  • Hey guys, my brother wanted a walk around and sound video. He has not seen the bike yet, so I do a walk around sound check on the Delkevic exhaust.

Sweet bike man, looks good for taking an older bike and making it fit in with today's bikes, I hope you are enjoying that southern sun by now. Thanks for sharing your video.

If you still have that old header and collector I would probably be interested. Figured I’d throw it out there, been looking! Amazing bike, some inspiration for my personal build!

Thanks. I wanted to know what these sounded like before getting one of these exhaust systems. I have an old Z1 kerker system on mine that has had several owner's worth of hackery and rust happen to it.

The kz650's do not have much torque. They shine in the higher RPMS

Good looking bike. The Delvik exhaust is a little loud, but sounds pretty good. I would have left the front fender chrome if it was in good shape. Looks pretty sweet, though.

Thanks man... the exhaust is not that bad as far as sound goes. Its not annoying at cruising speed, and its really not that bad for the neighbors. I think its perfect for this type of bike. I understand why some like to keep the bike as close to the factory look as possible, but I was never a chrome guy, and to me this bike begs to be customized. The fender was in great shape but the chrome and the bracket that supported the fender was not the look I wanted. If the bike was pristine I would have kept it all stock.

Yo Ken (great screen name!) - Talk to us about the Delkovic pipe. I'm on a MAC that came with my 650....and it has next to nothing up on the high end. Carbs need more tuning, but this isn't my first old Japanese 4cyl. I can tell the pipe is holding it back a hair. Plus...it sounds like a beer can exhaust at about 4500rpm. It's awful. Delk's are cheap, compared to the mighty Kerker....which a lot of the OG on the KZrider forum claim aren't nearly as good as the old ones. Wondering if I should just go for it. I'm on stock carbs, 100 mains. 15 pilots. Needles at richest notch. KN pods. Don't need a full carb break down from you at all, but just curious on your thoughts on the Delk pipe. KILLER restore. I'll have to pop a vid of mine up sometime too. The guy I got it from did a top shelf restore...every nut and bolt, paint, bars, lines...yadda...yadda...yadda. It replaced an '83 CB1100F which needed more than I could give it....damn. Love the F bikes...

Thanks so much for the kind words, so sorry I missed this comment. I was very please with the quality of the Delkevic exhaust and the sound. Like you said the new Kerker is not like the old one, this is why I did not go for the extra dollars. I don't know what jetting is in the carbs, I just know the increased the numbers a bunch.

Make up a bar keepers friend slurry and paint it on the fins with a stiff paint brush. The old gross grime will wash right off. Let it sit 10 mins then soap and water wash it. I have a 78b2 and 77c1. I love them both.

So far so good, but I don't have a lot of miles on them. If I had to do it over, I would go with stainless or chrome. Having had another bike with black headers, it's hard to keep them looking nice. The chips and stains stand out more with black headers.

What jetting are/ were you running. I’ve done something similar with a 79 and it has never run properly. I’ve done as much as I could. Didn’t run at all when I bought it. Needed complete rebuild all valves pitted only 45psi each cylinder. Ran good for a little while but still needed to be slightly choked. Rebuilding again to fix some things I don’t like the first time like tucking the wiring harness better

Sorry I missed this comment, I don't know the jetting as I sent the carbs out. I do know that they increase the jet size a bunch of numbers.

Sorry to hear that you guys are not seeing eye to eye ( for now) .i am in the same situation with my brother for the last 12 years. Hopefully one day we will ALL come to our senses and accept each other ( family) no matter if they/we have some weird ass thinking😂. By the way I only feel this way with family. Everyone else, I could give a rats ass if the like me or not. I'm not Completely anti-social but I'm creeping up on it.
Now I have to go take a nap
      I'm exhausted 😂
