  • Seven years on from the Brexit vote, Fiona Bruce hosts a special edition of Question Time in Clacton, with an audience of people who voted to leave. What do they now make of post-Brexit Britain?
    On the panel, from the Conservatives, the former government minister, John Redwood MP; from Labour, shadow cabinet minister Baroness Chapman; the former adviser to Tony Blair and Remain supporter, Alastair Campbell; the businessman and former Brexit Party MEP, Ben Habib; and Professor Anand Menon, director of UK in a Changing Europe

      as the big woman in light blue too, if anything her facile argument was far worse. There is so much hard evidence that the people of the UK were lied to and manipulated. She wouldn't know what Cambridge Analytica was if you ... well... Simple people who know nothing merely parroting those they adore and not seeking the truth, and worse incapable of seeing the truth. All hellishly frustrating.

    Some say they didn't believe the lies, but back in time happily accepted that others believed the lies, voted Leave and Boris.

      As it becomes more and more apparent that the eu is firmly in the control of the wef the more the eu members voting is changing. We see it more and more. They are already looking to replace vdl as she has not been able to stop this slide. Of to nato for her. And a new shinning light arrives in Brussels. But people are learning. Not so easy next time. To hope to keep the eu it will have to change or fall.

      More nonsense.Since the U.K. brexit even the far right in France Germany etc who didn’t want to remain in the EU have changed their minds.They look at the economic harm & the disaster brexit has become & have dropped their anti EU stance.

    My thermometer is GBP and EUR rates performance. so here goes:
    Avg, GBP to EUR 2015 1.38 today 1.16 down 16%
    Avg. GBP to USD 2015 1.53 today 1.27 down 17%
    Avg. EUR to USD 2015 1.11 today 1.09 down 2%
    Nuff said.

      Political instabilty does not attract international liquidity to a country's bond issues. Is there a replacement for Rishi on the horizon or is the governing party just goinn to indulge in internecine cannibalism until the next GE? While musical chairs in cabinets is one thing musical PM's does seem rather hazardous. To get to the nitty gritties I got out of sterling, not fast enough unfortunately, when it was i.26 to the euro and I can assure you 10 Euro cents on the èound even on my modest ampunt will buy me mamy a nice dinner in my city of Milan.

    That old lady would prefer that tradespeople fall from height? Keeping people safe is a bad thing? What bizzare logic! If a roofer falls off a roof he/she will cost the welfare state thousands!

    • @adrianrouse5148
      @adrianrouse5148 Рік тому

      That's not what she was saying. The eu made rules and many times it was only the UK that adhered to them. The roofing safety was just a example. Workers in the UK used safety harnesses which cost money while other eu country's took no notice.

      @@adrianrouse5148 I think you've missed my point. Health and safety should be everyone's number one priority. There is a moral, legal and financial duty for employers to ensure that employees go home fit and well every day. Just because a dodgy roofing contractor in Spain doesn't pay for scaffolding and harnesses doesn't mean that we should follow suit to exploit the financial gain. There is no excuse for any employer not to provide safety equipment.

    Brexit supporters were undoubtedly lied to. The biggest issue is that just leaving the EU has so many possibilities and people were given little idea of what a Brexit deal would actually look like. Nigel Farage even said in 2019 that if the referendum was between remain and Boris Johnson's 'oven ready' Brexit deal, remain wins every time.

      Was the truth was "the day after a brexit vote the UK economy will crash"?
      The EEC was put to a public vote, Maastricht WASN'T!!! And EU continued membership was put to a public vote!
      CONCLUSION..., the UK people want to co operative with European partners NOT be ruled by them!
      ONLY the greedy self benifactors,, education indoctrination and media propaganda is pushing the EU agenda!

    • @adrianrouse5148
      @adrianrouse5148 Рік тому

      Oh there were lies. But the dissatisfaction with the eu was there long before Boris and his bus. There would have been no call for a referendum without a large dissatisfaction.

    • @mikewa2
      @mikewa2 Рік тому

      The was no ‘huge anti EU movement’ . The movement on EU came from backbenchers who kept lobbying the PM for a referendum. Who was pushing the backbenchers? Well that’s a long story and it’s all to do with taxation and tax havens and the EU threatening to stop the Uber rich and criminals from hiding their very I’ll gotten gains. Apparently there are Trillions of £ in tax haven accounts (trusts) and if everything was exposed (some revealed in the Panama papers) it would expose those who use the huge hiding place for dirty money. Look at many of those who have been to the most prestigious UK schools or are sending their kids to those schools now! These posh school people end up running the country (Tories) even though they have the very average brains and no experience of the lives of most of the country.
