I wanted to buy the latest version of this camera For the first time I need to connect the camera to the Internet to start streaming ? Later on I can disconnect the Internet but it ll be recording?
For older versions like 2k pro, you definitely need an internet connection for patient it with a phone and for recording. it will stop recording one the internet is disconnected(Even if WiFi is still connected). I am not sure about the newer versions. Someone in comments said that there is an update that enables offline recording but I have not yet received it.

No. I could not figure out how to start a live stream in a local network without internet. A live stream can continue without the internet connectivity though. But this doesn't help with your specific scenario.

I am sorry, I have used the camera only in a India. So I am not sure if you can use it outside. but in all possibility, you should be able to watch the stream from anywhere in the world. If internet is not working, the camera will not record anything. it will just stop recording even to memory card once the network is lost .
No you do not need hotspot from phone itself. Regular Wifi Router will do. I used a mobile hotspot to better demonstrate a lack of internet connectivity with Wifi network still ON. If I had used my router, I would have to manually remove the cable from the router to simulate a loss in just the internet connectivity. And reconnecting the cable to re-establish internet would take far more time than the mobile hotspot. So to save some time, I used the mobile hotspot. In fact I would recommend to use a regular router and not a hotspot.
I bought two and tried it on both and it looks like it would record a video for around 30 minutes before stopping the recording after disconnecting the internet or the wifi. It definitely needs a wireless network with internet connection for continuous recording.

Yes you can. You can easily stream the feed even if you are away from home. Also you can talk to people on the other side, just like a phone call( speaker volume of the 2K pro camera is a bit low though).
never buy cameras without lan support even if it mention 2k but check for powerfull ir led on it to have good sight in dark and because those with lan socket can connect to a router through lan cable and u can watch and record on many devices without any internet connection, only on local network

Hi bro I have one doubt please clarify. If there is a powercut and then afterwards the power comes back then does this camera need wifi in order to resume its recording? Many people are mentioning it as a major flaw in this camera that each and everytime whenever there is a power off and on then it requires internet to start recording again even in the sd card. Could you please confirm whether this is correct or not.
The worst thing is that in case of a power failure last few seconds will not get recorded at all. If someone comes in front of camera and removes the cable from the back, we will not be seeing the last few seconds in the memory card. This happens because the recoding to memory card happens in batches ( of 1 minute I guess).

@@mando198991 Yes. It will connect automatically when the power comes back. Even if the wifi comes back at a later point, the camera will reconnect without any interference from us.
Hi, I think you might have disabled mobile data access to the Xiaomi Home app. To check if that is the case go to 'App Info'( long press on the Xiaomi Home app to reveal the menu item) And go to 'data usage' check if mobile data is enabled. if not enable it. If this solved the problem could you you please update me?
I am sorry that I did not test for that. But I was thinkng that if this camera can continue to work without WiFi, it can work with a network disabled WiFi. From my test what I could understand is that the camera can work without wifi, but for an unspecified time. You cannot reliably say for how long it would work. It might stop after few hours or few days. I could not pinpoint an exact reason for stoppage of working either.

It depends on the size of the SD card and whether or not you are recording the entire footage. For me, a 64GB card is on continuous recording. My oldest data is from the 17th of November ( 19 days old).

Have you used the reset option of the camera?. There is a small hole on the back of the camera. You can insert a SIM ejector tool to this hole to reset the camera.

But from what I can remember, you do not need a network to restart recording after a blackout. But to see a stream or access the recordings, you definitely need the internet
Sorry for the delayed response. Here are some of the findings I made during testing. 1)Mi 360 can record even without wifi provided a)Set up is successfully done. b) There is no power failure. I have recorded 10 days fully without wifi network. 2)If there is a power failure to the camera, recording will sometimes restart without a wifi network connection.

Here is why 1)You cannot be sure that there will be recordings for 10 hours without wifi. 2)There will be no alerts without wifi Once the 32GB is over, the earliest recording will be overwritten by the new video. One thing I can tell you is that even though in this video, the recording continued. Subsequent updates removed the feature and the camera no longer records even if there is WiFi (and no internet connectivity).

The video quality adjusts based on the bandwidth available. If you want to watch in full clarity, you can try to downloading the video and playing it from the 'local' section in mi home app instead of the 'memory card' section

You need internet for initial installation. But in my experience, it works well when you have continuous internet connectivity. I have had recordings of upto 10 days without internet/wifi network. But I cannot say for sure that It can happen everytime without fail. Sometimes it does stop recording after a period of time. I am yet to find out the exact cause of stoppage.
Yes, it will work only with one WiFi network at a time. You cannot connect the camera to another network without going through all the steps of setup again. Also you cannot use the hotspot from the same mobile in which the Mi Home app is installed. Hope you are clear about the issue.

Oh ok. I am sorry to say that I have not encountered such an error till now. For me, remote viewing is working without any problem. I went through the menus but did not find an option that could cause such a problem. The only way I can think is that the router is not letting the camera connect to the internet.
@anandukrishnan3054 hi, I bumped into a possible solution for you. Can you check if you have access to mobile data enabled for Xiaomi Home App. you can have a look at App Info>> Data Usage >> Disable mobile data. If the mobile data is disabled using the switch, it could cause the problem

Hi, I am sorry to tell you that I do not have experience with any cameras that do not need wifi to work. All the wifi cameras I checked needs internet to work reliably. I have only two cameras but both of them need the internet to work. Sorry that I could not help you here.
Issue is it should record without internet after initial setup. Time or clock is not in these cheap cameras so they have to download read time from server to save time based files.
They don't want users to use these products without their control. So they can do lot of business. This is harmful to national security. As they have access to every camera and most of these companies are from china. Government have to make it madatory to make such firmware so camera can record footage and can be access offline. We should think and have to force these companies to do same. Xiaomi India don't want to implement offline recording purposely as have so many email conversations, feedback with them but they are not doing anything. Just ignoring. Cheap ₹500 wifi camera records in offline mode even you can setup camera in offline mode.
I am facing offline issue with my mi 360 2k pro. Randomly goes offline for couple of hours and then starts automatically. No issue with internet or power as I am using same wifi on my mobile and smart tv. Rest everything working except the mi going offline. Please suggest a solution
Do you record continuously or is the recording motion activated?. In the latter case, the camera can go offline if no motion is detected for some time. Also please see in the Mi home app for an update. Recently my 2K Pro was updated to V 4.3.4. Open Camera in the Mi home app and tap on the three dots at the top right corner and select settings. See in the 'Firmware update' for any pending update.
I checked the setting and there is no option to change the resolution of recording. But I believe there is an option to change the resolution of the live stream to 360p to ensure smooth playback. You can open the camera using the Mi home app and tap on the live screen to see the option to change the streaming resolution. For my 2K pro camera there are three options 'Auto' which is default, 360p, and 2K HD. But this does not affect the recording resolution. You can check it by streaming any previous video at full resolution.
Ok. My 2k pro always records in full resolution. Regardless of the resolution used for streaming. You can check it by playing back any video in full resolution.
If you download clips from the 'Surveillance' section, it will only be 360p because that is the resolution in which the 9 second clips are uploaded to the cloud. Here is how to download the full resolution video. 1) Go to 'Memory Management'. 2) Use the 'Calendar' icon towards the top right to select a previous date( for some reason today's clips are blank for me). 3) Tap on the hour you want to download clips from. 4) Tap on the edit button just above the clips. 4) Select any number of clips , you can even use the top right button to select all the clips of the hour. 5) Tap on the download button at the bottom. All the selected clips will be downloaded to the phone. Note: The clips will be downloaded to a folder within the 'DCIM' folder.

I think if you enable movement triggered recording, it needs internet to get triggered. I have continuous recording enabled. This does not require continuous internet.

Hi, there is a final permission (agreeing to terms and condition) just before the Mi home app starts streaming the video. If that permission is dismissed without approval, only blank screen will be visible. Here is how you can rectify the issue 1)Watch this video to understand the pairing process - ua-cam.com/video/Pl-4vtWMGjE/v-deo.html 2)Reset the camera by pressing tbe reset button( using a SIM ejector tool) 3) Clear data of the Mi home app or un-install and reinstall. 4) Pair the camera again this time remember to give all the permissions (Final permission is given at 4:43 in the above video) Hopefully this will rectify your problem. There is no guarantee of minimum time. You cannot be 100%sure that it will work for 3 days. It can work for sometime without internet but it is hard to pin point a minimum. Mobile hotspot can be used to setup the camera but it is not recommended. You cannot use the hotspot from the same mobile that has the mo home app installed. Also it cannot guarantee a minimum recoding time if you take your mobile away from the camera so that the hotspot is unreachable.

I have offline recording issues with my mi 360 camera. My internet got cut off for 10 days because I was not able to pay my subscription. I'm disappointed that my camera quit recording the whole time internet is offline. Xiaomi could fix this but I doubt they will. Perhaps because it's true that China's government has access to our cameras. If the offline recording is not fixed I will not buy another xiaomi camera.

Using all kinds of cameras on my mi home app for almost 4 years, only the aqara hub2 camera is capable of recording even offline wifi. I am frustrated on the rest of cameras during offline. I challenge the creator to try offline in even 5 minutes of recording on sd card. I'll bet my soul..
Hi mate, Today, I tried a longer recording session with the wifi cut off. A total of 4 times I disconnected the internet and waited for a out 15 minutes before reconnecting. First time the recording got cut off for some reason after about a minute or so. But for the next three times, the recording continued without any issues for the entirety of the test. Bw, I used the Full HD version of the mi 360⁰ Home security camera with firmware version 4.0.9-0409. I have set the recording to ALWAYS ON and not MOTION ACTIVATED.

To start a live stream even when devices are in same network, the device require internet. But to continue already started live strea, you dont need a live network.
I am sorry that it did not work for you. When I said it can work without a wifi network, it is not a lie. I wanted to see if the recording continues in the case of a loss in network. The recording was done after multiple trials and for me in no occasion recording stopped. All the trials were for short periods. Atmost 10 minutes. I had some requests through the comments to test it for long time and when I tried, I got between 6 hours and 10 days. I dont know when it will stop recording. But surely it can record if the network is cut from an already working camera. That's what I wanted to convey. I do not intend to convey a message that this camera can work completely offline. I am sorry if I conveyed such a message. It was without malice.

Oh no. It is not possible to download clips using the Camera's Wifi Network. The purpose of Camera's Wifi is only the pairing.

You might not have given some permission for the mi Home app. You can try reinstalling the app and then try again.

Have you used the reset option of the camera?. There is a small hole on the back of the camera. You can insert a SIM ejector tool to this hole to reset the camera.

I am sorry that I cannot give you a correct answer at this time, I have taken the camera down as some renovation work is going on at my residence. I will update as soon as the system is back up.
But from what I can remember, you do not need a network to restart recording after a blackout. But to see a stream or access the recordings, you definitely need the internet
Sorry for the delayed response. Here are some of the findings I made during testing.
1)Mi 360 can record even without wifi provided a)Set up is successfully done. b) There is no power failure. I have recorded 10 days fully without wifi network.
2)If there is a power failure to the camera, recording will sometimes restart without a wifi network connection.

1)You cannot be sure that there will be recordings for 10 hours without wifi.
2)There will be no alerts without wifi
Once the 32GB is over, the earliest recording will be overwritten by the new video. But I am not sure that will happen without wifi.

I am sorry to say that I do not have a NAS storage at present to answer you confidently. I will have your answer in a week because I am in the process of setting up one.
One thing I can tell you is that even though in this video, the recording continued. Subsequent updates removed the feature and the camera no longer records even if there is WiFi (and no internet connectivity).

The video quality adjusts based on the bandwidth available. If you want to watch in full clarity, you can try to downloading the video and playing it from the 'local' section in mi home app instead of the 'memory card' section

You need internet for initial installation. But in my experience, it works well when you have continuous internet connectivity.
I have had recordings of upto 10 days without internet/wifi network. But I cannot say for sure that It can happen everytime without fail.
Sometimes it does stop recording after a period of time. I am yet to find out the exact cause of stoppage.

Yes, it will work only with one WiFi network at a time. You cannot connect the camera to another network without going through all the steps of setup again.
Also you cannot use the hotspot from the same mobile in which the Mi Home app is installed.

It was working initially..but suddenly from one day onwards it stopped working. Now I can watch live streaming only if I connect my mobile to wifi network where my camera is connected.

Oh ok. I am sorry to say that I have not encountered such an error till now. For me, remote viewing is working without any problem.
I went through the menus but did not find an option that could cause such a problem.

@anandukrishnan3054 hi, I bumped into a possible solution for you. Can you check if you have access to mobile data enabled for Xiaomi Home App. you can have a look at App Info>> Data Usage >> Disable mobile data. If the mobile data is disabled using the switch, it could cause the problem

You will not be able to view the video using a local Wifi without an internet connection. Previously, I could continue streaming if only the internet connectivity was disabled. Now, without an internet connection, you will not be able to do anything.

I am sorry to say that there is no offline mode for this camera. You need an active internet connection for this camera to work.
Even to view the stream, you need an active internet connection. A wifi network without any internet access will not work.

Hi, I am sorry to tell you that I do not have experience with any cameras that do not need wifi to work. All the wifi cameras I checked needs internet to work reliably.

Issue is it should record without internet after initial setup. Time or clock is not in these cheap cameras so they have to download read time from server to save time based files.

They don't want users to use these products without their control. So they can do lot of business.
This is harmful to national security. As they have access to every camera and most of these companies are from china.
Government have to make it madatory to make such firmware so camera can record footage and can be access offline.

I am facing offline issue with my mi 360 2k pro. Randomly goes offline for couple of hours and then starts automatically. No issue with internet or power as I am using same wifi on my mobile and smart tv. Rest everything working except the mi going offline. Please suggest a solution
Do you record continuously or is the recording motion activated?. In the latter case, the camera can go offline if no motion is detected for some time.
Also please see in the Mi home app for an update. Recently my 2K Pro was updated to V 4.3.4.
Open Camera in the Mi home app and tap on the three dots at the top right corner and select settings. See in the 'Firmware update' for any pending update.

In mi 2k how to change recording resolution, it is showing 360 pixel
I checked the setting and there is no option to change the resolution of recording. But I believe there is an option to change the resolution of the live stream to 360p to ensure smooth playback.
You can open the camera using the Mi home app and tap on the live screen to see the option to change the streaming resolution. For my 2K pro camera there are three options 'Auto' which is default, 360p, and 2K HD. But this does not affect the recording resolution. You can check it by streaming any previous video at full resolution.

Ok. My 2k pro always records in full resolution. Regardless of the resolution used for streaming. You can check it by playing back any video in full resolution.

If you download clips from the 'Surveillance' section, it will only be 360p because that is the resolution in which the 9 second clips are uploaded to the cloud.
Here is how to download the full resolution video.
1) Go to 'Memory Management'. 2) Use the 'Calendar' icon towards the top right to select a previous date( for some reason today's clips are blank for me). 3) Tap on the hour you want to download clips from. 4) Tap on the edit button just above the clips. 4) Select any number of clips , you can even use the top right button to select all the clips of the hour. 5) Tap on the download button at the bottom. All the selected clips will be downloaded to the phone. Note: The clips will be downloaded to a folder within the 'DCIM' folder.

I think if you enable movement triggered recording, it needs internet to get triggered. I have continuous recording enabled. This does not require continuous internet.

Hi, there is a final permission (agreeing to terms and condition) just before the Mi home app starts streaming the video. If that permission is dismissed without approval, only blank screen will be visible. Here is how you can rectify the issue

2)Reset the camera by pressing tbe reset button( using a SIM ejector tool)
3) Clear data of the Mi home app or un-install and reinstall.

There is no guarantee of minimum time. You cannot be 100%sure that it will work for 3 days.
It can work for sometime without internet but it is hard to pin point a minimum.
Mobile hotspot can be used to setup the camera but it is not recommended. You cannot use the hotspot from the same mobile that has the mo home app installed. Also it cannot guarantee a minimum recoding time if you take your mobile away from the camera so that the hotspot is unreachable.

I have offline recording issues with my mi 360 camera. My internet got cut off for 10 days because I was not able to pay my subscription. I'm disappointed that my camera quit recording the whole time internet is offline. Xiaomi could fix this but I doubt they will. Perhaps because it's true that China's government has access to our cameras. If the offline recording is not fixed I will not buy another xiaomi camera.

Using all kinds of cameras on my mi home app for almost 4 years, only the aqara hub2 camera is capable of recording even offline wifi. I am frustrated on the rest of cameras during offline. I challenge the creator to try offline in even 5 minutes of recording on sd card. I'll bet my soul..

Today, I tried a longer recording session with the wifi cut off. A total of 4 times I disconnected the internet and waited for a out 15 minutes before reconnecting.
First time the recording got cut off for some reason after about a minute or so. But for the next three times, the recording continued without any issues for the entirety of the test.
Bw, I used the Full HD version of the mi 360⁰ Home security camera with firmware version 4.0.9-0409.
I have set the recording to ALWAYS ON and not MOTION ACTIVATED.

To start a live stream even when devices are in same network, the device require internet. But to continue already started live strea, you dont need a live network.

I am sorry that it did not work for you. When I said it can work without a wifi network, it is not a lie.
I wanted to see if the recording continues in the case of a loss in network.
The recording was done after multiple trials and for me in no occasion recording stopped.
All the trials were for short periods. Atmost 10 minutes. I had some requests through the comments to test it for long time and when I tried, I got between 6 hours and 10 days. I dont know when it will stop recording. But surely it can record if the network is cut from an already working camera.
That's what I wanted to convey. I do not intend to convey a message that this camera can work completely offline.
