Busted Fishing Old School 85 casting jig

A traditional casting jig that’ll catch most big (and small!) tropical fish. It’s worth drilling out the holes a little bit to make it easier to mount split rings, as long as you don’t over bore, there should still be enough “meat” left in the jig to ensure strength. I used Decoy 250lb splits, 1/0 NT swivel and a 7/0 BKK Lone Diablo.

First time watching your videos. That jig looks like many of the "surface iron" jigs we use here in Southern California for ocean gamefish. Surprised it comes without terminal tackle. How much is a jig like that? Cnc brass jigs can cost anywhere from $15usd (used) to over $30usd. While older cast poured ones a few bucks used to $20usd new. Problem with the cast molded ones are they all swim differently or you get duds.
Sometimes you can decent swimming jig to swim better by drilling out the top hole but not perfectly rounded. Go for an oval or egg shape.
I have more than 200jigs and at least 6 different jigstick rods . Just barely scratching the surface compared to other jig fisherman I know.

In the UK it cost £7.50 (so circa $15), as it’s cnc it should swim well. TBH I’m glad it didn’t come with terminal tackle as 90% of all supplied terminal is junk.

The best quality metal you can get. Remove the swivel. Run the treb or single right to the ring

How do i stop my 8 strand braid from twisting when using jigs ect ect i use FC as a leader

Try using a high quality ball bearing swivel, that should make a significant difference

Try a Jig Star ball bearing swivel, at the top of the jig try a split then a bb swivel. There are such things as anti twist vanes, but they aren’t usually mean for big fish

@@garyallen8 no it’s not a trolling vane, it’s designed to stop line twist. Search eBay and you should find them
