Haha I'm deleting the pauses to try to shorten the video. Trying it out as a style similar to Hakunalaplanta and a lot of other UA-camrs. UA-cam's algorithm usually punishes you for longer videos if people stop watching halfway through. But I'm not sure if I like the editing like that or not. What do you think of it?

Thanks Julia. Yeah, it's an annoying thing you have to worry about on here because if the videos don't have good retention (people staying around to watch 50%+), UA-cam doesn't push them out. So, you have to really battle with doing as much as possible in the least amount of time. But, I get that many of the videos I'm doing probably lend themselves to long form like the chatty repots, so I might ditch the edits there and see how they go. Thanks for the feedback though, I really appreciate it!
Something useful you can try with the silver sword or any philodenren climber that has REALLY thin stems is to remove the lower leaves on the thin part and pot your plant deeper into the pot so the thicker part of the stem is in top and the thinner under the soil. The thinner stalk can become a new root system for the plant instead of being a section your worried that will snap on your next repot. Bunnings suppliers have a bad habit of getting plants with very little roots (in my experience I have never gotten anything with great roots from them so they're typically rehab plants as soon as they're brought home) so I always do this with these types of plants to give them a better chance of survival and less accidents for me when we're repotting! Your silver sword looks magnificent but yeah, you don't want to accidentally loose those beautiful leaves on a repot because of a flimsy stem.
Hmmmm great advice! I need to try that at some point and then dig it up again at a later date to check how well the roots came out of higher up the stem. That'd be interesting. Yeah... Bunnings (and many other nurseries) shit me because they sell at a price based on pot size, not plant size nor root ball size/establishment/etc. I've gotten so many plants recently that when I went to repot them out of the crappy nursery mix, they had next to no roots and were in a pot probably 2-3x too big.

I love your Florida Beauty, I hope mine ends up as nice as yours. I bought it a couple months ago as a 1 leaf cutting and it's been growing like crazy, it's sending up a third new leaf already.
If you like the maroon back and shape there is a billietiae x atabapoense hybrid that is really easy to grow. I have two of them and they are thriving in pon.
Wow, nice! I think I've only seen that once and it was on Caitlin Louise - Plant Life In The Tropics (I think??) At least, I think it was her and she was saying people were telling her the plant she thought was a P. billietiae was actually a hybrid.
Awesome plants, the thai is definitely my fave. Oh man , ur Bunnings is much better than the one in my town over here in west oz. We did get a few monstera albo's in a couple of months ago, but for the price of them and the over watering, there was no way i was going to fork out for one. Though i did manage to pick up a really nice verrucosum and a silver cloud from my bunnings, so i consider that a win.
Hey Sally! Haha yeah, I feel you :) They're so nice and I'm glad they're plummeting in price so more people can get their hands on them. Yeah, it's a mixed bag to be honest lol I hop around 4 of the Bunnings within 40mins drive of where I live here in Vic and 3 are usually awful for plants and 1 is really good. I think it's because the regional manager of plants for the company is often at Waurn Ponds and she's a plant lover and orders the good stuff in there lol so it's become a haunt of mine now. I'm so jealous you got a verrucosum! I've wanted one of those for ages.
I’ve been yearning for a Florida Beauty, yours is GORGEOUS (the ‘you were the chosen one’ cut had me laughing so hard’)! Also if you cut that Monstera Thai my heart will break…. But you would get a lot of beautiful babies from it

My fav plant is actually a begonia hybrid i (hopefully) made! The seedlings are looking way different from the parent plants, but im keeping the cross a secret until im sure it's a hybrid haha!
Haha yay! Great work! There need to be more of us out there haha. How do you find it goes in terracotta? I have a few things in it, but I find the soil dries out so fast compared to everything else that I have and I often forget to water them enough.
Well I live wayyy up north in Finland where the winters are long and here terracotta protects my plants from root rot during the darker months. This suits me well since I'm a habitual overwaterer anyways although it keeps me quite busy during our short and nowadays quite hot summers.
Wow! That's awesome. It's amazing how different people's systems for taking care of their plants can be based on their climates. How do you go with them in winter? I imagine you need loads of extra light and heat?
Extra light is a must and so are humidifiers thanks to central heating. One of the reasons I love the P. Hastatum is the hardiness of the plant, he just keeps on pushing new growth even through the darkest months! 😊💪
How fitting, just purchased a Florida Ghost at my local plant store here in Florida. 75 bucks, I’m glad they are much more affordable here. Still waiting on albo’s and constellations to come down on price though.
