It's hard to come up with new abilities for new characters that don't make them too strong (since there seems to be some kind of unspoken rule that no sonic character can ever be stronger than sonic himself and equals can only be made in the form of rivals).
Amy has a hammer, and whisper has a omni gun, capable of a fuckin shit ton. Weapons don't need to be related to the animal at question. In this case, it's just a representation of a wispon designed for the rhythm wisp, focusing on support. Yeah sure, it matches the rest of the outfit and is striking, but it honestly could have been a set of headphones and a microphone, or a megaphone, and nobody would bat an eye.

There's just too many reasons for us not to. 1. She believed "Duo" when he told 2 conflicting stories. First, he told her that he couldn't save Silver, implying he thought he was dead; then, when Silver accused him of abandoning him, he said, IN FRONT OF LANOLIN, he was going to get help, implying he thought Silver was alive. 2. If she wanted proof that Duo is Mimic, she could have investigated the matter herself, instead of turning a deaf ear to Silver and Whisper's claims. In fact, "Duo" seems to be the only one she actually favors, implying she's sticking up for him simply because he's a nobody like her! 3. She bullied Tangle into agreeing with her by shooting her a death glare; need I elaborate?! 4. She literally has no room to talk! Saying that she and Whisper are both soldiers was stupid, as Lanolin never fought in the War while Whisper did! She's literally the least experienced of as well as the weakest of the heroes, if you even want to call her one; she isn't fit to be a leader. The only reason she's leader; is for the out of comic reason that she has nothing else going for her. 5. She doesn't seem to realize that her comrades view her as a friend, thus doesn't reciprocate that value. Friendship is a CRUCIAL value among Sonic and friends; ALL of them value it (yes, even Team Dark). This makes her a nasty blot on the heroes' side. 6. Her actions allowed Clutch and Mimic to further their plans! To summarize; she's stupid, bigoted, biased, callous, out of line, a bad leader, a terrible friend, and has ended up helping evil people because of it. What is there NOT to hate about her?!
@@videogollumer according to the wiki, the stress of putting the team together and concern about the restorations humanitarian methods had gotten to her. you may be right about how Lanolin's actions, stuborness and self-importance have acted as a catalyst to Clutch and Mimic's plans, (and Silver's hasty actions in trying to expose Mimic I will concede) and i am a bit frustrated myself at her, but wrong to fully hate her, since she's not actually evil and it's really Mimic we should be hatting at the moment; he REALLY needs a humiliating defeat, maybe the same kind as Starline's before his, apparent, demise. I'm kind of in the middle actually (I even WANT to be) between you and @loiisailor1177, and i admit i can flip-flop now and then between hating Lanolin and cutting her some slack. after all, during issue 58, she admitted she was bossy and less experienced and asked her to be patient with her, like with Whisper's issues. when Mimic gets exposed, i still don't know when and how, and by GOD the synopsis for issue 69 and onward STILL isn't on the wiki, Lanolin better get some character development, and maybe take a leave of absence to get more experience, and maybe team up with Blaze since she had a similar story. I despise Lanolin the sheep and I don't like her working with or being Teamed with Tangle and Whisper. They were better without her and she was better just being a background character just popping up once in a while. After what she did to Silver and turning everyone against him I'll NEVER forgive her and NEVER accept her as part the Sonic crew. I just wanna turn her into Lambchops. And I honestly don't care if the fandom hates me for hating her.
I can understand why people dislike her, and yes sometimes writers will change a characters personality on the fly to help make the plot go forward even if it's out of character for them (How Ian Flynn writes Shadow). But I think the hate is sorta on the line yeah her not hearing silver out and just blaming him doesn't make her look good, but after the whole metal virus and being put in charge of a team of misfits to help the resistance only proves to show she was taking on all the responsibilities with no help. If anything Lanolin is taking her position to seriously to the point she has become a toxic leader, not due to her ego but due to her own fear and worries shes basically trying to over manage so nothing and no one gets hurt, and if she has to cut ties with people she used to trust and work with she will do it.
And sure people are comparing her to Sally but there's a difference to Sally and Lanolin . Sally and Sonic had a great dynamic, I'm mainly speaking about their roles in the freedom fighters, Sally was a leader planing out and thinking about the possibilities of what could go wrong during one of there missions, taking everything into consideration and weighing the odds, while Sonic was a free roaming Scout, he played by his own rules at times yes, but he still managed to be a team player when he was truly relied on. Lanolin was a refuge taken in by the resistance, she had little to no connections to Sonic and his friends and most likely looked up to them due to seeing how they risked everything for the safety of others she most likely felt she had to toughen herself up to prove herself thus making herself become cold.
