Chaing Rai Northern Thailand,
Wow GT thanks for the shut out! That makes me feel extremely proud. Thank you for everything you have done for me, your a true legend! Mark
Mate it was a pleasure working with you, as well you know I have always had an appreciation for your drive and determination as well as your ability to seize an opportunity. Perhaps one day you will see the Bamboo in the garden for yourself. Keep your head down and prep buddy dark days are coming in the UK. GT
My vote would be to stay where you are Gordon, you have such a good setup there and as you have said it would take many years to get a new place setup close to what you already have.
Yes Stephen, we will see what the near future brings. GT
That place you have now is perfect, to start all over again, especially with Thai builders would be a nightmare! It would however give you great content for your channel which I like to dip into every now and again :)
Thank you Anthony, I would have Bryan build the new place so no worries with Thai builders.
,,get rid of the animals and lazy relatives and enjoy the little slice of paradise you have built. keep safe amigo
Other than May wanting something smaller and more manageable I see no point in moving.
Thank you GT.
Stay where you are mate. Ya too old now. A joy to have a baby around😀😀😀really Gordon? Be careful matey.
Mark. Otto The baby is now 10 months old, every morning he greets me with a smile, when I sing to him he dances with great enthusiasm, he pulls himself up on the rails of his play pen and to all intense and purpose try's to communicate with me. Yes 100% Mark he is pure joy. GT
I say sell to me on the cheap and move on 😁
On a serious note, your abode and land looks perfect to me, but got to do what's right for you, We'll still be watching and dreaming 🙏
Stay where you are
Hi Paul, lets see what the overall consensus is, I do like a challenge even at my age. GT
If May and you want to take on the challenge go for it. you are never to old.
I think the tall flowers are a type of cosmos.
I would stay Gordon mate just sort out the place to make it what makes you happy. A beautiful place you have there 😊😊😊
Stay and enjoy the fruits of your labour......simples!!...and yes the brown and smelly is going to hit the fan in no uncertain terms imho.
I think you hit the nail on the head, when you said would you live long enough to see the fruit on a new property. Personally if your house was mine it would break my heart to leave it, especially all the time, effort, and planning that you have invested into it. A very big dilemma indeed Gordon.
Thanks Rob, we will see what the near future brings. GT
The views on the new plot are spectacular. But you are already living in paradise. I don't think it will get better then paradise. At least not within 10 years or so (trees need to grow again). So in my opinion... stay where you are now.
Secure the new piece of land but ride out the worst of the storm where you are whilst you make your plans for the new home. Yes, I have done some prepping. Later this month I will have a new wood burning stove. I already have bought the oak logs. My Thai wife thinks I am a little ting tong stocking up tin and dried food. I hope one day we will meat again in the land of smiles. Good luck Gordon.
May thinks the same Stan, I just smile and buy more when she is not looking! 555
You have a beautiful homestead there.
Stay Gordon. Too many memories and hard work in that house.
To be honest GT, I think you would regret such a move. Change for change sake is not always a good concept. If you are mostly happy where you are then stay. If you are unhappy then move. From the looks of most of your videos I think you are happy where you are.
Your trees will miss you, not to mention, all the wild things you feed and they know you will keep them happily treated.
Dry beans and rice, Gordon. That's what I've been stockpiling. If things get really bad, I can eat it plain. If things get not-so-bad there's all sorts of yummy courses that they can become.
You are a clever man Keith so many will perish in what is heading our way, The train will hit them and they will be surprised where it came from. GT
Awesome garden 🪴👍👍👍
Thank you TY. GT
Presuming money is not an issue, buy the land and make a small 2nd home. Something old, something new
At our age, I’d stay put and just do the enhancements you were talking about. Who needs the aggravation.
If you win the land then develop it and sell it on. That’s my tuppence worth.
Sure you’ll do the right thing for the family.
Do you really want to start over again? Your property is such a great place, but in the end your decision. 🇦🇺🇦🇺👍👍
Improvise and adapt on the estate you have now, or, buy the new land, build, stay on at your place now and try the new place out and compare, then, sell one or the other.
I want to see the hydroponics going again! I enjoyed your videos awhile back on that setup. 😊
Hi frank. I have never had hydroponics it is aquponics and you will go to the ball Cinders soon. GT
@@gordontickle1673 oh yes aquaculture, you know I turned 68 today so that explains everything!
I think you have a fantastic place, I would stay and make the changes you mentioned in the vlog but that's me, I know whatever decision you make it will all be good in the end.
About preparing for the future yes always a good idea to prepare for a rainy day - I think the storm is coming.
Hi Paul, it is more than a storm buddy more like a hurricane. GT
I’ve always enjoyed your garden walk arounds Gordon. The variety of plants and trees you have on your land is amazing. Perhaps you buy the new land develop it and keep your existing home? The upkeep of two homes would be a concern, but you could get some help from the Thai family or others. Whatever you decide, we would appreciate you sharing your experiences on your vlog 😊
Thanks Mark. GT
The only positive I can see from you moving, is the numerous video rants about being let down by builders/ suppliers. All the best mate. I’m back in January btw.
555. I would just get Bryan to build and sit back and watch. GT
Write a list of the advantages and disadvantages of moving for each place. I think you'll find that staying will out way moving.
That is known as the Duke of Wellington technique, good advice thank you. GT
I think you should stay where you are, you got all you need on your land, a very lovely land you have to Gordon. I am in Noen Sayam now and want very much like to visit you.
Sure Gunnar visit any time
Clean up your workshop and keep on top of things at your home. You do not need more land. But sell the cows which are nothing but aggravation.
Flowers and birds give a return of delight.
100% stay! And …… and I’d miss it. It’s very relaxing to see you wondering around your garden talking to us as you go. The garden brings out the best in you. It’s wonderful to listen to you a man of great eloquence and delightful northern tones. Your garden is better than Kew Gardens - it’s a belta, like. So there you have it this hard leftist says don’t move. And if you do I’ll call on every subscriber to go on bloody strike!
Spoken like a true Commy! 555 G-Day Dai. Yes I love this place and I would miss it we will see what happens over the next few weeks Dai, whatever it is it will be an adventure as always. GT
You deserve much more subscribers , what you did in TH with your effort and the wish to build such a wonderful place and then the farm with cattle and the fish pond, - is there any more peoples who did such a fantastic living place, not only for Your own but for your Thai familys future ? Big lovely Heart you have !💝amazing Gordon !
Thank you Fioretta, as they say the road to hell is paved with good intentions, I built the farm from a western prospective when my Thai family only wanted a quiet life of hunter gathering. Perhaps Didos family my work it properly in future generations. GT
@@gordontickle1673 lovely good morning Gordon ! i never think of hell, i prefer the Heaven lol ! the work you do isnt useless, some day the family will recognise it....
i wish you happyness and its good to be proud of yourself for all you did in the best way !
Grass looks greener on the other side but you’ve still got to mow it
The Rolling Stones wrote, "Doom and Gloom" With your place, Utopia"! I bought several lots of land in Udon, Thani fifteen years ago. My strategy was to make several offers and then the Thais understood their problem was with another Thai, not me. The thais then reduced the prices. In Thailand nobody has money and two rai small. I built a small 2 room house on our farm.
You are so gloomy today. Our farm has fish, ducks, chickens, veg and fruit . etc. Yours seem a mirror image so why move?
You should consider a Sunday am visit to speakers corner !
Without a doubt stay and develop. I think anyone would regret selling your beautiful finca casa. It truly is one off.
It's going to be freezing
What a vlog. Loved it
Thankyou
Hi Darren I mention whats happening because I care about people, lets be honest the Governments could care less about the populous in all countries, as Henry Kissinger said last year on a hot Mic, "The retired are useless eaters"! GT
Hard decision Gordon ...if your happy where you are why torment yourself ? Its never a easy thing moving from a home that youve created especially when you get older , hard enough leaving your own country to move to Asia , then you were younger , you have a beautiful place now , you can still change your present home with out much work , expense and the added worry of creating somewhere new n added problems .... not easy and something only you and May can decide .... good luck in your decision Gordon ...perhaps a few sleepless nights deciding lol
Thanks Will good advice. GT
Batten down mate
Good advice Lynn
If it really does hit the fan, city folk will come and take what you have, and there wont be much you could do to stop them.
Won''t happen Stephen, There are to many much more easy targets than me and our family who have a number of weapons and many fists.
As you said Gordon “selling your HOME” - it’s home and you don’t seem that unhappy if the bid did not win.
Maybe on a side note, if pushed into the new land, if pushed is the right word, then as a quid pro quo may be as a deal maker that the farm is returned with the opportunity to let out to a young couple who don’t have closed minds on how to run the place.
Never mind toxic debt - the U.K. has a toxic government- the currency company I use are predicting 35 b to £1 by spring 🥴
In 1605 on 5th November was the last time a honourable man set foot in Parliament 🙂
Hello Gordon, 💛a wonderful video (stunning garden ! 😍) but oh my, gives me a bit of heart pain, watching the "Villa Gordon" from high up with the drone, i would say, Mae and You did buillt a little Kingdome !You have all you need right know, and a family comunity 💝....so i would say " never change a winning horse " (or House) ! ....or if possible, buy the land and sell it later?
Yes Fioretta that is a good plan, I will speak to May about it. GT
Stay Gordon the place is too good to give up to start again.I didn't think you need the money from the sale, just do the improvements much easier and you do not lose your beautiful Orchard all the best Mike
Stay, it a beautiful place. Why start again
Best to stay where you are with a depression on it's way. There'd be nothing worse than trying to build and develope a new place with a possible shortage of equipment and materials. Plus you already have a natural food source on your doorstep. It will take at least 4-5 years to get new plantations to a fruiting / harvesting level. For the past 10 years, we have been preparing for retirement to Thailand next September. We had our 3 bed house on the outskirts of Korat completed last June. My wife already had 2, 2 bed houses in Korat city, which she has rented out for the last 23 years. We have a 2.5 rai plot in Thep Sathit, which has a 15M X 20M X 10 pond full of fish, an abundance of different fruits, herbs and spices. We call it our w/end allotment retreat......lol. We have also another 1/2 rai 6km away from the 2.5 rai. We've recently purchased 300 Tarang Wah in Wiang Kao for possible investment or future build. I think you could safely say that we have being preparing for quite a while. Even if I don't manage to make next September, at least my wife and step-daughter will not want for anything.
well done Callum, it is going to get very very cold outside
Stay you don’t need all the stress.
A good point well made Stephen. GT
I am currently in Nakhon Sawan and I learned one thing, once you have a place that you know is flood free, there is no reason to go down a path of building and learning new water flows. My advice, expand on what you have!
Make sense Dirk. GT
Only you and Mae can make the decision, nobody else. Do what your feeling tells you what is the right thing to do. Whatever decision you make, it is the correct one. As long as you and Mae have a good feeling about it. Good luck with your decision!
Thanks Adriaan, we appreciate your thoughts. GT
I reckon you'd be mad to start again, Gordon. Your place now is so beautiful and productive it'd be a damned shame to walk away from it now. I understand that the final decision won't be yours, so good luck! 🙏👍🤞
Ho ho ho ho Lom, the final decision will be mine as I hold the purse strings. GT
You will leave this land toes up feet first,. I wish only the best.
Gordon I think you should stay. It's not because I am afraid of change but as you say the world financial situation is grave. It's just a matter of
time. I don't ant to sound like a prophet of doom, but it's a reality.
.
Hello AJ. you are spot on the cold is heading the worlds way very very soon. GT
Stay put - as you are pretty much self-sufficient now! Just a thought, but could you possibly sell your surplus fresh fruit & veg at your local market? (Bit like doing a car boot sale in Manchester). I've followed the growth of your garden, almost, from day one.
Hi Garry yes as I said we give it away we have so much. GT
Your house is in a beautiful area of Thailand, you have a mature garden which produces more than you can eat so why are punishing yourself thinking about moving and start building a new house with all the stresses of a new build trust me nothing goes right first time plus it hasn't got a mature garden which as you said you might not be around to enjoy.
Things are really getting tight here in the UK with energy bills I'm estimating £80-90 on gas and £50-60 electricity every month which most of the time I'm never at home last year's monthly was £40 gas and £30 electricity and now they are talking about another price increase next year, price of food has doubled, price of fuel is going through the roof so there isn't much change out of my salary to buy extra food I'm expecting things to be worse than 2008/9 recession, the sooner the better I retire and move permanently to Thailand at least I won't be frozen because I can't afford to put the heating on.
Good luck with your decision move and build a new home or stay and hunker down and wait for the global recession to come because it will come within the next few years if Bill Gates, George Soros and the rest of the billionaire globalists have anything to do with it or the mad man Putin and dementia ridden Joe Biden start WW3 throwing nuclear weapons at each other.
So much thought and care went into your home… I couldn’t sell it.
Yes Nate you are spot on it has been a labour of Love for many years and May has worked hard in the garden. GT
Buy the land and build a “weekend cottage”…….keep your home.
IMO, Gordon, I'd stay put, and do you what you were thinking about the on-suite, deck etc..and if anything keep adding to your food forest. And your right, its going to beep in a hand basket.. invest in a freeze dryer to preserve more food, and maybe add to your solar.
And yes the beep is very close now....
Stay
Thanks Raymond. GT
Stay!
Can you stay and buy the new land? build a small villa on it? That will give M her land and you a big project and then see what happens.
Yes I could do just that, however it would be a stretch. GT
i would say more pragmatic to stay, as i said when u were first looking at the lot. crazy to move now but still maybe a good investment?
Yes Dale you are spot on the lot would be a great investment. GT
Go go go...new venture...new exciting future... doing something that you know about building a new home...it will take your mind off to keep saying that you won't be around to see this and that. Sorry to go against everyone else, but just my halfpenny worth. Burnley Bob, now in Thailand. Go for it Gordon.
Stay
You really don't want the nightmare Noi and I are living. Trying to get any thing built
Hi Nigel I would just get Bryan to build and he can have all the headaches! 555
I suggest you stay where you are.
By asking the question your being passive aggressive. Deep down you want to stay. You'll be carried out of there in a box my friend. 😁
Or buried in the Orchard CJ 555
@@gordontickle1673 No, shit for brains down the farm will probably feed you to the fish. 😆
Stay in Paradise GT. Why change something that isn't broken. You're getting too old mate to do it all over again. Bushyboy Oz.
Ewen as Doc Holiday said in Tombstone, "Retired, Not me I am in my Prime" 555
Do as may tells you to do do😅
555, happy wife happy life Andrew
If you do move, for goodness sake, get a better riding lawnmower.
Home is where the heart is GT.
Should you stay or build new;
I can see that you love your "Estate" very much so why should you throw it away in a time like this and thinking of thai construktionworkers, they wil give you a hard time and not a happy time.
Ofcourse you are married and your wife has her own ideas about the new spot of land and future and so on. ( I have a Thai wife also and if they want something they will get it anyway 😉)
So i wish you good luck in the decision making, life is short and enjoy every day you have in your paradise on that hillside.
😊
WHY!!! at your age mate do you want to start over again?

How much could you command for your place?? I say move. If what you had was perfect why would you even be considering.
Your never too old…… get gone is what I say
Hello Jungle Book, or may I address you as Rudyard? The price would be less than a semi detached house in the UK.
@@gordontickle1673 no thank you……. Mr Kipling is just fine. 🤫
Sir, if you sell your land , how many baht ? I so interest
8m THB
I fail to see what the "quandary" is. You have a great spot where you are, so why would you want to start all over again? If, or when, the SHTF, there is SFA any of us can do about it, so you might as well sit back, relax and enjoy what you have.
Stay at home!
Gordon, other people would kill to have what you've got. Don't let it slide, remember your age is a factor here, you are not a young man anymore. Another thing is that you put your heart into the development of this place, I know, every now & then the urge to do something new does arise, but give it the time it will sort itself out. Listening to you it seems that you are frustrated with all the family's hiccups, laziness & excuses plus the sister has come plonked herself at your expense with everything to her advantage. I had the same situation & know exactly what you are going through.
Advice put your foot down & enforce your rules. They will be mad at you for a while but it soon blows over. Improve on what you have & enjoy it. Greeting from Khon Kaen.
Sound advice Lou, My biggest problem is as Rock's trainer once said " The problem is Rock, Your mind is writing checks your body can't cash" 555 Still 18 from behind the eyes but wonder what my dad is doing in my mirror? GT
@@gordontickle1673 Very well-spoken GT. Sometimes the old saying has more substance than the actual event. Old wisdom never fails. Yes, being in your shoes, you are the only one who knows the answer. It does not matter what other opinions may suggest, the final decision is yours. Good luck with what you decide.
How much if May stays with the old place?

What makes you think we dont have them Raymond?
This seems to be more your wife’s decision to move ,rather than yours, unfortunately that seems to be the Thai way lol....otherwise it could be the silent treatment for you GT 555 🙏🏻
I know a lot of your subscribers who would love for you to turn the house into a Bed and Breakfast.
Might just do that Brad. GT
