“A simple, easy beef stew”
*proceeds to name about 8000 ingredients*
yeah just pop down to the corner store for you fresh thyme and creme frieche
Lol, also said one pot and he was cooking on like 3 different pans.
You can just buy canned beef stew, it's processed but still healthier than chocolate bars.
Or better yet have a microwave and pour the stew into a bowl, then throw in fresh veggies and heat it up. :P
@@dra6o0n Why would anyone on earth do something like that when they can simply bring 47 ingredients including bottles of red wine and things that require cold storage, 3 pans, a 50 lb portable stove, a propane tank, 3-4 cooking utensils, and a recommended lifetime of professional chef experience to their work site?
Forgot to mention the chicken stock lmao
And when Gordon left, they sat down, looked at each other and said, Yeah not doing that again.
But my wife made me a sandwich.
@@bakersmileyface good for you now savor that sandwich
Why would anyone? It’s a complete waste of money and effort when you could just grab a sandwich from your local co-op.
@@wb8905 the food looks delicious and probably taste better than a simple sandwhich. I wouldnt cook it everyday, but id defineitly take it over a sandwhich
@@superior_nobody07 “the food looks delicious” and yet it’s a waste of time.
Creme fraîche, just what every builder carries around with them
@Aidan Gallagher the fuck?
Creme fraiche is available at every supermarket
Is that an i hat
@Mitsi Grabblerberg And if YOU yourself happen to be around then you've really lucked out because there's always enough of that on your face and lips for the recipe.
@Mitsi Grabblerberg I have way higher standards than to waste a load on someone like yourself.
They never cooked a meal ever again...
it's like asking gordon to carry around a toolbox so he can fix things that break in his kitchen
Yup, I am a carpenter myself and i've never seen or heard of a "builder" cooking his own meals at the construction site.
@d bmeeehhhhhhh probably not. But I mean just take the the dinner leftovers from the day before and put that in a lunchbox and heat it up in a microwave. Thats what we do here in Sweden atleast.
EVER!
Hahahahahahahahahaha im rolling here
GR: "I'd like to become a proper builder"
Guy: "I'd like to become a proper chef"
Everyone felt that
True
Answer of the fucking century!
And then Gordon didn't bring him to do any prepping :(
"I've always wanted a drum machine." Yeah, that's all they're going to use it for.
It’s a scale too
@@amateurdover5980 Mate if any of these guys hopped on that "scale" it would break :)
"See how easy it is? Now you guys do it after seeing me do it once."

Why not , Gordon went straight home after this and ripped his kitchen out .

NumptyInIsaan Really?
really old joke m8
@Adam haven't watched this yet, but that sounds very insulting. Such a shame if he said that. Trades people deserve the same amount of respect that everyone wants for himself. We all have vulnerabilities.
Someone beat me to it! XD
Mar L i think he was joking when he said it tbf
Yes, because I want to spend 3/4 of a lunch "break" prepping, cooking and cleaning up. Just bring food from home in a tupperware.
Keep a microwave in your trailer and then you have a hot meal. Cooking on the job is pointless when you can bring leftovers. The only people who cooks full meals on the jobsite are the mexican crews but thats cuz they work like 12 hour days so they can take long lunches
I think that’s what Gordon Ramsey is trying to show here.
If you can prep and cook a meal like that just in a 1 hour lunch break . What’s stopping them from doing it at home and having meals prepped for the whole week?
Prep can be done ahead of time as well.
This is a meal they can prep and warm up too
Yeah, i would instead just make a huge dinner portion at home, put half in the fridge and then reheat and eat it at work.
cooks on a gas stove and gives them an electric one
They would fucking blow them selfs up
Because with a gas stove they would need a hot works permit before they can use it. Don't need one with an electric stove.
"i'd like to become a proper builder".."i'd like to become a proper chef"
lol 🤣
😂😂
Sharp
Something quick and simple... for builders that move around, don't have a kitchen, means of refrigeration, storage, kitchen tools, etc...
- Industrial mobile stove
- Cast iron frying pan
- Olive oil
- Chopped Onions
- Sliced garlic
- Thyme
- Minced bacon
- Mushrooms
- Beef chunks seared with salt, pepper and mustard
- Deglazes with red wine vinegar
- Tomato pure
- Beef or Chicken stock
- Creme fraiche
- Of course decorates with parsley or something like everyone totally does at home
- Hands them a shitty electric stove xD (died)
Bro this shit was a fail at the start
Cook at home?
Hahahahaha so unrealistic aye
They can
A: dice up everything at home and bring them with themselves in their lunchboxes
B: cook everything that home and bring the food with them and just heat it up.
@@venvontilt3498 B is the perfect thing to do. Just get some left overs from the night before.
“We always think builders are lazy and just on tea breaks.” Bro have you ever done manual labour?
Who actually thinks that? builders are some of the hardest workers in the workforce
@Marky every generation has its lazy folk but yes I think our generation has a lot more
Dude - pull an open/close shift in a commercial kitchen and you’ll know what manual labour is.I’m not saying builders don’t work hard - but I would say with complete confidence Gordon would worked his arse off to become a 3 star chef.
@@seancullum1561 come on mate you cant compare chefs with builders
@@ca6813 trust me - you absolutely can.
It’s amazing how quick everything comes together when it’s all prepped

Yep.
Up at 4 or 5am to get a ride to the jobsite, work until noon, short lunch, and back to it until 6pm or, if someone/something fucked up, later.
Not easy work for sure but, it was fun.
You see Ramsey’s face after “I’ve always wanted a drum machine”-priceless
The F Word honestly was one of the best entertainment shows on TV and I remember it so fondly. Gordon before America is the don
"I'm gonna show you my tool now"
Kind of reminds me of when I went to truck driving school in 1991. It was in another state, 10 weeks long and I had to do my own cooking. My grandmother cooked for a living and started teaching my siblings and I when we were in elementary school plus I picked up some things from cooks I knew in the Army. I also spent 2 tours in South Korea and watched as many cooks there as I could. The first chance I had I went to WalMart and got a wok and chef's knife as my main cooking tools. That night when I went into the communal kitchen after others had finished cooking I was surprised by the number of people who had never seen a wok. They wanted to know what it was and what do you cook with it. For the next 10 weeks it seemed like I gave a cooking lesson just about every night. I showed them you could take the same basic vegetables, change the meat and get a different taste. I also let some taste and a couple got hooked on my cucumbers. Slice them and let them soak in soy sauce, garlic and hot sauce or pepper flakes. Serve chilled or at room temperature. If you heat the sauce it's good for dipping egg rolls in. They really loved using the wok for deep frying chicken and fries.
I love how the video starts off with Ramsay roasting tf out of builders
"A bum crack big enough to park a bike in" Gordon u beauty.
Gordon has the best out of context phrases:
"I'm gonna show you my tool now"
They're not building, they're taking-aparting.
Yeah, not construction workers or builders, but scrappers.
Well I mean, u gotta demolish before you can renovate bruh
These guys will never make a meal even close to this caliber he could’ve actually helped them and given them simpler meals they could actually cook lmao
So he’s basically a British Mike Rowe who’s also a chef.
Who tf is mike Rowe must be an American thing
@Aidan Gallagher We found the leftist fucker.
Tea break? Didn't know you could make tea out of cigarettes.
You can but you'd likely get sick
I've once accidentaly made tea out of cigarettes. A metallic ashtray was outside the house and after the rain that ashtray looked like a cup of tea. But everyone refused to taste it =(
@@youngbidlo7071 Not surprising. If you take too much nicotine at once it can actually kill you. Someone killed someone else that way. They soaked a bunch of loose tobacco and cooked it down into a capsule, dropped it in the guys morning coffee.
@@jesseling6672 well that cup of breakast tea was not more than 1-2 cigs worth of nicotine

Dude how is Gordon always so interesting, he's always one of my go tos when I'm bored af
best way for good food for lunch like this is slow cooker this exact same or other meals in bulk on sunday night and then bring a tupperware box with it and reheat it in a microwave or on a hob for 10 minutes. worked for me for years :D
Exactly, don't even have to cook at the site, cook at home and reheat it. Get a microwave for the back of your van, or eat cold.
Guys where I worked would do the same thing with the leftover food their wives made the night before. Single guys just brought sandwiches. No one ever went to a fast food place
here in brazil they have metal lunchboxes that you can heat in a lot of different ways you can even put them on a flame burner no problem. And you don't need a pan, the lunchbox is the pan. They even sell them with small electric heaters that pretty much heat them in a water bath. They are better than microwaved food.
@@JanusXX That sounds extremely convenient. Going to have to look into that
I love the slow cooker! I have discovered it just recently and I have never cooked better food lol :D
It would be my ultimate dream to have Gordon show me, as a disabled person, how to cook quick easy meals for my lunch. Then for my husband and myself for dinner. As is stands now I don't eat lunch unless I have help.
When Gorden left they waited until he was out of hearing distance and were all like..... "Right off to the chipper then yeah?"
This is why I love British builders. Yeah often they're sat on their arse, but the ones who don't and are actually getting on with it are top blokes. Always up for a laugh and cracking jokes! Heard that hammer-4 joke before, and I knew as soon as Gordon turned away they had him!

That stove got chucked out with the kitchen after he left
Some jobs you just don't have time for that. Once you start, there is no stopping until its done. 8 hours - 17 hours in one day. There are no breaks or lunches.
