Welcome to my “Fastest Way To Get Faster” lesson series! I received great feedback on the first series I put out in 2011, so I decided to come back to share some of the material I’ve been working on that’s been really beneficial for my playing.
Let me preface this series by saying speed is not the ultimate tool you NEED to have as a drummer. Being fast on the drums doesn’t necessarily mean you’re a good drummer - it just means you can go fast. Remember… Speed, without control, is useless.
In this first lesson, we’ll be moving a few paradiddle variations around the drum set. Play each exercise individually for 10 minutes, then play them in sequence for 10 minutes.
I'm convinced Jared Falk is secretly a technical death metal drummer
lol....think so too
The_Apathist really do you reckon
Actually most of the music I've ever been paid to play has been between 60-120 bpm. I don't play metal, sorry!
Drumeo hey Jared I was wondering for the next lesson can you please do some advanced drum lessons because I've been waiting a long time for it to happen
We have TONS of advanced lessons. On this channel and even more inside the Drumeo website.
Jared, thanks so much for everything you did for the drumming community!
Thanks Jared. Just got back into drums after 20 yrs. Paradiddles are new to me, open up a whole new world. Awesome lesson!
I'm working on this today. I noticed this video a week or so ago, but para-ddidles are what my instructor recommended this week for studying and this video makes it fun and worthwhile.
Well played Jared, fantastic lesson as usual. Applying your lessons has had a huge impact on my drumming, I appreciate it!
Jared, Really does a good job of explaining how to do paradiddles in drumrolls. I am back to square one learning out of play after 30 some years I think people like Jared for taking the time to show people like myself how to get back on a bike and ride.Thank you Jared your inspiration every time I get behind the drums
Been playing for years but never had a drum lesson. Just been playing blast best for hours at a time. Then I came across your videos and now I'm learning the basic from your videos and it's helping me learn so much on the drums. Good job
I've been watching this guy's videos from the time he sold those DVDs of his originally. He is a great teacher and the bite sized chunks of the lessons are just what we need. Thanks dude, you're a real Mensch
"Wow, you're amazing dude"
"Thanks, I like to play"
Jared Falk: Thank you and the Drumeo team for this awesome material. I'm not kidding that I have been practicing these lessons for 3 days and my speed and comfort moving around the drum has dramatically improved so much! Can't even believe I'm the one playing hahaha! Thank you!
You're welcome!
Nice to see an application of paradiddles ( I was wondering about their usefulness).thanks for these videos
I love using the paradiddle and paradiddle diddle and this lesson gives me another approach. Thanks
I learned alot from Thomas Lang and this sir. Thank You! :)
Also, don't think of this as triple, double or single parradiddle. Run from your snare all the way to your last tom, then do the 'diddle' to reverse you sticking and come back. This is a great exercise for speed as Jarad said, but also for knowing where your drums are. Once you a comfortable with the strokes, do it with your eyes closed.
Really helpful and clear. Nice to have a simple exercise to start with and then move the 5beats per to move up...
Always love the lessons from the actual Drumeo crew!
Inspiring as always, thanks Jared
I enjoy the way you approach the drums. Teaching and explaining technic and simple examples. Thanks...
Cool lesson. I'm definitely going to put that into my practice session, it sounds great. Thanks
Love your channel. The lessons are solid and the teachers are not arrogant, not rushing but plain sweet and very patient. Thank you Canada :)
this video makes me cry tears of joy because here Jared and drumeo are giving free lessons (good, too, I might add) for the sake of the anyone who wants to be a better drummer. no money. just free awesome tutorials. much love to yall for doing this.
OMG!!!!!!!! perfect subtitles in spanish.......thanks so much..... wooow
Just awesome per usual! Really love Drumeo, so much useful info and such insightful instructor's and guest's. Kudos to Jared and the staff!
Great one Jared! Lot of your videos helped me improve my drumming. I will practice this too.
Loving this series so far, thanks Jared!!
This is really good. Thank you so much for publishing this lesson! I will use it to help me to improve my speed!
Thanks for watching! Stay tuned for the next nine!
That was a great way to explain speed, thank you.
Great exercise. Oddly, I always feel like the weak link in this pattern is my left hand when it comes back to the snare. Just feels a bit tight and uncontrolled. Tips welcome.
you know when you ask someone how they are and they respond, living the dream. Well Jared can say that with conviction! Nice work!
Yo Jared! You definitely gotta teach us how to do a fill like the one you did at the end of the Jazzy 6/8 Play along. that fill literally blew my mind!
Awesome video Jared. It helped me. I'm going to train this paradiddle. ^^ I hope I will play better and faster every day
I LOVE paradiddles. I feel like I'm in band class all over again!
Thank you for placing the subtitles. excellent video
good stuff! a great way to implement paradiddles! thanks!
Muy bueno , gracias por compartir los subtitulos en español.
I love to use this exercise to warm up every time I play
Wow love this bro. Good job. Am gonna work this out
Awesome Jared!!! Thanks for teaching.!
I didnt know you were so fast!! Thanks for the subtitles in spanish ! 👍🏻👍🏻
Fantastic exercise!!
Dude awesome always loving your vids
Thanks!! :)
this is great man!
Jared i think im going to try this .
.thanks heaps
Wasn't this already published? I use the exercise as a warm up. It's been really useful for not only playing faster but orienting myself when sitting down after not being able to get on the full kit for a while.
Yes, this is the same as another lesson, but I re-filmed it and added it as part of the new Fastest Way To Get Faster series.
Drumeo what's with the 1990's evans drum head logos?
I got those from my friend, AC Slater. - Zack
See drumeo, this is why I'm subscribed to you lol
Drumeo why don't you play this fill with singles ?
Que bueno!!! ahora voy a poder entender mas, gracias por los subtitulos!!!
Beginning drumming not long at all before I get my kit thanks for your ideas
So awesome of you !!!!
Thank you Drumeo😇
NOT FAST ENOUGH!!! GO FASTER!!! FASTER THAN EVER BEFORE!!! DRUM LIKE YOU'RE THE LOVE CHILD OF SONIC THE HEDGEHOG AND A ROCKET!! MAKE THE SPEED OF LIGHT LOOK SLOW IN COMPARISON!! DRUM FASTER!!!!
graduator14 Just Do It!!!!!
That's what she said.
Some guy named Fletcher told some guy named Andrew Neuman in a much harsher way basically the same thing. The Whiplash way!!!
graduator14 gotta blast
I will print this and paste it on my wall. 👍🏽
As always , Great job!
Hard working guy with great advice. At the end, you reveal the secret. TIME ON THE KIT PRACTICING. Mike has a paradiddle (only singles) with accents on the R. It's musical, and effective at just about any speed
Obrigado pelo exercício!!!!muito bom !!!!
Dope fill, gonna try this one :)
Jared, dude...this is freaking awesome! The whole exercise around the kit is amazing. You say it could be cleaner but I'm having a hard time believing you LOL. I love seeing what you are in the process of working on. It makes you seem more human rather than the machine you actually are. Love it. Keep rockin' guys!
I know this is totally late but I think what he means is that his stick control could be better. Not that it sounds bad but he may feel like he's cheating a little when going fast rather than using proper technique.
I feel like that too when playing doubles. I can get real fast and even sounds clean but I'm not holding the sticks properly to help control them as I go around the kit.
Thank you Jared!
It’s very true-- speed is not necessarily the end all and be all,,, In fact some “Slow drummers” are actually favorites of mine-- Shelly Manne and Mel Lewis come to mind as drummers not known for blazing chops but who musically added a great deal to the idiom-- Especially Shelly, he inserted wonderful little phrases and figures into the music that always delighted me and were unexpected and consequently exciting.
Jared is so humble
Amazing! Thank you!
That was a good workout for my arms. I was able to go up to 140bpm in less than 20 minutes. My arms are dead, I'm good for tonight. Thanks dude this helped a lot
I subscribed yesterday. these videos have been so helpful, since my band teacher doesn't teach us the full drum set.
Glad you're enjoying them! Thanks for watching!
good video bro ! your drum kit sounds so damned cool!!!
Just crazy fast and fun!
Thank you so much!
this is really help me up!
Very cool Jared! Thanks!!
Great idea!
Muchas gracias!!
Very good Mr. Jared!!
Great lesson!
great lessons very usefull
thank you!
This is from your other video I completely remember because right after I watched that I tried to learn it and I did, yay xD And it's kind of sad that if you can play fast people automatically think you're good, even if you don't really know how to play.. That's why I always focus on my technique rather than showing off..
very good lesson
gracias por compartir los subtitulos en español.
saludos drums
I was really excited to see you in Drum! but I did notice they had some notation errors, especially on the 1a
Great Video ,thanks ,I wonder when you really went fast did you not use fingers control ?
Danke sehr! So inspirierend!👍😎
Hallo! Die Übung macht Laune. Danke Drumeo!!!!!👍😎
Paradiddles is the most and easiest way to do solos but for ua drummers is like noooo we can tell right away. I love ur videos bro
hey jared I picked this exercise from you when you first showed this nice exercise. Can you share your tuning of the kit? good job Jared
Great title Jared... Paradiddle Madness!
Jared what if you put double kick instead of all diddles!!??abit of cool linear gospely, can you do it fast ??
That’s fast bro!
🥁🇦🇺 thank you 🙌🏼
Awesome
Hey Drumeo, Great video! Question for Jared: How long did it take you to be able to plat it at 180 bpm?
Play* srry
Im at 160 now, after about 3 months of non daily sporadic practice. (Its fun to just sit down a few mins and rock this exc.)
This is with an occasional roll on the snair instead of a clean double.
Ive only got my own kit 4 months ago, did not play for years and only played sporadicly at my dads place 13 years ago
boas lições
cool.........................I will practice that
Maravilhoso
One of my goals is to slow down :)
Agora melhorou.... legenda em Português... show
Damn Jared, u killed it braaah, lol. R3N
Im currently working on hands down by dashbored confessional. Any advice about playing 32s without getting tired or locking up?
Awsome excercise Jared!! ,thanks por this class, I send you i big hug from Dominican Republic!!
I know one of the best way is to obviuosly take time and increase when it feels right but what time frame should i be achieving for going from 50 to 100bpm. a month? 6 months? a year?
You can't put a length of time on it. Your results will be representative of how much time and effort you put into it.
I wanna know what mics hes using for the drums, how its so clear and precise
Sennheiser e602s. On the toms at least.
Please from spain. What drum kit you used in this video? What drum heads? Evans G1 coated? g2 coated? and the cymbals? hi hat and ride? Thank you! You are the best teacher!!! ;)
I used a Yamaha Recording Custom kit with Evans UV1 Drumheads. The snare is a Dunnett Titanium 6.5 x 14.
Thank you Jared! I don´t know UV1 EVANS. I check. and the cymbals? Thanks from Spain. You are the best for the drummers
what happens after you've been playing the double paradiddle on the ride cymbal and snare; right hand on ride, left hand and snare and then left hand on ride, right hand on snare so that you can build up an ambidextrous feel? So what do we end up with; what kind of feel is that?
To start at level I’m comfortable at. 5 bpm.
Hi 👋 I was thinking that if you were going a little bit slower than 180 that I could do it.
I have been trying to do something way harder than a paradiddle, thinking that was what a paradiddle was ... LOL
