This is by far the BEST instructional video I have seen working on any car so far. Great job explaining all the steps. Hope everytyhing worked out for you in the end. Thanks again fro the great post.
Very impressive and very helpful. Thank you!!! I was wondering if you might have just swapped out the oil filter while you had the engine pulled. Also impressed with how clean that timing chain area looked under the cover. 250,000 miles??? I almost want to call BS. After getting the engine put back together, I assume you put the serpentine belt back on before putting the engine back in. (Yes I’m a rookie, learning as I go, and you are a huge help!)
@@shadetreestreetcars8626How do you go about removing the pulleys and valve cover while the engine is still in the car? How do you support the engine while the other engine mount is removed?
What is that exhaust and intake u said i-1 i-2 and so on and e-1 and e-2 so on my brother accidentally deop those and it all came out i need help on its right place :( 22:47 Pls help
If they got dropped and mixed up then the only way to figure out where to put them is by installing them and checking the clearance between them and the cam with a feeler gauge. It requires installing and removing the cam multiple times to get them right.
Very helpful!!! You’re a lifesaver! Swapping out a blown engine on my daughter’s 2012 Veloster (automatic transmission). Those engine to transmission bolts aren’t torque to yield bolts, are they??? But wasn’t paying attention to the lengths of bolts and hugely appreciate you IDing their location by length.
Tremendous help! My mechanic says i need a new engine... Instilation & engine $4000. He said the piston rings are bad. Main code is p0301. Could it be head gasket? Or where is the best place i can buy a refurbished engine? Im worried im going to get a crap engine with the same issue. Anyway, thank you gor your post here. You have a natural skill in teaching how this engine works. 💜
Failing piston rings and headgasket failure share some of the same symptoms. So maybe its possible u need a headgasket. But if you have a decent mechanic i would assume he came to that conclusion based on his evaluation of the engine. Either possibility requires a lot of labor to correct.
How did u take out the gas without losing air pressure to the gas tank and mines doin the same thing where it has aweak start ithought it might of been gasket because of lose of pressure in engine...help!
I'm not really sure what you're asking. There shouldn't be any air pressure in the gas tank except when the leak detection pump is running. Usually a weak/long start is due to bad spark or low fuel pressure, a bad head gasket will present other problems like smoke, misfires, overheating, etc.
Those bolts are torque to yield which means they stretch when you torque them. Since they stretch they can only be used once or they might break when torqued.
Labor intensive doing head gaskets on 4 cylinder engines. Hell of a lot better to do the work yourself to save yourself 3k in parts and labor at a shop.

Good informative video!
Awesome man. I really appreciate this video

Actually the serpentine belt had to be installed after I put the engine back in because of the AC compressor being left hooked up in the engine bay.
Thanks for a very informative video. Does the engine need to come out for a head gasket?
No it's possible to do it in the car I just removed the engine to video it better

Is this possible to replace head gasket without taking the engine out?
Yes it's possible it's a little more time consuming but it's definitely possible

Great videos bud. #velosternation
Why did you have to replace the cylinder head bolts ?
Those bolts are torque to yield which means they stretch when you torque them. Since they stretch they can only be used once or they might break when torqued.
you never mention the torque for the cam bolts
