I was fortunate enough to be in my vehicle when I found this piece today. I connected my phone to the stereo via bluetooth and turned the volume up. A lot. Sounded good, Richard!
I mean no disrespect to King Charles but for 70yrs it was played for her late majesty Queen Elizabeth n I so miss seeing that proud lovely woman who was the head of an empire standing there I’m an American n it always moved me to tears Bless her Memory n God Save The King 🙋🏼♀️
I remember our singing God Save the King here in Australia until February 1952, then adjusted to the change. As it is no longer our National Anthem, it is known as the Royal Anthem. I don't recall when it was last used. From my local music shop, in Geelong, I bought a copy of the 1953 Coronation Service, red bound, gold stamped, which contained this arrangement, along with every word spoken, every note sung, every acclamation, every action described in majectic rubrics. I still have the book. Many thanks, as ever, for your playing and your videos. 🇦🇺
"I don't recall when it was last used" - it was quietly dropped from ANZAC Day services when the organisers capitulated to the republican push. They have capitulated to worse in more recent years.
Southwark Cathedral is a very special cathedral to me, as it is the earliest cathedral I remember visiting. It is also conveniently located near London Bridge station. When Dolores O'Riordan died in 2018, I went to Southwark Cathedral the next day and lit a candle.

Beautiful silvery mixtures (much like Schulze). Principal chorus in the goldilocks zone. Perfect English trombone in the pedal. Heartfelt performance that hits one in the feels. This is magnificent!
"Lord grant that Marshal Wade, May by thy mighty aid, Victory bring. May he sedition hush, And like a torrent rush, Rebellious Scots to crush, God Save the King."
There’s a whole generation alive today that growing up would’ve heard “back in my day it was god save the king” and they themselves will one day say “back in my day it was god save the queen”
First time hearing that intro (sheltered American). Cool! And the instrument is magnificent! And it was my patron saint’s feast day as well. Thank you - it was wonderful as always…
That.. Was wonderful to hear. But Interesting to Read!.. I'd never gotten to know the original words to the melody..! Thank You for sharing This!👍🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🙏🏾
As with the other comments fantastic. Ps I often listen/watch the Live broadcasts from York Minster. The organ there has only recently been restored and a couple of days after the Queen passed away they played/sang National Anthem at the end of the regular Sunday service. The Archbishop who only the day before was assisting at Windsor was the celebrant. The sound was fantastic. The livestream recording at the time are still available
Same difficulty applies to me too. I am British and was born in the Queen's coronation year 1953. - And when I hear about 'The Prince of Wales' I still automatically think of Charles and not William. (Senior moments I suppose).
@@snowwhitehair485 I'm one of those Australians who was born in the time when we were confused about what our National Anthem was - we would sing God Save the Queen first, then Advance Australia Fair! (Whilst I love our anthem and sing it with gusto, it just doesn't have the same grunt as God Save the [monarch] played on a pipe organ!)
I've seen some of the most complex and sophisticated organs. That's without any modern Tech! All the levers, push-pull thingies, etc. for the Foot Keyboard, there are no actual notes written! Instead, you see numbers under the staff. That's called "Figured Bass"!! I learned about that in Freshman Music Theory!!

I can not get a principle and need to ask. Are these music-pieces separated for kings and queens? Because i can’t understand why is the queen not mentioned.
The right thing would be if they could forgive harry for things.i would understand if they didn't forgive meghan for telling harry how horrible his family is. If only if he would have married a nice br😂girl that loved a respected the royal family like Catherine does

I think Gordon Jacobs' fanfare should be declared to be the official introduction to the anthem. Absolutely magnificent. And nice reredos.
The David Willcocks one is also good. His last verse is better in my opinion.

The best stadium organ ever. It's a real organ, not an electronic keyboard.

Grand, splendid, glorious, stirring ... I could go on, 😉
This should be played at the Paedo Dome AKA Celtic Park every week.
So beautiful, the voices blend so well together.
What a powerful and emotional song, well done.🎵❤
God Save The King!
from an anglophile in the east🇬🇧🇵🇭💗
Extremely well done. Right pace, straightforward and legato.
Splendid! it's marvellous to hear the fanfare before too.
I love Southwark, and always recommend a visit there to anyone traveling! 😍🇬🇧😍

"Lord grant that Marshal Wade, May by thy mighty aid, Victory bring. May he sedition hush, And like a torrent rush, Rebellious Scots to crush, God Save the King."
Best playing I've ever heard.
Magnificent rendition of the anthem. I have happy memories of Southwark Cathedral and Dorcas, the feline resident and overseer of the cathedral.
That’s the way to do it! Always start the anthem with Jacob’s fanfare, to give the congregation time to rise up and stand! 😇🇬🇧
Long live our king
Hermoso 👍😊

This is BIS 700th Video I think! And what a great video it is.
Awesome
Well played!

Splendid rendition - Love the fanfare - Might try it on Sunday -
Magnificent.
Years ago, there was the one & only King for people in my country, from Heavenly Kingdom. Laudetur Iesus Christus 🙏
What an amazing rendition of our National Anthem. What a tremendous and powerful sound. Thank you, Richard, for this.
Stunning! Thank you!
I'm crying now, are you happy?

Still hard for me to change Queen to King. And I am an American.

I'm sure King Charles III will be impressed upon listening to the version of "God Save the King".
King of Kings Lord of Lords King and Savior Jesus!
The imaginary sky daddies didn’t build or play the organ. Humans did.

It sounds like wedding in a church.
can i have sheet music?
I can not get a principle and need to ask. Are these music-pieces separated for kings and queens? Because i can’t understand why is the queen not mentioned.
God Bless King Charles the III.
🇯🇲🇬🇧
the king does not desrve this beautiful music, he does nothing to the riots, he wants them!
Great! Now --- If we can just get Chas back to being Defender of THE Faith. Singular and stop the WOKISM
Heil dir im Siegerkranz
I am Loyalist. God save King Charles

Isn't it named God save the Queen?
Not since the Queen died, no
it depends on the reigning monarch's gender, King Charles' predessesor was his mom therefore it was known before as God save the Queen.
