@@jojijosette5946Yes! I believe that in past interviews over the years Sir Barry alluded to their father being instrumental (no pun intended) in keeping their feet on the ground. All of them were so humble & had such wonderful senses of humor & even the interviews with their Mum were interesting. I agree, kudos to raising 5 great humans, even if one of them wanted nothing to do with being in the spotlight. 🌹
Jason could do his own podcasts or interviews He authentically says thank you and says things like that is a very good question so often...and you can tell he is a real student of the music
Barry Gibb.... absolute master musician and legend to anyone with half a brain.... I love this guy, soooo good to hear from this human again, cant wait to hear what he is producing next, thankyou for posting.
Sir Barry Gibb a living legend, and Genius. I am a big Bee Gees fan. I have just about every vinyl, CD, and DVD that The Bee Gees put out there. I love Sir Barry Gibb!❤️
Love just being here and listening to these gentleman talk and relate to one another. Two very kind and talented artists. They never interrupt and are wonderful listeners. Barry is very interesting. Love him!
An incomparable living legend who gave the world so many iconic songs with the Bee Gees, and wrote a lot of great hits for other legendary artists, that stood the test of time
Fantastic interview with Barry and Jason. The interviewer just let the guys talk and that made all of the difference. The Bee Gees were so ahead of their time. I was fortunate to realize their music in my youth. Some of the things I know for me that made me such a big fan was: 1. The songs were romantic in nature. 2. The songs were about love and relationships etc. 3. They're vocals and harmonies were smooth as silk. 4. Of course the falsettos were just out of sight. 5. Somehow when they sang it, it felt they were singing it just to me. A lot of my friends felt the same way.:) 6. Where I grew up, we listened to mostly rock music which was fine, but when the Bee Gees came along, it was a nice reprieve. It was nice to see men sing in a very sweet way. 7. They dressed in a sexy way...shirts unbuttoned etc. etc. I can tell you I didn't know one girl who didn't love the Bee Gees. Thousands and thousands of them loved the band. Of course, they were easy on the eyes. Barry had it all; all he had to do was make that short breath sound and it was all over. It was just a gift he had. He had the whole package and his brothers were so gifted as well. I was really upset when people started to make fun of them and so were my friends. I honestly think there were many people who were just plain jealous of these guys. I am blessed that I was able to spend my youth and beyond listening and dancing to their music. They were just part of my life. It was like celebrating your birthday over and over.
This is amazing - such a fabulous conversation with 2 lovely men - not an interview. Thank you so much 'Rolling Stone" for enabling this wonderful experience.
The Brothers Genius have always been ahead of their time; for five decades! (since I started adoring them). Barry's utter humility overshadows the band's greatness and their diverse songwriting across all genres. The Bee Gees are simply God-sent creative legends whose music is not played enough on commercial U.S radio stations. How sad. But don't worry Sir Barry, your amazing catalog will live eternally a thousand years from now all across the world.
My words exactly. These men were transcendent even though they sang love songs their harmonies and magical touches were from another dimension and touched the deepest and universal part of the human soul. From plaintive to melancholy to jiveing and celebrating romance and the human condition, there will never be another Barry or group like the Bee Gees. They were each profound, humble, transparent and daring. Boy do we need them in our current divided times. I just listened to 65 minutes where he was interviewed about his new country album and it was great to see him in camaraderie where he is recognized for the genius he is, albeit ever humble is he. Whatta guy! What a loss we all suffered way back then, still makes me cry to hear the voices. Spirits all! BTW I just watched a fabulous video interview on Sirius XM that was probably the best thing I ever heard him do. Its called Outlaw Country Video Specials (on demand streaming)
Check out the video streaming on Sirius XM which is profound interaction between musicians performing on his new album, the moderator is great and finally Barry is getting the respect and acknowledgment he deserves, ie, his rightful place in the world. Try to find someone who has Sirius if you don't, it will blow your mind!
This Aussie had never heard of Jason before this LP. Now he's my 2nd favourite country music person after Keith Urban. Love Jasons knowledge and respect of music history - esp loving his respect for BG music.
Because of that beautiful young man in the background who keeps telling his dad that he has an amazing story to tell. He is building up his dads self esteem. One of the great stories of the music world.
What a lovely wonderful exchange of great minds. Wasn't real familiar with Jason Isbell before, but a super Bee Gees and Barry Gibb fan since 1969. One of the best videos I've watched in years. Love you Barry Gibb and will have to look into more of Jason Isabell's music.
Dave Cobb is a master of his craft. To bring out the best of these GREAT musicians is an art. Thank you RS for making this interview happen and posting it! Great stuff.
Yes! That humility in Barry is main ingredient that makes him a great man...the wisdom he absorbed from experiences never left him or his brothers even in the ' high heaven's of supreme success ..Bravo!! 🎉❤❤❤❤
I really enjoyed this interview. I hope and pray that this pandemic is over soon and that BARRY can be back on stage doing concerts again very soon and I would love to go to one and see him in person ❤ ♥ ❤ . I only wish that his brothers would still be with him. I hope and pray 🙏 that 2021 will be a really wonderful year for everyone. Please stay safe and healthy everyone and have a HAPPY NEW YEAR 🥳💥🥂🎆🎉🎊🎼🎵🎶🎸
This was really fun and enlightening. Very interesting to see such creative people discuss what they do and how they keep it together. And it was a bonus that they are two real gents.
Barry is awesome. Hope he'll tour again, at least some live performances here and there around the country. One of the best talents ever. There aren't really any like him anymore, too much tech.
So happy to come across this interview! I truly enjoyed listening to these two accomplished artists from different ages and different genres simply talking “music” sharing their ideas and techniques and enjoying each other. Great interview! Thank you for sharing!
Barry Gibb the only 🐝🐝🐝Gee now doing his own thing such a gifted man all of the 🐝🐝🐝Gees kids doing same work lovely kids and Andys family love you Barry keep doing your own thing now ❤️God bless all your families long live the Gibbs 👍🙏
So here's an idea. Why don't you take "Greenfields" on tour with all the artists who perform on it. The concert would consist of all the songs on the record. Do a "One Night Only" concept at Red Rocks in Colorado!!
you have to write him, he says he doesn't read any comments posted on line. I keep meaning to write him just to thank him for giving my spiritual and musical soul company in these crazy times.
This was a great interesting, informative and just plain good listening. Just to hear them talk about music, their influences and how they came to be is incredible. I have heard Frankie Valli state the same thing in interviews that he took from several artist and interpreted in his own style. The Bee Gees are never given enough credit for their contribution to the music and the industry at large. It’s nice to hear about an artist speak so well of others and not just me me me me. In interviews I have heard with The Beach Boys, all you hear is Mike Love and others just speak about how they were the only competition for the Beatles and how they are the greatest American Band. Don’t get me wrong I enjoy The Beach Boys and hope I didn’t get off topic here while listening to the fantastic show.
The first time I ever heard Jason Isbell was when he did an episode of Live From Here with Chris Thile. That would be absolutely wonderful if Sir Barry ever worked with Chris Thile. 🌹❤️ 🍀🤞🤞🍀
It's just shocking that the Bee Gees didn't have three or four times more number one hits than they did. I have 141 absolute super favorites and all the others I love.
This reminds me of a story, and I don't remember it well. I believe it was a Rolling Stone interview, and the interviewer asked them which was their favorite album, and either Robin or Maurice said Odessa. For those who don't know, Odessa tanked almost before it came out, but it had a red crushed velvet jacket. He said he liked it because of the cover....
Barry love your new song songs .are you ever coming to do any consert's in Cali . Would love to see you life keep yourself doing what you love doing 👍 from 🌞 Cali.
I sure wish that in an unrelated music question...why wasn't it ever mentioned that Maurice Gibb was capable of falsetto...in a video where "Tragedy" is performed there's a quick side shot of Maurice doing the falsetto while Barry is doing another part...why isn't that ever mentioned?
Great interview. ..Kidoos to this young lady who did her homework...and knew ti just let these to guy's roll and bounce off each other without interfering...the mark of a really good interviewer.
They could all do falsetto, Barry just mastered it's control, and Maurice can clearly be heard in Tragedy. Almost as beautiful as Robins Vibrato, but they could all do backing singing for each other, Barry has mentioned that in another interview .
Barry is such a nice and humble man. Seems he doesn't realize he's a living legend.
All the Gibb brothers... wonderful humans. Respect to their parents.

So glad Barry is flourishing and has found another niche.
