I'm in Cerritos zone 10b and get a slight coastal influence but we had our 90+° days . I have found watering it twice a day with a shade cloth protects it from heat waves
Whatever keeps them flush with growth
nice to see you on the video. good job
Thanks Mikey
One more hot spell coming this weekend and I will be ready to plant my 3 avacado trees that have been in containers one and 2 years , a Reed , Haas and Sir . Prize . Do you recommend I put gypsum around them after I plant them ? Do to health problems I have to hire people to help me . I did salvage some nice redwood planks from a broken picnic table . I also snagged some 10' planks that were in the markdown cart at a big box store , 75% off for nice wood that will be used in my raised beds like yours . Next garage sales in the neighborhood , I will ask for redwood picnic tables or benches that I can recycle to raised beds
I would add gypsum, worm castings and some organic fertilizer in the top few inches of soil when you plant them.
@@TheElsinoreGardener Thank you very much for the advice and channel is very cool
Hope it does great for you 🤞
Thanks
Great time to plant. Got a #15 Lamb from Maddock, it's taking off, putting on nice growth in this cooler weather. Best of luck with you raised beds
Good growing to you Frank

I have a root bound Haas in a 15 gallon container. It’s healthy but I want to put it in the ground. Can you make radial cuts on the root ball like other fruit trees? I’ve heard avocado roots are quite sensitive and I don’t want to do anything to kill it. Thanks
I would try to untangle the roots in the bottom of the container gently and not cut anything. Just spread those untangled roots in the bottom of the new hole and backfill. The tree will do the rest.
i got new JB in a 5gal pot, how long should i keep it in there before up potting into a 15gal?
@@jlakindd depends on the quality of the soil it’s in now, how established it is, and if you like the way it is now. You should probably put it in a little bigger pot soon with better soil so you know the soil quality.
@@TheElsinoreGardener i got it from gary at Laguna hills nursery. its showing lots of new growth. Not sure if up potting it right now would cause shock or its going to like the bigger container. Its hard to tell
How are your Kona sharwil and sir prize doing?
Sir Prize is lush right now. 40 gallon Sharwill is great too
Absolutely love your videos, very informative. I live in Alpine, just outside of San Diego and have one Dwarf Cado in a 15-gallon plastic planter/pot from Costco. I drilled extra drainage holes, and it seems to work very well. We are moving to the Buckeye area of Phoenix soon and I plan on up-potting it or putting it into one of your types of raised beds (can you tell me where you get your materials for the raised beds?). Unfortunately, it's pretty root bound, but what can I do for now to keep it nice and healthy until we move? Also, since this is a type A & B tree and a self-pollinating tree, I would still like to get another different type of Avocado that would also assist with the pollination and boost output. Can you suggest a type? BTW, I will be planting this into a container as well, until we move. Thanks in advance.
Home Depot has the cement corner pieces along with the materials I use. If there are 🐝 you really don’t need a B type. I like Sharwill for a B tree
@@TheElsinoreGardener Where might you suggest that I find a Sharwil?
@@TheElsinoreGardener Where can I get a Sharwil?
Don’t know right now
