You know... it's a pleasure watching Tim's videos, because he clearly loves what he does and loves being an educator. And he has just the BEST GUITARS!!!
Tim, time to give up and admit it, you love the 80s hi gain sound. Whether this video or the SLO video your expressions give away just how much you like it every time you go back to it.
That amp sounds AMAZING; rich tone and clear note definition at all levels of overdrive. With 3-band tone knobs and smooth gate controls, it's a home run!
I've been an unabashed Mesa fan boy for years, but Badcat absolutely killed it with their line up. There isn't a single model I didn't love the tone from. The Lynx absolutely kills the heavy while fat sounds yet still keeps things pretty well defined. It's like the tone I've had in my head came alive.
Just purchased a Bad Cat 1x12 combo! Very versatile and built beautifully! I'll be taking it to rock the great beyond when my time in this life is done!
There are so many great Amps. It all depends on your taste. My favorite is Fender, Marshall, and Mesa Boogie. Take care. 😎👍👌💯. We never really grow up. We just get older. Good video by Kemosabe. 😉😉
Great video! I have had the Bad Cat Lynx X since it came out a few years ago. Got it for the high gain, stayed for the cleans! Such a fun amp. Playing the Lynx through the Bad Cat 4x12 cab or an oversized Mesa is the perfect combo.
@@jarredbaca8112 honestly, it’s a Tough call. I believe they are the same size. The bad cat is extremely heavy. It’s amazing. It’s probably a toss up on speakers at that point. The bad cat speakers are a little warmer to me than v30’s. I don’t know what Mesa is using now. But the UK made celestions bad cat has made for them are killer. I’d personally go bad cat. You can sit in front of those speakers for a longer period of time without ear fatigue
All though I am not a guitar player. I really do appreciate how you find your place in any song you do and do not over stay your welcome be it with Rick Springfield, Peter Cetera, Phil Collins. I have a Diezel VH2 (2 channel version of VH4) and this Bad Cat Lynx 50w handwired too, and the Bad Cat has more than twice the gain of the Diezel on High Gain channel....this Bad Cat has monster Gain even on the Crunch channel (GAIN 1)..without any boost or pedal....if you put a 12ax7 7025 EH on V1 and aTAD 12AX7 RED BASE on V2 you increase the tightness and definition a lot over the stock preamp valves.....and you have the same exact body and gain and sustain even at volumes lower than bedroom volume....monster Noise Gate is nice, but useless cause this amp is very quiet for the gain it has
The amp sounds great imo. The price is very reasonable for a USA made from a small company these days. I still think the VH4 or the Herbert are hard to beat if you have the cash.

This sounded pretty darn good. The great thing about this jam room is that you could put a 20 lb turkey in there at the beginning of your session and it would be ready by the time folks start to show up for dinner. My room gets warm with just one tube amp running.

I just went with Synergy amps. That way I can get any clean or gain module I want and swap back and forth in one tube head. Sounds glorious, and so convenient.
Have to say the Fuchs ODSii is still the best amp I’ve ever owned out of 35+ ? You owe it to yourself to try one Tim. Andy is very easy to reach by the way. Great guy to deal with.
Hi Tim . I hope you and your Family are doing well and staying safe . I absolutely love every one of your Videos and your Channel . All of your Content is treasure . One of your Videos from last year you were showing examples of your Rhythm playing styles and you also explained why you sometimes used different Picks . Such as the Dunlop Purple Sharp . My Question is , when playing Lead Solo's , if you're using that Pick do you prefer Alternate Picking or Economy Picking ? Thanks Tim . I hope you're doing well . 🎸

The vh4 is popular for its brutal yet beautiful high gain indeed. But it’s also an insanely flexible amp. It’ll cover pretty much all genres from rockabilly to death metal. The lynx is a great amp and may even be better than the vh4 in certain applications. But if I had a chance to choose between a lynx and vh4 it would be a total no brainer. Give me the vh4
Hey Tim! Long time subscriber, just watched the live aid video again, and realized how much work you were doing with Rick. Seriously one of these days we need a run down on that white strat. Gtr synth? While we're at it the "love somebody solo" always been a fave and my vote for best 4 bar solo!
Why doesn't anyone talk about the Marshall JVM 210H? Not only the "most" gain, the best gain! The Line 6 HD100 Bogner 100 watt head and 412 cab has more killer gain and tube power for the $ than ANY amp out there! Master of Puppets rythm punch with Ozzy's Randy Rhodes Tribute Live album lead guitar sounds to George Lynch Dokken huge stadium lead sounds. Awesome!! Run both amps in stereo and you've got the best, loudest most beautiful rock/metal guitar sound that can't be beat. And you can get the Marshall jvm 210H, the Line6 HD100 Bogner head, and 2 Marshall 412 Cabs (any decent cabs) used for $2,000 or under. You will not be disappointed. Sean Black
Bad Cat is a little too Vox-y to pull off real high-gain chug if that’s the goal, but the amp sounds amazing for what it does do. Very transparent and clear, even when all gained up. Brendan from Circa Survive has used BC amps for a while, and I think this one nails that sound, a very contemporary, complex high-gain sound. For true chug, though, I think it’s still gotta be Diezel, Mesa, Peavey, or maybe Orange.
It’s sweet you know Brendan lol he turned me on to Bad Cat and I also noticed them in some Porcupine Tree live performances. Tbh Brendan has some of my favorite guitar tones I’ve ever heard so I kind of need one of these lol
I have the first iteration of this amp. I bought it brand new in 2009. It 2-ch's -- one is super clean and two is full on high gain. Love it -- still my main "go-to" for most of the stuff I play. It has completely separate signal paths for both channels, so I can use it with an a/b switch and have different pedals in front of each. This newer version sounds great and I like the built -in things you can do to sculpt tones on each channel.
Yours might be more versatile actually with the totally clean channel... i'm going to tell them that they should make two versions one like yours and one like this new one:)
@@timpierceguitar Well, if there's someone Bad Cat should take advice from it's definitely you. The clean channel is very clean -- dare I say in the Twin camp minus reverb. Take pedals well. Also, mine has a half power switch and a switch that boosts the overall lowend response of the amp. I will never sell it -- it just sounds too good.
