This Super Easy Method Just Caught Me Two PB's From This Crystal Clear Canal!

  • Well this was an enjoyable session to say the least. I went out with the intention of using some super easy methods to try and catch some big canal fish and i did just that. I started off by baiting a couple swims ready for sunset. While they we're resting i decided to go stalking tench in the crystal clear canal water and the action was really fun. Managed to get a couple of the target species. Then i went over to a simple float method as the sun went down to end the session on a couple of canal beasts. That im certain were both PB's. What a session. Hope you enjoy!

Chris, just wanted to say a big thank you for the freelining advice on this video. I fish a small river locally and either use an unorthodox float set up (Most swims are 2ft deep or less) or go freelining. Yesterday, I tried the 2 shot method you describe - There is a shoal of Bream that turn up for 6 weeks every year around spawning time and have never had much luck with them, they spook easily in the shallow water. Took 5 yesterday, 3 over 5lb with the biggest at 6lb 2oz, a Chub of 5lb 2oz, a hybrid of 2lb 12oz and my first Tench for 40 years from the venue at 3lb 2oz. They got really confident where usually they give the bait a wide berth

Well done Chris. That's exactly what I was hoping to see. Some beautiful canal Tincas. And congrats on the 2 pbs, especially that female Tench. Now...remember...DO NOT FORGET SCALES NEXT TIME YOU GO OUT!😀

Great session on the canal. Lovely good condition fish. Your fish welfare is to be applauded too many commercial anglers don’t respect the fish in this way. Your a good example of fishing at its best natural venue beautiful surroundings and a perfect selection of fish. Thanks for taking the time to film. All the best Pete 🎣👍

What a pair of stunners. My brother annihilated his PB Bream last week with a 6lb 12oz fish on a club lake - He did the opposite to you Chris, was so intent on weighing the fish he put it back and then realised he hadn't taken a photo! To say he is gutted is an understatement but at least he had witnesses to see it

Lovely and well presented session Chris!
I hear guys saying a shame I couldn't get a weight on that & I wish I brought some scales.
It don't take a second to pack a small set of digital scales and a little sling in a bag for a red letter day.
For me. If I don't have scales it's like forgetting the bait for the session.

I see you using a float rod today even though your feeling the bite instead of using a float and ao i thought a lure rod would be better so you can see the bite easier. Any opinions on this?
