Remember during the pandemic when everyone was adopting pets? I feel like a lot of those babies ended up back at the shelters. Heartbreaking. Thank God for Asher House and the rescue community.
I had the same thought. How they could use them and dump them when their lives got back to normal is unconscionable😢

Feel like? NYT tried to blame the city for a homeless cat problem and not the nouveau owners on them literally dumping their frightened cats and kittens. Additionally, thoroughly reported in the summer of 2020 that this is precisely what has happened. The current bust and still depressing economy also is not helping
I am in the UK and at the time you could see it coming a mile off, once everybody was back at work and school they would be discarded, the cost of living crisis hasnt helped either.

Will this world ever be perfect? Will this world ever show mercy for these abandoned dogs? These small acts of kindness is how Lee changes this sad world. To leave this world better one day than you found it, sometimes you have to pick up other people's trash. These dogs were thrown out like a trash, but often one's abandoned trash becomes a new found treasure for others. You saw the beauty in these pups, not the dirty, worthless, leftover debris of their shattered lives. Thank you for saving them and giving them a new lease of life. 🍀👋🐾🙏♥️👍
Well said! I just don’t understand the way people act sometimes and their reasoning behind just dumping their pets so that they become someone else’s problem! I have loved each and every one of my pets and would do anything necessary to keep them safe and happy with me. I could NEVER give up on any of my pets! I have always adopted rescue dogs and cats from shelters and have found that these dogs/cats are so loving and loyal. All they ask for is a second chance to love and be loved. 💕😊🐶👍💕

The little one, Belly, a Dachshund, had a partial tongue amputation ( she is doing fine, as we taught her to drink and eat again using her remaining tongue), the other one, Tesla, a beautiful Hun Vizsla has two tumours on her chest, one is growing faster than we anticipated it, but we were advised not to operate as it would cause more complications, and the deep wound would not heal well getting infected which would cause her an earlier death. We chose not to cause her unnecessary pain with operations and chemo, which we could afford, we just try to avoid more suffering to our precious girl. Many would not care, but I do, we do, and I pay for very expensive medication to keep her immune system stronger to fight cancer. I would never throw her/ them away. I myself cannot comprehend those heartless people, who treat their pets like an old rag throwing them out like a garbage, causing distress, suffering and often death to their once loved pets. Humanity does not deserve these beautiful devoted animals. They do not ask for much, just a little food and love. Dogs understand more about humans' behaviour than humans do about theirs. The sad thing is that people become more heartless because of the hardship many have to face these days. That's what makes this world a sad, dysfunctional place to be in. If we cannot protect the most vulnerable, how can we protect humanity, the emvironment, our beautiful planet...No one cares! And that is a sad thing to face when I think about my grandchildren's future....How are the next generations going to manage in this harsh world? My heart absolutely stopped when I saw the old English sheepdogs. I just lost my 5 y/o OES to cancer so seeing these amazing dogs find a happy ending brings tears to my eyes. They are truly such a special breed. Thank you for all you do!!!💖💖💖 PS would adopt Mickey and Minnie in a heart beat will be looking out for their info!

OES are the best. I had one for 13 years and she passed also from cancer. We lost her almost four years ago and i don't know anyone in my surrounding that doesn't shed a tear while talking about her. For me it's the ultimate breed.

I'm totally with you on the government spay and neuters! I've been disgusted with our government for a long time for not having something so necessary, important, and humane, already in place.
@@Norah56s MANY places offer LOW COST Spay and Neuter and shot clinics, no excuse to not be responsible and vet. your dogs. People who can't afford to care for pets should not have them. Not directed at you if you care for yours......just my opinion in general.

I can see, in the future...25 years and it's still going on...I can see an old man....white hair, baseball cap and still happy, still loving each to his home and his business. Asher House is really large now and takes in even more dogs than ever before and a whole lot more now. I can see this happening.

Would love to see the Old English sheep dogs after they have been groomed! We rescued a OE mix from our local shelter. What a great dog! And our boy has a great wonderful tail!
We have the same prb in Sweden there have never been so many abandon dogs left to the shelters here then it is now. Something have to change because as it is right now its only the rich that can afford to have pets the rest of us are on our knees. Not that i would ever leave my dog because my dog comes first but i dont have children to think about in these hard times. Thank you Asher House for all you do You Are Heroes ❤️❤️❤️🙏❤️❤️❤️

I am in Texas and it is bad and we are a no restrictive euthanasia state whereas California does have Haydens law and Bowies Bill but thankfully our local shelter is reaching out to the community and just two weeks ago we brought a case of pedigree dog food, 30 pound box of milk bones, cat food, and kitty food and replacement milk and nursing kits for young kitties. It is everywhere.

As the economy worsens, there are more and more abandoned animals, especially the vet bills. Thank you for taking them!
The economy is booming, just not for little everyday ppl. Read article other day about CEO's of major grocery chains. Top one got a 61% salary increase....MILLIONS on top of millions already paid. Doubt they pay much if any taxes either.
@@marthalisk303 yep. that's the way it is set up; the corporatists rake in the money, get the tax breaks and the middle/poorer class supports them and keeps the world rolling. That said, the economy is MUCH better than it was a few years ago, but greedy businesses are still keeping prices high to keep making profit.
Yes. Economy or not- dogs are family- Anyone who would abandon a family member, for whatever reason, should never have the honor of caring for a dog in the first place. On another note: To change the economy, change the POTUS. Please vote INDEPENDENT/ RFK, Jr in 2024. The only sane option out there.

I love that handsome Rottweiler I can’t believe somebody got rid of him just because he had cheery eye He was absolutely gorgeous. I lost my Rottweiler a little over a year ago.

I rescued two senior Old English Sheepdogs several years ago - they were the best buddies ever!! They've been gone for awhile - I think about them all the time and miss them both terribly. Bless you!!

So amazing! One more consequence of the poor economy, people are dumping and abandoning animals at an alarming rate. 😢 The cost of food, veterinary services, grooming, etc... it's ridiculous!
The “economy” is not to blame. Unfettered corporate greed and Covid myopia are.
I'm a retiree on a fixed income. I have 2 dogs. Yes, the cost of their care and food has gone up, but ya know what? I would go without eating if I had to, to make sure they have what they need. I love my dogs. They're part of the family, not something to throw out like the trash just because times are tough!
These people who cry poverty and relinquish their pets should maybe consider relinquishing their iPhones or give up a few visits to Starbucks instead of dumping a sentient being that loves them unconditionally.
@@nancymizur7034 Same. Retiree. I get my cat food via Chewy. They have great discounts if you keep an eye out for them or on occasion they've sent me $20 cps. That's like a free case of 24 cans! It helps for sure. Have had impeccable service experience with them as well. Vet care is entirely a different beast. Cost me $1K to determine an inoperable tumor in one of my cats and he would only live 1 mo. RIP baby boy.
I do believe that a large amount of dumped animals is also because after the pandemic, the animals weren't convenient anymore. They "outlived" their usefulness to these people.

Yes, I love rescue Videos. But my eyes are filled with tears and I always cry. I can not understand why people are so cruel. An animal is not a toy. They need a responsible owner, who do everything for his animal. Too many people do not understand this. And this is, what the Asher house and all the other shelters makes it so important. So, thank you lee for all what you do for the animals and for us.

I was looking at the LA county dogs for adoption, and saw the rottie with he cherry eyes. I am glad that these beautiful animals are with you now, but I can’t help being particularly happy that this girl is with you. Rotties are so sensitive, and I wish I could rescue them all. Thank God there are people like you, Lee.
My heart leaped with both joy and sadness when I saw the old English sheepdogs. I rescued 2 from a puppy farm 35 years ago, a brother and sister. They are gorgeous big ol' teddy bears. Sadly Clyde passed when he was only 3 months old and Bonnie when she was 6; both had been born with congenital defeats and holes in their hearts. I didn't know until Clyde fell ill because his passing was so sudden, just a single day and he was gone. After tests I found Bonnie had the same and it was inoperable. I had the chance to love her a bit longer because the hole was internal whereas Clyde's was on the external heart wall. I still miss them so I am so glad you have these gorgeous babies........😇
