How to EASILY REPLACE A FUEL PUMP in Chevy S-10 (Jimmy Sonoma Hombre S-15) - Project S10 (Ep.9)

Episode 9 in the Project S10 Build series - The Fuel Pump had to be replaced. Not a huge project but it feels like it before you begin. Here's how to easily remove the bed and replace the fuel pump in an S10 - same for most trucks in this class including Sonoma, S15 and Hombre.

I upgraded my fuel pump with a Walbro 255 in preparation for an LS swap before watching this video. I had watched some other videos. After I did fuel pump job and it ops checked good, a short time later I had a no start condition. After some trouble shooting without success, I just happened to be watching this video ^ and at about the 3:10 minute mark, I realized what I had done. After removing the bed, I had left the ground to the fuel pump loosely attached which effectively ungrounded the fuel pump circuit. This video saved me from having to hire a real mechanic to get me going again. Thank you.

My 98 Sonoma the eight bolts holding the bed on came off smooth as silk with a breaker bar that was a relief!

Damn man you must be in the northeast your frame and all under the bed is rusted as F lol I need to find out if my ground is hood because my gas gauge is not working good video

Great video.Seems easy enough. Thank you. Just one question, do you need to do anything else with the rear tail lights? I mean you showed the two ground straps, but do you need to remove the tail lights and wiring?

That is correct. There’s a couple of harnesses you disconnect. The ground straps are just the only ones wired with bolts.
