  • Listening to the idle on my WR450 to determine if I still need to drop the pilot jet 1 size.
It runs beautifully when the choke is slightly pulled out and since the choke seems to let in LOTS of air on this Keihin carb, I can only guess that it stutters as you ride it because it's still too rich.

I did figure it out. I had to raise the pilot one jet size because I was running too lean. If it runs better on choke (cutting air flow and adding fuel) then the pilot is lean. If you can turn the mixture screw out more than 3 full turns and it still isn't right, you need to decrease the pilot by 1 size. I raised it 1 size and it idles great!

If you turn the fuel screw more than 3 turns then you need a BIGGER pilot. If the bike runs with the fuel screw all the way in or less than 1 turns out then you will need a smaller pilot

Since this video I've learned a LOT about carburetors. When I did this video, I never bothered to do a plug check, so it took me longer to dial in than it should have.

You are doing it the wrong way ... stop counting and start listening ! Also after any kind of adjustment to the idle speed screw you need to give it a handfull of gas and let the revs drop so you know where you are. If you are just turning and waiting the result will be with a huge lag.

did you figure it out? you might be able to adjust your air mixture screw and not have to change the jet

Tengo uno de eso muchas luchas para prenderlo

Hello! I had the same problem with the WR 450f. Try to do as in the movies, I helped.
