This comment is about your Japanese beetle problem and my solution to your infestation. My Japanese beetle problem was every bit as big as yours. Now I have a very very small issue with them. It took years to figure it out.
You don’t want them to land,so a repellant is necessary. I use a white clay powder named Surround WP, the companies name is Nova Source. Please read about it. I spray my fruit trees with it, along with all squashes, it repels squash bug and squash vine borer, cucumber beetles hate it so I keep my cubes sprayed and anything else they like to eat I even spray my rose. I spray everything they like before they hatch in June and keep things sprayed especially after a rain until they start the end of their life expectancy or their season. By keeping them from landing they will go elsewhere and won’t overwinter in your soil...for your soil get some Milky Spore and treat your soil, then like I did treat your soil also with some nematodes. That will take care of any leftovers. I promise if you do this you eventually will have almost no problem at all....I live in the woods of NW Virginia and we have them in the trillions... this product is more than just a repellant it’s a suppressant to many more bad pest. Wishing you all the best
