to it. I ended up wiring it to a heavy duty relay, but that was only so I didn’t have to unplug it when using a battery maintainer
I can think of a silver XJ that could certainly use this...
Awesome, good luck in the giveaway!
How do I keep my reservoir from freezing up? If it's frozen how is the fluid going to flow to the heater?
You need washer fluid with more alcohol in it. Get some rated for lower temps!
Think I'd run a switch to it so I could turn it off. I would think it would last longer that way. Can you share the wattage spec's please.
It would be kind of nice to have the switch option but I’m not really concerned about it. It’s amazing how much more effective the hot fluid is at keeping the windshield clean I feel like it is always significantly cleaner now. I’ll test the draw across the fuse for you. It’s got a 60A fuse
@@DirtRoadTherapy Please do. 60a fuse is quite big! I guess it doesn't say on the packaging..
I decided to run this on a switch when I added an onboard trickle charger to the Jeep. I just used a 60/80 amp relay and same gauge wire as feeds the unit, and it works great.
Thats cool! Guess its not hot enough to worry about cracking the glass when its cold
It’s 115° when it hits the windshield I expect that’s not gonna be a quick enough change to cause issues
@@TravelinTim my thoughts too. It has to be a fast and drastic change. The quantity of hot liquid isn’t enough to quickly heat the glass nor is the temperature differential cast enough even well below freezing
That’s good to know! You should definitely install one of these. One thing I love is that it doesn’t freeze right back up, it really clears the glass and it stays clear.
Very cool ill prabobly need 3 hahaha 2 for the jeeps 1 for the work van lol
No, if you dumped a bucket of boiling water on it that would be bad. But this is a mist, and no where near boiling. It really works great I need one on my truck too!
I see the windshield eventually cracking from throwing hot water on a freezing piece of glass...
I don’t think prolonged use would make any difference. For cold glass to break it has to be a very fast and extreme temperature change. I don’t see 115° water misted on a broad surface for 3 seconds having that capability but I’ll definitely post on IG about it if it happens!
@@DirtRoadTherapy my windscreen cracks in the summer, when it was hot in the sun and i streamed 20C windscreen fluid
That sounds like an anomaly! I’ve been using this on two cars for 2 winters now and no cracks
WINNER!! Rob @DaddyJeepGarage was randomly selected as the winner. You can watch the giveaway from my live IG video @dirtroadtherapyjon
