I’m trying to get an AC30 type sound with the el84s, so I’m looking at the 30 watt cub combo 2x12. How are the bad at speakers compared to Alnico blue backs?
The Stock Bad Cat Speaker in the Cub was a relabeled Celestion (I think a Vintage 30). I had the Bad Cat Cub 3 (15w) and tried a Celestion Blue ALNICO in it. It sounded great but had much less clean headroom. A 30-50 Watt alnico would have been better. My Cub 3 was voiced too bright for my taste. I tried 2 different alnico speakers (Celestion Blue and a Red Fang), and did numerous tube swaps but was never able to boost the low end and get an eq setup that suited my tastes.
If you put 50k pods in your teley is with take the very bright tone down an add the bass to match the low end of the treble put special design 12s in it then you have the best sounding amp you can do a lot to them but sometimes re pod your guitar it helps a lot way we do it at the studios

Soo I just bought this amp from guitar center. I looked around the back and it looked like a custom Celestion alnico gold speaker
